However, that has not deterred Brailsford, an insider has told i, even if it would require a substantial compensation package to prize Ashworth from his current employer.
“Sir Dave will go all out for Dan [Ashworth],” the source said.

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought this was standard anyway - managers can veto.Tweet

So I'm assuming Casemiro, Rashford, Mount, Antony, Maguire and Eriksen will be moved on as well then. None of them deserve the wages they are on.Agree with this.
Martial, Varane, Reguilon, Sancho all getting moved on in January signals intent to clear things up.
Looks like INEOS is starting to have an influence to me.

Having a veto is the norm. Very rarely would a potential signing get vetoed by the manager in an optimal setup.Tweet

No manager should have veto if your club is built around a sporting structure, your manager should be considered a coach and to fit into the clubs philosophy, We shouldnt be buying players to suit a manager they should fit the club the club should also look for managers to fit that style.Maybe I'm wrong but I thought this was standard anyway - managers can veto.

Some fans will never learn. I wonder which transfers he actually vetoed?Tweet

It’s been called the Klopp rule when first reported. It’s normal. You can’t have the manager being tasked with say left wingers when the team needs a FB.No manager should have veto if your club is built around a sporting structure, your manager should be considered a coach and to fit into the clubs philosophy, We shouldnt be buying players to suit a manager they should fit the club the club should also look for managers to fit that style.
Is a veto structure normal? Genuine question. Can imagine it working if the footballing folk at United can challenge the manager with better alternatives. No, Eric. We tried that and it’s not good enough. Time for us to adapt to a long term strategy even if there’s inevitable teething issues. Incremental improvements is way better than lurching from 3rd to not arsed every second season
Both will be let go in the summer when their contract expires. Varane at least may stay on reduced terms but we seem to be clearing up the wage bill.Have I missed news regarding these pair from a decent source?
I think he means those 2 will be the summerHave I missed news regarding these pair from a decent source?
Hey Eric you can’t have (insert Ajax player here) and we won’t be signing Modric for 60 million but we have some shit hot kid from the french league who looks like the next Kante. Sound! I don’t see the manager surviving this season though either way. I think they will decimate the squad and wage structure and backroom and start again from scratch (I hope they do anyway)Is a veto structure normal? Genuine question. I have always wanted Qatar to take over but if this is happening, then this is the best news since our last title.@golden_blunder Christmas has arrived

Not gonna happen, just sack him. They are not hiring Ashworth and Mitchell to buy the players Ten Hag knows from the Eredivisie.Tweet

In what way? Say what you really feelIt's so funny that once again the popular opinion has become some nonsense load of shit that's far from the truth. Predictable.

Serious case of ED reading this postIt’ll be Dougie Freeman and that’s it
His first signing will be Zaha
So I guess you don’t see any problems coming up with the new structure Ineos will come up with and the way Ten Hag did things the last 18 months? You say the truth is everything will be fine? It's so funny that once again the popular opinion has become some nonsense load of shit that's far from the truth. Predictable.
Yours was like the 5th post I read today that implies ETH will veto every transfer target presented to him in order to sign someone he's previously worked with and/or plays in the Eredivisie. In what way? Say what you really feel
Massive upgrade on current set up !It’ll be Dougie Freeman and that’s it
His first signing will be Zaha
But that is not the situation Ten Hag signed for when he came to United. He said himself he wouldn’t come if he couldn’t decide the transfers. It will be different with Ineos and that will give problems and tension.Yours was like the 5th post I read today that implies ETH will veto every transfer target presented to him in order to sign someone he's previously worked with and/or plays in the Eredivisie.
It doesn't work like that. He wanted to sign Kane. He didn't veto Hojlund. He didn't veto Casemiro. He wasn't going to veto Rice if we just waited a year for him. He wasn't going to stop us from pursuing Caicedo if Chelsea were not going to let Mount join us. There needs to be a vision in which the manager, sporting director, scouting department, etc. all have aligning vision and they will identify targets together. In a good setup where everyone is on the same page, there will very rarely (if ever) be disagreements which end in the manager overruling a new player's arrival.
