28 isn't that ancient for someone who's a DM and has a specific area of the pitch to constantly cover rather than being a box to box 8.
I think he'd be a great fit for Liverpool based on what they've got infront of him but they dithered all summer, went in last minute for Caciedo and decided on Endo who's 30 himself.
You also have Saudi's in play now given Liverpool just collected 50m + for two midfielders in their 30s pretty much.
I suppose that’s progress - comprehensively beaten last year but United needed the ref to bail them out today. 
Endo is a good player and was cheap because of the combination of age and the fact that he had a dream of playing in the Premier League. It was his last chance and the club wasn't as intransigent since he was a loyal and trustworthy player for them.
In what regards Palhinha, I saw fees of 70m thrown around. Fulham won't budge since he's the most important midfielder at the club. Although I agree 28 is a decent age for a quality DM, from what I read on rawk they would prefer a younger and slightly cheaper player like Doucoure. They ended up with Endo on special circunstancies.
