My brains not asleep, cnut is a strong word that is rarely used in jest and more with serious emotion. Not sure where you're from but it's pretty much the worst word you can use in England.
 what? cnut is used as a term of endearment

It looks like we can't even loan him, let alone sell him.

I hope he's a good cheerleader at least, positive presence in the locker room.

That is going to be his main purpose for the remainder of his contract(2 more years).

So just another bottomless hole for many million pounds. Gutted for him he had such bad luck with injuries. His active time at the club is basically over, sadly.

I used to work for a well known broadcaster and there was a ranking of “bad words” for telly shock purposes. Cnut was number 2 on the list. I always thought it should have been no1. MF was no1. This is 20 years ago. Anything goes now.

Going to be very tough to get him sold on 120k a week.

To me, he is just a nothing player. He doesn't offer much defensively or going forward.

Tough injury last year wont help and the fact that he wasn't able to kick on under Ten Hag are two black marks against him.

I cant see a reason why anyone would want him.

He will be our Bruno back up for the Carabao Cup.

I've come to terms with and made peace with knowing that the only way we're going to be rid of several players in this squad, is by letting their contracts expire. No one is interested in dross like Donny van Beek on the wages he's on, and it would seem most of the players we sign are too happy with their comfortable lifestyle to force a move and accept less pay elsewhere. Whatever

Might as well say whatever to any progression

You wonder how things would have worked out for him if Madrid had actually signed him...

He'd probably currently be swanning around at a mid table La Liga club like Real Sociedad to be fair... so ever-so-slightly better then things currenty are.

You’ve just revealed your age my friend, it certainly used to be the harshest/most offensive word in the English language but nowadays it’s largely been replaced by racial words. Far more offensive.
Racial words aside of course

I kind of want to see how ETH fixes the midfield without getting more money. We aren't going to win the league this year, we were never going to be close but this is quite an interest test for him. We had a good but old CM setup last season that definitely needed refreshing and he's gone with a high risk signing in Mount who I guess he believes he can coach to improve us, last season a lot of players kicked on and I think we were all happy with how things went - let's see how he figures out this current clear issue.

Agreed. I don't think it's the end of the world, I think there's just an overreaction based on the first game. I still think we'll finish 3rd fairly comfortably.

I think the Sociedad move was dead a week ago. A supporter earlier told they made a big purchase for an AM...

The lad needs gametime anyway, I'm sure a loan could be found elsewhere but probably not for the same potential incentives financially.

No surprise, I would really be more shocked if this had gone through.
I really don't understand what are we expecting to get for him? If someone offers a loan with even an option to buy I'd be all over it. No one's gonna buy him with an obligation.

Beggars can't be chosers but we really ought to steer clear of negotiating with anyone outside the top 3 in ESP/IT as we are unlikely to get a transfer fee for our rejects. Quite why we have players that are only interesting the likes of Sociedad/Fenebache/Besiktas is just depressing in the first place!

I'm not sure it will be comfortable but I would be surprised if we didn't have a similar(ish) season points wise. To be honest what I most want to see is a change in how we play.

What does this even mean? Arteta, Klopp, Bohely and Pep have bought outright new entire midfields this season or when needed, but our manager has to work with VDB and McTomminay to prove he's allowed to buy a Caciedo, Rice or Fernandez?

Seriously, what's the fecking impasse? They thought they were getting someone else and Donny showed up? Whatever it is, just make it happen, loan with an obligation if necessary.

I mean, maybe in the alternate reality you seem to exist in, I guess?

In mine he's attempting to make Casemiro, Mount and Bruno work.

There's no chance of that though, Mount isn't what we needed to improve the midfield, he should be backup and there's no way to fix the issue of VBD or McTomminay because they're not good enough, Eriksen can't play 90 minutes if the game is intense or we play twice a week.

We need major investment, like half a billion spent on the midfield and forward line. There's no way around it and a manager like Pep would be throwing tantrums right now if this is what he had to work with.

Get the feeling our men at the top are fecking things over with their usual scraping for every last penny. Fecking useless.

You don't have to convince me, I spent a long time getting pelters saying that a while back but the fact is ETH (who is the only person that matters in this debate) decided to sign him to play him in that role supposedly. Therefore I think there's a fair argument to say, you chose this player (and he obviously also got others, it's not like this is a random one off signing) let's see if your idea works. I like ETH, I think he's going to be our best manager since SAF but I also want to see evidence our coaches are good at what they do. First season I saw a lot of players improve and all the signings were good, that is two fat juicy ticks from me. 2nd season and we should see more improvement, I am hopeful we will both be proved wrong on Mount or, in the case we are right that he can't play 8, he finds another combination to make the midfield work.

That's on him for not using our slender budget on what we actually need. Iie a natural 6/8.

And I absolutely agree mate, but I don't for one second think that Mount was his first choice, I think it was a case of Mount was available and cheap so the board sanctioned the deal because Caicedo or Rice was never going to get through the people who control the budget, especially when we needed a striker also, well we need more than that but you know what I mean.

If Mount was Ten Hag's first choice and he pushed for that signing over others then I'll be very concerned with what he thinks he can do with this squad.
