Does the sample apply to both? Last year yes, this year no. Last year they were pretty comparable metrics wise, and equally putrid output wise. This year Antony has had far more opportunity to show what he can do and create going forward, meanwhile Sancho hasn’t.

All that said, you’re right. If running, work rate, tracking back and energy was the standard, Antony wins by a long shot. But I think, given how pathetic this team has looked, Sancho shouldve been given a look to start, and perhaps remove all doubt- does he belong in the starting XI, or forever saddled to the bench. What this team is lacking is going forward, creation, finishing. Sancho could’ve added that variant. Antony’s only highlights are in his hair.

It’s all moot now. We are kind of cursed.
That's all ifs, buts and maybes. Sancho has rarely provided any of those things in his time at the club, and he's had plenty of opportunities.
If he's also not training to the required standards then he doesn't deserve to start.

Managers under heavy pressure tend to say stupid thing about their own players and indirectly blame them for the situation.

Sancho was called up to the England senior squad when he was 18 and since then had 23apps. Today he is a shadow of himself. Off course Sancho also is to blame, but I think it’s very strange United isn’t able to solve the situation and build him up; make him the best version of himself. ETH obviously has a lot to learn about man-management.

I guess ETH don’t want to sell him , because it will be pretty embarrassing if Pep, Klopp or Poch makes Sancho great again
How on earth was he blaming Sancho? What a stretch.

Have you forgotten EtH man management of Sancho last season, or did he have a lot to learn then also.

What an absolute classic of a post that.

ETH inherited Sancho, whereas he clearly favors the strong, pacy, defensive minded type. If we could just stop the revolving door of recruiting approaches and coaches we could build off of past and present talent.

I wouldn’t want to go on a tangent, but he needs to fix that midfield if he wants to get the best of his frontline and back line. This squad is positively hollow.
Agreed mate.

I remember when I did start watch English football back in the early nineties - back then the foreigners was the divas and the players who you from time to time felt should behave.

Fast forward thirty odd years and now it is more or less only the young and spoiled British players who makes a lot of the fuzz.

Delle Alli, Greenwood, Sancho, Foden etc. All young players with to much money and fame at an age where they can’t afford to slip.

All those years ago the gaffer was THE person you listen to and behaved around. That’s why we all love Sir Alex.

If Sancho had done this when he was in charge a shoe would have hit him in the forehead and the key to Carrington would be thrown away.

The manager must be the one taking all the calls. You, as a player, can’t go against that because then the group will falter.

This is what EtH does. He decides. Period.

I thought the DM made the best point about him not been made a scapegoat, because he is just not relevant enough to be one, and never has been for United.

Do a Fergie and chuck him permanently in the reserves. He will definitely leave any way he can either Jan or the summer
I'm sure he'd leave in a heartbeat if another big club was in for him. Problem is there are probably no clubs willing to pay a serious amount of money for him let alone his stupid wages. And why would he take a wage cut to go somewhere else? It's a bit like the Maguire situation.

The problem is that we signed all this dross on obscene wages in the first place. And now we're stuck in this Catch-22; damned if we play them and damned if we don't as they'll just be even harder to get rid of.

Pretty sure this is how the conversation went between Sancho and ETH after the Arsenal game:

Sancho: “We in here talking about practice. I mean, listen, we talking about practice. Not a game. Not a game. Not a game. We talking about practice. Not a game. Not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game like it’s my last. Not the game. We talking about practice, man.”

ETH: "You don't wanna hustle, then you’re getting the feck out of here. I mean, if you're not gonna cover anybody, if you're just gonna let them dribble by you, if the rest of you are gonna let them dribble the ball inside the box and drive all the way in here without challenging them, then I'm leaving and you will run 'til you can't eat supper. Now I'm tired of this shit. I'm sick and fecking tired of our record. I'm fecking tired of losing. I'm not here to feck around this week. Now you may be, but I'm not. Now I'm gonna fecking guarantee ya, that if you don't play up there Saturday, you aren't gonna believe the next four fecking days. Now I am not here to get my ass beat on Saturday. Now you better feckin understand that right now. This is absolute fecking bullshit. Now I'll fecking run your ass right into the ground. I mean I'll fecking run you, you'll think last night was a fecking picnic. I had to sit around for a fecking year with 75 points in this fecking league. And I mean you will not put me in that fecking position again. Or you will goddamn pay for it like you can't fecking believe. Now you better get your head out of your ass."

Not so sure Sancho can afford to waste away another 3 season and then try and move on. Career wise he could be the next Delle Alli if he tries that. The move hasn’t worked out for him he needs his agent to find him another club come January. Both sides will need to take a hit financially. He only gets one career. It won’t kill United if he decides to throw his career down the pan. These should be the years when Jadon is hitting a big upward trajectory sadly his is the other way. Another over paid prima Donna which our manager is doing his best to stop happening to the club.

I hope he's smart enough to look at it that way and be willing to take a pay cut when it inevitably becomes necessary.

Was listening to NQAT pod and they quoted Pochettino who said back in the day "you get paid to rain, not to play". Which I think sums it up completely. There may be anomalies, who always perform great on the day, but those are few and far between (we obviously have none of that class anyway).

I really want to see him linked with a Saudi club soon.

I am with ETH on this one, this guy reeks of bad attitude and poor workrate. We already Martial, Rashford with poor work rate, lazy and half hearted closing down, with those two they have atleast some redeeming qualities or past glories, with him he has been overweight and unfit for a foreseeable time with us. Plus his half hearted challenges and always coming second to 70/30 balls. Cut him lose, hopefully Bayern or Dortmund comes with 50M offer.

Its possible ETH is done protecting him and maybe in heat of the moment he spoke his mind. He has given him ample time to get his game up to scratch. We cannot deny that Sancho has been extremely underwhelming and I would not be surprised to see him out on loan in Jan then sold in the summer. He's just not up for this league it seems. Its a shame.

Now he is beefing with all coaching staff? Ye seems like he is the problem, not the club nor Erik.

ETH is fast losing my respect because of his continued completely unjustifiable selection of Antony. Is he any better than Sancho?

Of course he's the problem.

This isn't the 1st time he's been criticized for poor application in training.

I've given up on him now and hope we get rid in the summer.

Yes he is.

Anyone who thinks Sancho is better than Antony for our team doesn't follow how we play nor their own performances.

And I'm not saying Antony's been good either. Sancho has just been worse for what the role entails.

But was Sancho told this prior to the game or was it just something Ten Hag just came out with out of the blue:

It's a bit of a mountain made out of a molehill. Mainly because of Sancho's response. He is the one that introduces this cryptic element and dramatises the situation.

Non selection when uninjured is nearly always going to be to do with training performance, it's a fairly mundane fact. That's one of the points of training. To see who is ready for competitive fixtures and is outcompeting teammates.

I don’t think Sancho is better than Antony but then again I see no proof that Antony is better than Sancho - and Garnacho must be tearing his hair out.

Last season Antony scored 4 goals in the league and had 2 assists. That’s just dire for a winger.

Sorry, Sancho is just being idiotic.

Now I see how he has been so bad, completely deluded.

You'd have to presume he was told something. Maybe not an in depth conversation but something similar to what ETH said in the press conference.

Anyone who thinks the Antony situation should open the door for Pellistri over Sancho is genuinely delusional and I’d include our coaching staff in that:

We are soon to have 100m 72m and 82m worth of Players suspended or Sancho not playing. Quite a curse that is over United. I'm afraid we will need Qatari money whether you like it not folks.

Him apologizing and moving on would be the best scenario for everyone involved. But I don't see him improving on the pitch regardless.

I think it's best if he leaves. He clearly doesn't have the mentality to play for our club.
