The absolute whoppers on this thread. Jesus.
We were all told he would challenge this season by his ****. We are out of it after 4 games. We ended up with Johnny Evans on the pitch. Its delusional to think we are going anywhere.

Yeah let's sack him after a positive season so we can appoint another manager who wants different players who will also fail so we can continue this cycle every two years. Like Van Gaal, like Mourinho, like Ole. And people ask themselves "why can't we ever get it right?"
Because we are shit at picking them in the first place. Thats why we have to keep going.

Just to be clear, I like ETH's ideas. But his transfers have been horrendous.

I still believe he's a great manager. One of the reasons I'm hard on the buffoons ahead of him in the hierarchy is it's sort of obvious he isn't yet great at squadbuilding. The overreliance on the dutch network gave early hints it was limited. He needed help not a team of buffoons hiding their incompetence behind acquiescing to his every whim.

Now begins the slow and draining journey to the realisation he's not going to make it, and the inevitable sacking when all is lost.
We have seen this, haven’t we? It’s frustrating. 10 years and counting, and all that Manchester United is hoping for us to get to Top 4.

If we are dropping like flies with injuries, you have to question whether the players are fit enough for the start of the season.

In my opinion, the fitness and conditioning regime they were put on over the summer is insufficient. Players looking gassed after 70 mins, players getting all sorts of muscle injuries and we're not even 5 games into the season. Just a mess.

He's nothing special. It's over a year of coaching and we're still hopeless at defending corners.

Almost half a billion spent in one year and we're just Moments FC again but with less moments.
Tbh I thought last year we looked more solid and organised.

there was about 2 years under Ole where the CAF cried about patterns of play and control etc etc. if i’m honest, over a year into ETH’s reign and I dont think we play football that well. We cant control games, we struggle still to break down teams. Garnachos offside goal comes from a moment of individual brilliance with the backheel.

I thought last year was a good start but the glazers havent sold and havent backed him properly and it already feels like its stagnating again. I dont think we improved the team much this summer

At what point do we say enough is enough with these defeats away from home?

An embarrassing set of results. If they're not remedied soon, he can go. We'll never win anything of note relying purely on our home form.
So let's sack him and bring in who exactly?

Only if you have eyesight problem.

We will have tons of stupid knee jerk posts about ETH tonight, I think we should have competition for top three most stupid.
I could say that goes the other way in the sense that people don’t have eyesight to see how bad we actually are. He’s been here long enough that we should have a noticeable play style but we simply don’t. He’s spent an absolute fortune on players yet we look no different. I can see a few more embarrassments this season incoming.

He’s spent so much cash and I’m just not getting it. I’m not a fan of his football one bit and seen enough to work that out.

We aren’t any better than under Jose that’s for sure and playing similar football at a lower standard attacking wise.

We have a better defence but I’m pretty sure we ship more goals. Let’s be real he’s nowhere near Mourinho in terms of changing a game with tactics.

Mou was probs kinda finished when he joined us but definitely has achieved 10x more than Erik seemingly ever will in the game for a reason.

Alongside importing Ajax plays seems to have imported the Ajax mentality of beating the weak teams but then struggling against equal or better teams (in the CL).

In all seriousness though as others have said the club are badly letting him down by leaving him to all the transfer business, which hasn't been great. Say we had Liverpool's recruitment team and brought in McAlister and Szbobsai? We'd look so much better in midfield.
How are the club letting him down by giving gim the power he so obviously enjoys having?

It's as if people think the criticism is based on this result in isolation.

Some of you need to get a grip. We played the game like an away team should against a strong arsenal side and had our chances to win the game. We started the game without Varane, ended it with Evans and Maguire. There are other reasons we are not where Arsenal are, and it's not because of Ten Hag.
So what was the reason we aren't where spurs were 2 weeks ago? What's the reason we barely escaped with a win vs forest or escaped a draw thanks to the ref vs wolves.

This isn't about 1 game vs arsenal. This is how the season has been, how poor we have been and it has nothing to do with Ten Hag being backed or not. No amount of transfer spend can bring you conditioning and fitness, we have looked leggy and unprepared from the first game and that is on Ten Hag and Ten Hag alone.

It's not an excuse because I blame ten Hag, and have done since his first transfer window. He bought the wrong players for the most part.

Outside of that big criticism I have of him, I see potential in his coaching.
Maybe im blind, but what are you seeing exactly? Compared to Arsenal we look clueless on the ball. Just sideways on our on half until someone gets presses and hoofs it, alternatively plays it to Bruno who hits a hopeful ball towards the wing.

Agreed. City and Liverpool help their coaches a lot with good recruitment. We basically just leave it to ETH.

Only thing really holding us back.

Shaw out, Varane out, Martinez out, no midfielders with any significant senior minutes beside the three that started, and it’s the 4th match of the season. We haven’t seen what the team looks like with Houjland on Amrabat. Get on grip on reality before daring to call anyone else delusional

We all love United
I am not going to question him yet but his away records against the top 6 or 8 teams have been absolutely appalling. I don’t know how he is going to rectify it but this simply have to stop soon

When will we win away from home against a top 10 team? Or ever again

Surpassed Ole’s highest point total and trophy haul in his first season. Run along
You run along, run along spouting the same old garbage and supporting the wasting of more time and money. Then swan off as always when you realize you were wrong.

I thought we played well today although we lost because of fine margins - the latter is a culmination of a lot things (long term transfer stratedy, injuries, fitness, crazy extra time rules amongst other issues). I think we will struggle this season and I expect Ten Hag to be under a lot of presure, but I think e should stick with him.

Eriksen and Casemiro is most likely the least mobile CM in the PL. And then you have Martial and Antony who are also not very mobile. Let's see if Mount and Amrabat can improve things.

There is a middle ground that people are not getting on. I never thought we'd be winning the league this season (especially after the transfer window we had) but I don't think he's doing an awful job. This game, for example, we coped better with the high press because we got rid of De Gea and brought Onana in. We looked much better when Hojlund came on and replaced Martial. There are signs that he knows what we're lacking and have improved on it.

Dreadful football and the results mean the season is an uphill battle before it's even got going. We look way off the best sides.

Nah. A basic understanding of football allows me to keep things in perspective so I’ll be just fine.

Because very few managers if any are good at recruitment on top of all the other skills being a manager requires. There just isn't enough time for him to scout players - hence why he just ends up signing players that have played for him or who have played against him before. Tuchel for example is horrible at recruitment.

SAF was good but I don't know enough of the behind the scenes structure to comment as I doubt SAF was the one that identified the likes of Vidic, Evra, Rafael etc.

We just haven't bought the right players, wasted so much money, centre back issue wasn't addressed this summer. Antony was a waste of money as I'm sure Mason Mount will be, Sancho is the same as Antony. We've had a few hits like Martinez, Casemiro & Eriksen. Whoever is in charge of scouting and recruiting is ultimately to blame for this mess. We are certainly a better team under Ten Haag, maybe not by as much as we should be but we are, I fear if we miss top 4 which is very likely already he'll be gone and we will just restart the whole same story again.
