Not at all.

Nunez scored 26 goals in 28 games and then was signed by Liverpool for 65m.

By the logic you and others are putting forward, every striker would need to be signed before they’ve done anything - and for crazy money.

This simply isn’t the case, and we shouldn’t pretend it is.
seems you have problems comprehending my message. Let it make it clearer:

1. Hojlund, like all other young CF prospects, may or MAY NOT grow into a world class strikers - no one can say for certain. I never said he will be a world class striker.
2. £50-60M may be a "crazy" fee, but if we wait for a young striker prospect to score 25 league goals in a top 4 league before signing him, he would easily cost 100m+. Look at Osimhen, he just scored 25 league goals for ONE season and he is marked 120M. Nunez is not a good analogy since he scored 26 goals in the Portuguese league, which is not a "top 4 league", he was signed by Liverpool at £65M to £85M(If add on included), and turned out he scored 9 league goals only in his debut "Top 4" league season, at the age of 24. So Hojlund actually hasn't got a worse scoring record than Nunez - minded Nunez scored only 6 league goals in the Portuguese league at 22 years old.
3. In any event, "scoring 9 league goals in Series A only" is not a proper way to attack a young centre forward who was 19 years old during the season, since if the talent is here, the number of goals can (or cannot) explode instantly - if that explosion occurs, the striker's market value will be 100m+ for sure.

Nunez costed Liverpool £65M and scored only 9 league goals at 23 years old in his first "Top 4 league" season

Kane scored 3 league goals only out of 10 league appearances at 20 years old
Lewandowski scored 8 league goals only out of 33 appearances at 22 years old in his first season at Dortmund
Cavani scored 5 league goals only out of 33 appearances at 20 years old in his first Series A season
Ibrahimovice only scored 5 goals out of 24 appearances at 20 years old in the DUTCH league
van Nistelrooy only scored 13 league goals out of 31 appearances at 21 years old in the DUTCH league

They became goal machines later in their career.
There are not many Brazilian Ronaldo, Haaland or Messi who score 30+ league goals at 20 years old.

4. NOT every strikers need to be signed before they have done anything, but if they have done anything, the fee would certainly be much crazier.

5. A simple question for you: name a better young CF prospect than Hojlund who is not on a crazy fee? Evan Ferguson? Osimhen? Kolo Muani? Ramos?

I think we will get him but I hope people will not expect an instant mega star. He is a project type player that will require patience.

Finding it a little odd that we haven't got this one done and dusted already. Is there a particular reason we jumped in quickly for Mount and are taking our time with this one? Did Mount have a deadline and that's why we had to do his transfer first?

Just curious. I'm still expecting this to go through and am excited about our new signings.

What are the chances of Al Nassr bidding 120m pounds for him, blowing our bid out of the water and during his announcement Ronaldo does a siuuuuu in front of the camera while holding up a sign that says "Devil is haram".

Great points, and something so many people seem to miss on here. Player growth is not a smooth, linear growth trajectory. It can be exponential or see-saw up and down.

There are very few prospects guaranteed to be WC from a young age, and they cost mammoth fees. In and around €70m is pricey, but not insane when you think Newcastle signed Isak for that and he still has much to prove.

It's not just about stats, but also player profile, style fit, mentality etc etc... all those things are much harder to measure, but great managers and scouts can see what us armchair fans that looks at goals and assists will often miss.

I'm not anti Scottish, I just wanted Moyes out.

Vitor Roque for me. And just watch El Bilal Touré getting sold next summer for 80m :smirk:
And you mentioned Osimeh, Lille got him 22m, he had scored 20 goals in 36 games.

Kudos for mentioning Isak, I’ve been waiting for someone to bring that up.

Tbf, Isak had scored 44 goals in Spain by 22 years including a 17 goal league campaign so his production made it a bit easier to justify his high price tag but it seems ETH feels Hojlund could be that guy for us so I'll back him if we do end up getting him.

Pretty high I'd say

Hoping this gets done soon, I think he will be a great signing and will certainly take us up a level or two.

When does ETH upgrade the fullbacks ? :)

Don't panic...this ain't the match day thread. And even if we lose him it's got nothing directly to do with the Glazers. We have FFP constraints.

We wasted a billion the past 10yrs due to Woodward's dumb vision & poor management.
Isn't at least some of the constraints due to no investment from Glazers? If I'm not mistaken we have room to increase our FFP budget if the glazers put in money. Or does it only apply for new owners?

FFP is down to income vs. expenses, so their debt is constraining us. If we become debt free we could spend more

Makes you wonder what 'preparing' for a bid entails that it seems to take weeks. Like some Einstein working out mathematical equations. Obviously we don't know the intricacies of a transfer beyond the FM style of bidding that we have in mind

you can tell from all the interviews that EtH is starting to get annoyed that we haven't gotten a striker in yet and clearly he's really high on this kid

Ø is not pronounced O, like some suggested, it's closer to the U in words like truck, stuck (stepmom), feck, run, bun, etc.
