Just hope we tidy it up on Thursday (I think we will)
Not sure anyone’s nerves can bear a last day with it all on the line.

Clown of a poster who couldn't wait to post in here after every bad result for Utd, noticeably absent now we've all but wrapped top 4 up?

How surprising.

I'm confused ...

Are the same people that were convinced we would bottle top 4 because the almighty Liverpool were breathing down our necks are now saying that getting top 4 is nothing to celebrate about ?
Unfortunately Yes is the answer. Also top 4 is not only crap but the Glazers aren't selling and staying to take the CL money in dividends.

Yep I know exactly who your talking about. Typical how they all disappear as soon as we get a good result and Pool a bad one.

How Kane still plays for them is a fecking joke. Why on earth did he sign that last contract?
He was on cheap wage with the previous contract. So his choice was running down that contract which is risky since he was still young and not being paid well, or asking to leave.

Spurs was doing very well when he signed this contract. Very few could predict it went down so quickly so soon for Spurs at the time.

And the effect of getting in two "proven" winners in Mourinho and Conte, that just left them in much worse shape and didn't even win anything.

Will still be nervy if Chelsea beat us on Thursday but anything less than a draw against Fulham at OT would be a disgrace.

I don't get your point.

Poch had them come crashing down before he was sacked. He lost control, and the transfer dealings in those few couple finals seasons is hindsight was terrible. Kane extended this contract under Poch after Poch's also got renewed.

The issue is clearly the lack of ambition which stemmed from Levy. Mourinho Conte even have proven that outside of Spurs, they still win trophies. Conte especially didn't set back his previous clubs for years like the narrative.Inter may fail under Inzaghi to win Serie A but still got to 2 Copa Italia final 2 consecutive year, and this season made CL final. Chelsea won EL with Sarri (his first trophy) against Arsenal Emery (Emery is supposed to be Mr. EL) succeeding Conte.

It's about the history of Spurs more than the managers.

Do you really think Chelsea will beat us at home. They have been awful this season.

If you still think this is done you’re deluded.

Liverpool will win ALL their remaining games and their run in is PISS easy. Meanwhile we can barely score a goal without multiple WTF moments in defence and I really don’t see how we get the points we need from our remaining games. Chelsea are absolutely on a different level to us they just haven’t found the consistency this season, and Fulham are out for revenge after the FA Cup game where they would have beaten us 6-0 if it wasn’t for that Mitro moment of madness.

Europa League again. Sigh.

Crazy that if we (and Saudi FC) finish strong, we can be closer to Arse than they're to City.

Arsenal have had a one-off season and next year Arteta's inability to manage on more than one front will have them outside the top 4, especially if the scousers find those inhalers again

Twat, if that’s true, wasn’t he one of the vehement Ole inners? Maybe I’ve got him/them confused but if that’s the case, that’s fecked up
Absolutely, but even that had much to do with his pessimism, forever claiming Ole was doing well because our team was utter shite.
@Leftback99 starts every season claiming we have the 7th or 8th best squad.

Too close for comfort in the end. We seriously need better attackers and midfielders. The decision making at times is baffling in the final third.

One thing is for certain, if ETH is to make a go of the Champions League and advance to the latter stages, too many in the squad just aren’t good enough footballers.
Totally agree but what's the chance of us signing 2 of each. Personally I think at most we will get 2 mids and a striker. Wouldn't be surprised if we still end up only getting one of each though.

It’s pretty much done. Consolation goal for the EL team
True, think there is a slim possibility of finishing 3rd if we can win last two games. Chelsea might just be able to sneak a point at home to Newcastle next Sunday. However drop any points in either and will have to settle for 4th.

To be honest I really don’t care much either way. Get a point to sort it out and then focus on the FA cup final. Let’s take a two week training course with Diego Simeone on the dark arts.

Yeah we definitely need lessons from him and peak Jose at Porto & Chelsea

I dunno, feels like Arsenal can buy someone like Caicedo or Rice, and shouldn't really be worse off anywhere on the pitch, where they're mostly on the younger side.

Liverpool were bad this year because their midfield was the definition of mid-table. Nobody who would get into our midfield as a starter. They have to rebuild that entirely, that feels harder to me than Arsenal just replacing Xhaka and buying an attacking right back or whatever.

Hopefully we can pull it off. Two major signings and two cheaper ones to bolster squad.

The likes of Rabiot and Orban coming in with a Kane and a Caicedo.

Links to Frimpong and Kim are strong though, so who really knows what plans are in place.

Eriksen isn’t good enough in midfield though and the other options are sub-par. Martial and Sancho can’t be considered proper options either so there is serious work to be done.

Yep I think he definitely was. Denied it whenever it was brought up of course. His posts were proper ridiculous in this thread at times.

We are nearly there but my word we have made hard work of it.

Nowhere near enough goals in this team to ever feel comfortable. We need to rip up that forward line and start again.

I'll be surprised if we get more than a point v Utd or Newcastle. We've got nothing to play for, injuries mounting up, etc.

Strange how the fixture list works out.

Nice of Dumbstar to keep me off his 'Ignore' list finally, seeing that he can't take the flak from some of us :D
In my 21 years here I have never put a single person on ignore, and there were times I should have. There's no point. I didn't come here to create yet another echo chamber.

But I'm glad you're happier now and I'm fine to take the flak. Otherwise it would just get boring. Well done on CL football, now for all of our summer activities (club purchase, new players, etc).

I've been very nervous the last 2 weeks and convinced that Liverpool would win all their games and we'd go into our last game needing a win. Thank you Villa for actually turning up and not shitting the bed at the very end (looking at you Spurs).

This looks 90% there now. Ironically I have more faith we'll beat Chelsea as we only need a draw. This team is hard to predict under severe pressure. It's not done yet though, let's not go there quite yet.

Also, let's not be revisionist here. This was very much in the balance as our goals have dried up, which leaves us at the mercy of random mistakes, var interventions or worldies that can turn wins into draws at any moment (Shaw, De Gea etc). Those who claimed it was all but done a few weeks ago have gone quiet of late, but now they're out again claiming they were right all along.

It got a little twitchy but remember being 2 up at Spurs. I don’t think anyone saw us drawing that and then losing the next two games. We dropped 8 points in three games and have still got it all but wrapped up with two games to go.

That was a HUGE win in our quest for a CL place. Absolutely delighted! Always felt if we won that one it’d be almost done. You'd imagine the dippers will win comfortably against Southampton in their last game so we need to get that draw against Chelsea on Thursday. No last day nerves, please! Imagine being in front going into the last few minutes against Chelsea, knowing even if we draw it’s done. Yes, please!
