Once again we panic and overpay, no doubt after PSG threw their hat in the ring. And Jamie Jackson is right we might as well have just coughed up another 28-30m for Kane.
I don't see how us agreeing a fee for a player we've been chasing for a while can be deemed as panicing, it had to happen at some point.

And he was never going to PSG, everybody knew it, as everybody knows it would never be as simple as bidding £20-£30 million for Kane.

I guess that's why Jackson tweets this sort of stuff though.

This is always the best bit of a transfer fee. The cnuts getting their calculators out to find a more respectable fee to pay for the services of someone to kick a ball around for 90 minutes twice a week and somehow coming up with something that ends in six zeroes with a straight face.

I have no idea either, yet.
Seriously we did. I don’t understand the jump from our first offer of around £50m including add ons to this in a couple of days. I was thinking it’ll get done for £55m plus add ons but boy I was wrong.

Seriously, you have zero data or facts so it's amazing you don't understand the workings of the negotiations.

That makes no sense. If he starts well people will be saying it’s a steal by Christmas. Rice just went for £105m.
Doesn’t matter how he ends up. In this market we have way overpaid for his value.
In hindsight yes you could say you got a steal but in reality we have not got value for money on this deal today.

Hopefully he turns out well, alot of pressure on him this season though

Why are people saying give him number 9 when Martial is number 9.

And please don’t talk shit about taking 9 off Martial.

That mistake was made in the past from Ives. We didn’t take 5 off Jones for Varane.
Why are you so precious about Martial wearing number 9? It’s a waste of a jersey number on him since the guy is always injured. Give it to the player who is playing as a striker and leading the line for us.

For this amount of money, we got rinsed. Antony, Holjund and Sancho should really start performing for the jump. That attack is one of the most expensive in world football.

Isn't martial already given the 9 though?

Few things beat the rush of a big money signing. That's yet another monster outlay on the potential of a player. The ones we have signed so far have not worked out. Law of averages says that one is bound to be a smash hit soon enough. Hopefully he is the one. Cannot wait to see him now. Hopefully he will make the Lens game. Excited.
Law of averages doesn’t work for us.

Don't care about the fee, we got the striker we wanted, nice to see!

Now don't mention Harry Kane without taking into account the £130 - 150m fee it would take to get him, his contract demands and the fact that he'd be worth absolutely feck all at the end of his contract.

I’m not precious, but he’s wearing 9. The same way injured Jones kept 5.

Because Martial is completely unreliable ? Guy gets injured unlocking his phone ffs. We should be trying to offload him and his massive wages but nobody is dumb enough to buy him.

'kin hell man.
That the problem with United and some of the fans. This type of deal effects future transfers. Said the same when we signed Antony last season.
Its not a good deal in terms of the fee, its a gamble and a massive one.
9 goals in seria A yet 64m? The negotiating team are not maximising value for money and they need to be held to account. We can’t just continue to overpay this is why we are in FFP mess this summer

Hopefully though he does well and the pressure of the fee doesn’t weigh on him.

Jones wasn’t reliable for 10 years but kept number 5. That’s my point.

Are we giving him a 600 percent pay rise as well? Happy to have the deal arranged, but I hope we aren't taking away his hunger by giving him 200k a week before he has earned it.

Wayne Rooney might have the most goals in the history of this club, 5 league titles, an FA Cup, three League Cups, a Champions League and Europa League but to me he'll always be remembered as that 18 year old kid we paid too much money for. £20m more than former Ballon d'Or winner Michael Owen went to Real for? Farcical.

The fact Hojlund was desperate to join us should have strengthened our negotiating position, so I seriously can't make sense of the fee. I know it's not my money but I do care about the club I support not being a laughing stock also.

We desperately need a striker.
It sounds like we've basically nailed our young striker of choice.
A guy who only wanted to come here.

Sounds good so far.
But as always the proof will be on the pitch!

But Ten Hag has pretty much got all the permanent signings right so far.
