I asked this question months ago and all I ever got was a steady stream of crickets. My best guess is nobody likes to admit their own cognitive dissonance.
It probably didn't fit in well with the Ratcliffe bid is bad because he's borrowing money angle.

I’d have been more… receptive of INEOS if it was a full sale. But it is not. As far as I’m concerned, it’s collusion with the people that destroyed the club, which also sees them stay in power. So, you will excuse me if I don’t believe in some dreamland promise of a takeover at an unspecified time in the not-so-near future that Ratcliffe may or may not live to see. A pie in the sky kind of deal. Just as I don’t believe that the 25% he owns will suddenly grant him any kind of actual power. That privilege will cost him a lot more, and the Glazers are fully aware of this, of course. Anything he tries, he will need to get the approval of the owners first. Because they hold the money and the majority. At the end of the day every decision will still land at Joel’s desk, as it were. Which in turn makes me exceedingly skeptical about the whole deal. The club is in dire need of stability, investment, and a new direction. Instead, it gets further uncertainty, no investment, and no direction.

In my eyes, the situation remains pretty much the same as it has for the past 18 years. The Glazers make all the decisions and there’s no end in sight to that situation. There’s just one other person in the boardroom.

Even someone like Musk or Bezos?
Especially someone like them, their $$$$$ come from the vast quantities of shares they own, not hard cash, Musk bought Twitter by selling shar and yes, borrowing money

There must be something going on behind the scenes for the glazers to turn down 5 billion for a declining asset that’s worth 2 billion less according to the NY stock exchange.

Sir brexit must know this too, if he’s willing to part with 1.3 billion for 25 percent of an asset he has no control of?

All sounds fishy to me :wenger:

Jim has probably made a bunch of concessions and the Glazers think they can now hang around a while longer, take more dividends and wait for the club to be sold for over 10 billion in the future and take a nice cut from that.

For me the whole Saudi bid was a little tongue in cheek, from only ever seeing a few photo's of the guy, to the fact he never appeared at OT, as a life long United fan he didn't appear to take a lot of interest in the deal.
Add to that all the fake news being posted by every Saudi United fan on twitter, it all seemed like a story only Disney could dream up.
Wouldn't be surprised if it turned out it was an AI used by the Glazers to rinse money out of somebody. Ok maybe a little bit... but it's crazy times

You haven’t thought that through. Given the facts as we know them…the option wasn’t Ineos or Qatar, it was Ineos or nothing,

We’re on the decline. No champions league this year, I doubt sponsors will want to back us without assurances. I’m thinking a new TV deal or a new super League is being discussed.

"Guys I was in Qatar and the Al Thani family told me we'd made a mad bid"

Bear in mind there are thousands of Al Thani's (there was an Al Thani princess at my Uni randomly), even if he had access to the ones in power, why would they tell him anything whatsoever?

It seems many people don't understand the difference between operational and ownership control and the role of a corporate board of directors. Boards create bylaws for a reason. Reading through this thread is a good lesson in the Dunning-Kruger effect.

I was just listening to a podcast where they mentioned that Hamas leaders are given shelter in Qatar. They also said that the Glazers being Jewish, would never sell to an Arab state. Even when the money was on the table.

I think that this would be even more of an issue with Spurs fans.
I didn’t even think about that honestly! I think you may be right on both accounts. Makes sense the Glazer’s would say hell no to an opposing political side and Spurs too.

He probably had a United shirt on and thought let's offload our crock of crap onto him.

Worrying thing, to me at least, is that pretty much all we are hearing is what INEOS are putting out about their offer and what they want for it. Don’t recall seeing any comment from the Glazer’s on it. It’s a bit of negotiation via the media, which Qatar got slammed for. Not in the least surprised if the Board are reigning back on ratifying Sir Jim’s offer - as I’ve said previously, there’s a lot of fine detail to be thrashed out before they can agree to it. It’s not about the money, it’s more about the strings that are attached to it.

I believe at least 75% of the board need to vote in favor for it to be approved and there are 11 people on the board which are the 6 Glazers plus Sir Alex, Sir Bobby, David Gill,
They are not Directors.
There are twelve directors
The six Glazer siblings
Plus six independent directors.

Give over, I’m not being a drama queen. Id say it’s pretty unlikely that we finish top four. I’m not really a believer in miracles but you never know.

Mate we are 8 games in not 35 games in. Have you ever lived a football season?

Not really…have you been watching us this season

Hopefully you're correct. If so, I’ll send you a pack of beer, and that’s a promise.
Ive watched us like many have. We are 8 games in, it's too early to extrapolate a whole season from a small sample.

There are twists and turns ahead yet for every club barring City and probably Arsenal.
