Absolutely, incorrect, untrue.
Ronaldo was 'loved' here, for his second coming but it proved to be a very costly mistake. Maguire the same. Sancho the same.
Licha was very 'divisive' but look at him now.
Let's judge players in their own merit as long as it's not those over 100m signings, which generally fail. The of rest transfers especially below 70m tend to work out most of the time.
Your reply suggests that I said that indivisive signings are always a success - I didn’t.
Ronaldo was actually a decent signing - good price, did what he was supposed to as a late 30s striker.
Falcao is a better example. Every Utd fan was buzzing about that and every oppo was worried, and Falcao turned out to be less tiger and more… erm, kitten, bless him.
Sancho, also, buzzing fanbase - complete flop.
So no, that’s not what I was trying to imply.
My point was that this really seemed like a transfer window where our needs were REALLY fecking blatant and 1+1 type straightforward, and for BOTH the outfield players brought in to be immediately divisive and highly questionable takes some doing imo.
And of course Mount and Højlund might both be absolute bangers, but for what the squad currently needs, I think it’s a daft way to spunk upwards of £120m - that’s just my layman opinion and it’ll only be changed by what these players hopefully do on the pitch.
So agree to disagree and I hope this lad hits the ground running and has the technical abilities to be an elite CF, because ultimately that is what’s needed to succeed as a Utd CF.
