Everyone on here moaning about United going for him debating if he’s good enough. Now PSG going in for him every one worried we don’t get him. I think the Prem is a much bigger pull than PSG/Ligue 1 and united could give him decent wages. If true he’s a fan I think he’s gonna choose us.

Would be typical united over the last few years to not get this deal done though

I mean, I imagine we are still favourites, but if he goes to PSG what on earth do we do for a striker?

Except he's not though is he? If greenwood was going to be coming back and playing again this season he'd be with the squad doing pre season, but he isn't (thankfully).
The original poster was referring to Mount anyway.
Thankfully it's not down to you whatever happens. There are fans out here that actual satisfied if he doesn't pay again for Utd.

If PSG are really in, then we are out. If.
It might change how much we have to pay but I think he'd prefer United still. PSG aren't as attractive as United to join. You can fairly argue Bayern or the 2 La Liga giants, but not PSG.

His agent is not allowing him to sign for £80k per week when PSG are also in the equation, yep the boy loves the club but he still needs to be paid, the more I see him the more I like as long as we the fanbase don’t put him under unrealistic pressure he’ll grow into the role within 2 years.
Yeah let’s see what the salary figures are once/if he signs. Like you, I’m also very optimistic about this signing. Has all the raw attributes you’d want in a CF. Hopefully we can sign him and he can develop into an excellent CF.

I haven't seen enough YouTube videos of Hojlund to know whether he's the next Scandinavian goal scoring cyborg, but if he is then we can let ourselves get this strung out to September 1. Not ideal, but the long term gain would be worth the short term pain.

But if if he's not then let's move on.

Salah got 15 goals and 11 assists for Roma the season before he joined Liverpool. While he'd go on to massively improve on this, that's not exactly a bad record for a winger in Serie A. He had undoubtedly shown more than Hojlund to this point. The big problem with Hojlund is he's coming in as the solution to literally our biggest weakness in the team. Because of this there's way more pressure on him than Ronaldo or even Rooney at the times we signed them. Pressure is going to be massive on him from the start. The reality is we should be signing 2 strikers this season and he should be the 2nd but that doesn't look likely.
On the bold part.

Salah was born in 1992.

On 2012 Salah was in Basel as 20 year old. In 2 years in Basel till 2014 he played 49 games scoring 9 goals.

How Salah showed more than Hojlund as a 20 year old is completely false.

I somewhat doubt they would take him on preseason. My take would be that he will have a special rehabilitation program to undertake away from the squad. At some stage while he is going through the rehabilitation program he will be gently eased back into the playing squad

He never said as a 20 year old, though. He means that Salah has shown more in Serie A before his transfer to Liverpool than Højlund has shown before his potential move to us, which is true.

It doesn't mean anything, anyway.

What are our other options lads if he chooses psg over us? Kolo Muani, Evan ferguson, Vlahovic. Anyone else?
Moukoko, Hugo Ekitike (if PSG buys Hojlund), Balogun/Nketiah, Patson Daka, Scamacca, Santiago Jimenez, last year's CAF fave - Patrick Schick.

Again incorrect. It wasn't a wages issue, but it was easy for Chelsea to make it seems like it was when they got beat to the player.
This was clarified multiple times after the deal.
Feel free to provide some links if that is the case. I didn't follow the aftermath, only the deal itself, when reliable journalists were reporting that it was a wage issue.

The market is fecking shite though. Osimhen and Kane seem to be non-starters and we're already scraping the options EtH would have highlighted.
He's close to it.
I think we should buy him but it's not the end of the world if he chooses PSG over us. Hojlund atm is average and there'd be like a ton of average strikers out there. Each team in the top 4,5 leagues have at least one. The only difference here is he is young and ETH or the scouts or both think he might become good.

And at worst we still have Greenwood. Who ETH does rate too.

He said, he had shown more than at this point.. Which point? Point of transfer :D, or point of career?

Plus Salah went to Liverpool as a 25 year old player. Again my argument was if Salah blossomed to be a EPL great while as a 20 year old didn't show much talent, why can't we risk on a 20 year old who has shown more talent.

Honestly, I think he's better off joining PSG. The English media and our legendarily supportive online fanbase are going to nuke his confidence if he joins us.

Nope I don't think he'll be eased back in at all. He'll be sent out on loan either in this window or in January. We would have heard by now if he was going to be in the plans for this season. Anyway that's enough about that in this thread.

If we're going to spread our net wider in theory Schick wouldn't have been a bad shout. But I think he's out until well into next season with a recurrence of the injury that fecked him last season, no?

Terrible shame - Lewandowski-lite would have been a nice solution for us. Although he's got a long time left on his contract and the only reason he wouldn't be obscenely priced is that he looks like he might be a crock now.

Keep up, that was Sesko. Only Lucky Scout was obsessed with Schick.
There was plenty of people on board with parting with an obscene amount for him last summer. Personally think he wouldn't be bad now that the hype has completely died off post his amazing 21/22 season and any fee should be more sensible. Not certain about his injury situation though.

None of the first 3 are attainable and very raw too. They would cost more and are an equal gamble imo.

Daka, Scamacca, Gimenez, just not good enough.

It's a very dire market.

Imo it's really hard to be sure atm. Just read about the interview ETH gave ahead of the Arsenal match:

"It's a club decision and of course, I shared my opinions but it's a club decision and we all have to accept that," he said.

Asked if he would like to keep Greenwood, Ten Hag said: "I can't say so much about it but I shared my opinion about it, so let's see what's going to happen."
He basically said he'd like to have Greenwood in the squad next season imo. And understandably the club don't want to. Anyway imo the final decision would greatly depend on this deal. Or if we could buy another #9 if this deal fails through.

I agree it's a very challenging market. Lots of old legends and unproven talent (with the best already snapped up by super clubs - Endrick, Vitor Roque and Tel) with mediocrity in between bar a few standouts.

Don't agree about any of Moukoko, Ekitike and especially Balogun being any rawer than Hojlund. Moukoko is probably locked down in Dortmund because of his contract but Ekitike would definitely not be off limits if Hojlund joined PSG - although probably just not good enough for United. With regards to Balogun/Nketiah, Arsenal have a big decision to make. One of them will want to walk this summer and English clubs are going to have to learn to trade with each other if they want to get decent fees as there's no money anywhere else in Europe. Both have good promise and are mature enough to lead the line having had regular experience as starters.

Daka was keeping pace with Haaland's Salzburg performance while there and find it hard to believe there isn't a player in there. Leicester have been dire for a few years and he hasn't gotten a great opportunity with Vardy ahead of him. Scamacca is another who seems ill-fitted to his club but am sure that if EtH could get a tune out of Haller, he might be able to do something with Scamacca.

Something that should be factored into our analysis of his scoring prowess is the role that he's determined to play under Gasparini at Atalanta. Since they're a direct team they often have Hojlund running channels on both sides of the box. This leads to him finding himself isolated quite often in transition, which impacts how often he finds himself in central locations are key moments and also accounts for increases of loss of ball retention. So, we can't simply just transplant Hojlund in Atalanta's system into playing under ten Hag, and assume that this says something about Hojlund as a threat. There's every chance that since he will play a different role in ETH's system than under Gasparini, that the tactical difference will put him in the right places at the right time to score more goals.

It's not enough to state that since Serie A is a weaker league, that it's a given that he'll struggle more in the stronger Premier League. This kind of correlation is too myopic and doesn't account for roles influencing greater or poorer performances, nor does it account for the benefits of playing alongside better players who create more high-quality chances.

Eth knows how he wants his CF to operate. Eth understands Hojlund's qualities and how they relate to the profile he wants.

Yeh that's probably true. Whatever my personal feelings are about him coming back, I just don't think he'd actually be match ready until well in to the season, especially when he hasn't even been training with the squad or gone on pre season, so that's of no benefit to us really as a striker option.

Another left winger/forward instead of an out and out striker.
We won’t play with and out and out poacher. ETH wants work ethic, pressing, fluidity in transitions, hold up play. Muani fits them as much as Hojlund does He does and is able to play as a 9

We have enough wingers. Højlund matches our needs more than Muani.

It's been reported that he's been training privately for months to keep him fit. Imo despite him not training with the senior players the club would surely keep tabs on that as well. And I think ETH's stand on this is not solely based on what Greenwood did 18 months ago. Imo he wants him in his squad next season then that means he knows Greenwood would be useful for him.

Anyway it's way off topic now we'll see I think. Let's hope we can buy Hojlund.
