Its difficult to draw too many conclusions from tonight's game. Bayern didn't play at 100 per cent because Bayern didn't need to. So the fact it took them until late to beat us is by the by.

I will say Ten Hag surprised me by getting, basically, the same team that's conceded so many shots recently to look harder to play against. Again though, I don't know if that was entirely because we were better or because Bayern played the whole game in second gear.

We're out of Europe. Deservedly so. Kamikaze tactics and a donut midfield did for us in Istanbul.

Now Ten Hag will have one game a week to manage from now on. If he still can't manage to get the 'automatisms' into the players in these circumstances, he never will.

Our team isn't that depleted, who are we missing now? Martinez?

You must be a WUM.
We were missing Rashford(for the whole season really), Martinez, Eriksen, and Casemiro. Zero goal threat to bring on and lost Shaw and Maguire before the second half. What are you on about?

Pretty decent chance we lose the next 4 before the new year.

I think I just really want to believe he is the right choice, but the facts paint such a different picture. Stupid amount of money spent on relatively crap/average players. Midfield is just totally fecked that we're still starting McTominay in our footballing version of Groundhog day. No indication he can lift average players beyond their ability in a SAF like manner. Continuation with the stupid contracts business a la Rashford. All feels very underwhelming.

In a must win game we had one shot on target. I can draw many conclusions, none are good for the manager. Like all things in this club, it all needs ripping up and restarting.

Last seasons spine (Casemiro, Eriksen, Varane, Martinez) are all either injured or way out of form. Has ruined us to be honest.

Yep. A lot of posters losing their shit on this forum for nothing really. Fail to see the bigger picture. I could honestly see Klopp and Pep struggling at this club, such is the lack of direction we have been going in. Rangnick was 100% on the money, but the owners are such useless morons they couldn't be bothered with any of his advice it seems.
It was ETH who wanted him gone and demanded full say over transfers and look how that turned out

Completely lost the plot just like Ole before him. It's sad but this needs to be put to bed after our inevitable defeat at Anfield.

We can't score, we can't create, we can't control and we can't defend.

Bayern are one of the best teams in the world, we aren't playing well at the moment and have a depleted team, losing multiple players tonight. We lost by a single goal and gave it a go to the ability we had available, stop whinging about everything.
Bayern fans aren’t even happy with how the team is going this season, yet they are still streets ahead of us. “Gave it a go”, embarrassing

I'm assuming we'll look better if we get some of our key players back from injury but currently this is the worst United side I've ever seen. We finished bottom of the group because we're the worst team in it, I'm not even angry, I'm embarrassed.

What are you expecting him to say on TV? It's meaningless and mostly to fulfil a contractual requirement.

And let's be honest, how many were calling Mourinho out for coming out and saying we were shite? Or Ralf? Who are the rare exceptions to the rule when it comes to speaking to the cameras. Ralf was absolutely slammed on here and I bet if I dug up some of Joses old thread, it would be bedlam everytime he said it how it was.

So what do you want the managers to say?

It wasn't a bad performance. The basics were much better and the effort was there, our forwards are just a bit shit. I was pleased to see Varane back, maybe he and the manager have made up.

Who are we missing that would have changed the course of the game tonight in ETH's favour?
Rashford
Martial
Casemiro
Eriksen
Martinez

Having them available would have given more options. Allowed us to possibly bring better quality on from the bench, either from the above or from those they would have replaced.

Evans wouldn't have been coming on. Amrabat wouldn't have started, possibly not even McTominay. Garnacho could have been brought on after an hour to inject some pace at a crucial time.

No doubt tonight was disappointing and injuries haven't helped but to finish rock bottom of a group with Copenhagen and Gala is a sackable offence at most top clubs, injury issues or not.

He’s been so unlucky with injuries. Made his job so difficult

We’re all still behind you, Erik
Yeah, I think not

Ole was genuinely much better tactically than this guy. I find it hard to think of another manager where the perception of his level of tactical prowess is so different to what we see every game

Basically last seasons spine (bottom 3 of that list plus Varane) are injured or out of form. It's basically broken us.

We're going nowhere but backwards under Hag. Doesnt matter who owns the club or who's in the squad.

I don't expect him to say anything different to be honest. He's not going to say we are shit.

With each passing game, it’s getting harder and harder to defend him.

His choices of signings are largely questionable, considering how strapped for cash we were.

The lack of apparent effort and gameplan on the pitch, especially after we have practically gotten rife of all the so called trouble makers.

Club is a shitshow, but the handling over everything from the summer just gone by Erik is really coming to the fore - really can’t see any light at the end of the tunnel.
He's a bit of a wet blanket, isn't he. I suppose I thought/hoped he'd be braver than he actually is. He also doesn't seem particularly tactically astute. His signings have all been absolutely shit, and his man-management is certainly questionable. I'm honestly struggling to see what his strengths are.
Agree with all of this. I'm very keen to back the manager given the omnishambles above him, but there's very little good to point to at the moment.

The attack he has built is the worst we've seen at United in decades.
It's LvG's second season all over again. Rooney, Depay and Martial (later Rashford makes his debut) vs Hojlund, Rashford and Martial for the most blunt attack.

Feck me that's depressing to write.

Can we honestly sack a manager after one and a half seasons? Well we sacked Moyes and he didn’t have a season so the answer is yes, however who in their right mind will come to this club at this stage of the season in the mess we are in?

I honestly think we have to wait and see what happens if and when Sir Ratface gets his foot in the door, even though he will only have a 25% influence on what happens, ETH will probably be here at the end of the season.

Yeh but apparently it's not an issue. They're all rubbish you know?

It seems like for many, the point where everything is the managers fault has been reached.
