Microsoft agreed a deal for Blizzard in January and even with all the EU backlash they want the $66 Billion done by June

We haven't even chose a bidder in the same amount of time

It could take months even after a bidder is chosen to get everything in place. I don't expect the deal to be done in a few weeks but at our current rate it will be well over a year.
It was reported that the deal is rather complicated, and that was before shareholders threatened to sue. I imagine transferring Class B shares also isn't simple as it sounds. There are probably a lot of issues to deal with since it's not a full-full sale.

Still expecting an announcement soon, though. How much longer can it drag on, right?

Still conflicted about Qatar vs INEOS
If Jimmy had promised to wipe off the debt it would have been a no brainer for me, but so far that doesn’t seem to be the case.

I can at least take solace in the fact that my opinion doesn’t matter, at the end of the day the Glazers choose who they choose. No matter the morality or the affect it has on the club.
SJR wont wipe off debt until he is guaranteed to be able to secure the majority ownership, that the Glazers enjoy, otherwise he is benefitting all the other shareholders with little on return (although he could convert it into a loan as others have already suggested).

That said if he can, even with an initial simple majority ownership (the 51%) wipe the debt off if he knows/is guaranteed buying off the holdout Glazers in the future.

The basis being that he can, in the future, sell off the majority holding, like the Glazers are doing now, even if that, debt wiping, technically benefits all the other shareholders, because people will pay a premium for full majority ownership.

That said I still think the NYSE shareholders will take the Glazers to court for not carrying out their governance for the benefit of all members/shareholders, the publically traded shares will effectively become worthless.

Hope they do because it will make that Ratcliffe bid so much more complicated

I'd still hate both. I can't get past huma rights abuses. As a gay fan I can't accept Qatari ownership. Not gonna stop supporting the club regardless. But, still.

I don't agree with many of their laws, however the utter piss this would boil with rival fans and ABU media makes it for me

9 months to completion maybe.

From the information publically available the glazers haven’t even begun the full financial due diligence process yet let alone the full legal due diligence, both of which are time consuming processes. It’s farcical, like everything they do.

Suggesting this isn’t yet another example of their selfish and incompetent behaviour is just plain stupid.

For the love of god stop giving the Glazers the benefit of doubt when they have proven time and time again what cretins they are.
The Times said they were in final stages in negotiations with Ratcliff so not sure where you've picked this up from.

Why is it Jim vs the state of Qatar though? Can we not compare Jim to Jassim? Clearly here there is one moral victor? Jassim, other than working for Credit Suisse seems pretty clean?
Because Jassim is obviously a front for the State of Qatar.

That was such a weird piece in The Times though. It was 1 line buried within another article, surely that would be a massive breaking news exclusive if they were confident on that one

Fair play to Raine because very little facts about the whole thing are coming out at all

The reporting I have seen seemed to indicate that the most in depth financial information would only be shared once a preferred bidder was selected.

Either way the Glazers are a cancer and incompetent.

They're really not either. Crap owners, sure.

Eh? That's not true. They had access to all of the records from stage 2 if I'm not mistaken.

Ah feck off with this. They report what they know, no one is rattled.
I dont know why people get in a dick comparing competition between the bidders, it's so weird.

It's the same with anything on RedCafe/Twitter these days. Transfers are just the same. The transfer window is like a new competition to many, you see comments about "winning the transfer window" every year. This takeover is an amplified version. Basically people want to biggest names or the richest owners. It's hard to read some of the seriously flawed logic people apply to justify their needs.

One lesson from this thread is we can't all be on the same page. I'm personally resigned to a situation or content with whatever happens. Just letting fate take its course and the outcome occur. Judgement of good or bad owners will only ever be known in time.

Due diligence has been completed by the Raine group. If any party couldn’t afford it, they would’ve been eliminated from the bidding process a long time ago.
Yeah same with the British media talking about the mystery around Jassim and his source of funds in general

His reported worth isn't a lot in the context of buying and running United, along with the considerable investment needed.

Basically my point is that I don't think Jassim's bid is just Jassim. Hence why people suspect some level of involvement from Qatar.

If they're in the final stages of negotiation then they'd be the preferred bidder. As it stands, there is no preferred bidder and SJRs bid looks complicated, moreover now that there could be a pending lawsuit too

That lawsuit is my hope we decide to go with Jassim over Ratcliffe, however there's not enough noise about it so far

It’s already been established his father is a very wealthy man, way beyond what has been reported.

Also due diligence would require he proves he has access to funds to be able to sustain the club.

Could be the Qatari government. A number of investors clubbed together. Fairy godmother or members of his family. Possible bank loans. We were led to believe Bank of America visited Old Trafford. We're all speculating without much evidence. The main reason to believe Jassim has access to finances is the due diligence carried out.

Nonchalantly scoring the winner...
Just to clarify, every single thing you can use against Ineos, and there's plenty, you can use ten fold against Qatar before you even start with the rest of it.
Their owner / leader personally used their wealth and position to fervently support Brexit - the most harmful political happening to this country since WW2, and which has ravaged the nation and seen the lives of countless people worsened / shortened, and in many cases due to NHS, has seen people lose their lives?

And then the owner / leader has then moved all their worth to a tax free location in order to contribute even less to the country?

Guardian - Brexiteer Ratcliffe moves to tax free domicile

Can that, specifically, be levelled at Qatar x 10? Not can you level something different at Qatar, which we know you can, but can that be levelled at them x 10 as you claimed?

Because I care a lot about Britain and I see, every day how Brexit has hurt this nation, both financially and also culturally in the mess we’re left to wade through in its wake.

Ratcliffe is a fecking cretin, let’s be straight here, he’s a bad guy. You may claim he’s the lesser evil, and that’s fine, it’s subjective. But he’s a fecking cretin.

I don’t see how Qatar have worsened Britain though, on a daily basis.

This much is obvious. He appears little more than a name and a face masking a state bid.

The fact that Khelafi of PSG has been involved behind the scenes and has even met with Raine only reinforces this.

Sure but it's still a big and telling sample size, that of the almost 300 people who voted in both, 77% of the pro Greenwood people were also Qatar in.
Could you also do a poll of what percentage of those who want Ratcliffe are / were in favour of Brexit, Tory government and are somewhat xenophobic? Cheers.

Gonna be really interested to see the results.

I am not certain that even 92F have claimed their bid is Sheikh Jassim going it alone. I believe the claim being made is that they are separate from QSI and are a private entity. I was under the impression that 92F are a consortium of Qatari investors that Sheikh Jassim simply leads.

We are all terrible, evil people. That must be an established fact by now so no need for anymore polls, graphs or pie charts to prove it. We are no doubt all going to burn for eternity in the fire pits of hell. In fact there is probably a little corner reserved just for us. Until then though we want that Qatari money and to get back on top of city and liverpool.
Money clearly has not been our problem though.

Sheikh Hamad mentioned his sons, in an interview with Bloomberg, he didn't say how many of them(he has 13 kids). My assumption is that a number of his sons are the buyers and he is the backer.

Because that is relevant at all

Also, are you trying to compare a political opinion'/point of view of an individual to human rights violations? Really?

Greenwood and Qatar are a relevant comparison because they both are a question of do you care about what this person/state does outside of representing Man United, while they are part of our club, or do you only care about how well they kick a ball while they can do whatever the feck they like outside of it?

Sure he might have some shite political views. He didn't force that on anybody though. More than half of your countries population (who voted) made that idiotic decision. In Qatar, the ruling family simply make the decisions, force their views on everyone, and are personally responsible for the deaths and murders of thousands through their human rights violations. If you can't see the difference in that, then nobody can help you. Everyone in the UK has the freedom to make shite decisions themselves, and it has nothing to do with Ratcliffe. Jassim and his family are part of the reason why people can't make their own decisions over there.

I don’t know enough to say you’re right or wrong, but I understood that some info was held back at the stage you’re referring to. Basically they had enough to bid, but subject to further information and some assumptions.

Either way the legal process alone can take months.
