Does this strengthen our hand? Atalanta could have played us off vs PSG, but if they are categorically not going any higher, maybe our offer of 50+10 get's it done? We shouldn't go back with anything higher now, maybe at a push 50+15 but the worry of PSG blowing us out the water is now gone.
Because this is tactic from Qatar and they have already bought us behind the scenes. They are submitting a bid which they know won't be accepted and know that Man United offer is higher by 10m that's not small amount but PSG give public statement that their valuation for Hojlund is unrealistic and believe that 50m euros is fair, otherwise they will walk away. So Atalanta won't have a chance for a bidding war and will have to compromise on the fee and accept our offer.
