Could not care less about this guy.

What we need are people like Paul Mitchell and Dan Ashworth.
Maybe think about the bigger picture here, how it all knits together into a cohesive strategy.

Focussing on one person / issue is a bit at a time is likely the kind of approach that got the club to where it is now.

He’s the guy who will get Ashworth & Mitchell, you may want to care about him.
He’s the head of INEOS sports so he’ll be their boss and the bloke that recruits them, so yeah, they will care.

Maybe they’d be more inclined to come if Woody was their boss, instead selling them on Disneyland for adults.
Brailsford knows about SPORTS mentality as a whole. You've got to find what motivates your people in order to get the best out of them.
Im excited about Mitchell and Ashworth.

If im not excited by Brailsford that is my problem aint it? I mean he might be a good addition but im not excited by him. I mean most of this forum would understand that we need a head of recruitment and a DOF.

I’m excited about the whole thing, Brailsford is a part of that.

Brailsford is going to have a huge part to play at Manchester United so to not care is weird.

We have been crying out for sporting people over bankers etc and in Brailsford we have one of the best, yes his best work has been in cycling but the man bleeds sport.

Time he was given some respect to be honest.

If you’re excited by a new head of recruitment and a new DOF, then let Brailsford do his job and get you them.

He’s simply a board member tasked with employing the best in business.

How can you not be excited by that prospect?

Without Brailsford we aren’t getting Ashworth, allegedly they’re close and have a relationship from some other working class environment.

How do they buy stuff then?
Threat of actually using their trillion dollar cash reserve with a simple IOU or better still cash under the table which after all is just paper which says; “I promise to pay the bearer!”

The Saudis are spending billions on just building the Line project some $500 billion which is part of the one trillion dollar Neom project. Why on earth do they need a few million on Dan Ashworth’s compensation?

He would probably get sacked at the end of the season if their current projectors continues??

Real funny.

I may have been wrong about business dealings but it’s well known that they’re friends. Without Brailsford we aren’t getting Ashworth.

It may not happen anyway, but we stand a good chance more of it happening with him, than without.

The most notable is the daily mail article as it’s about the Newcastle squad back in July!

Any financial gurus on the caf? Wondering why the Man Utd public shares are trading below $20 when it is reported Ratcliffe will be hoovering up shares at $33. Is it because of the lingering uncertainty and lengthy timelines of this transaction?

It's an institutional speculation market as much as it is an investor's one these days. When there's no correlation between the Dollar Index and a stock like Man Utd, I have to wonder if institutional money isn't offsetting their long positions, hoping to accumulate more long positions at a lower price.

He's tendering for 25% of the shares. Basically if you were to buy 100 shares today for $2000, Jim will offer to pickup 25 of those at $33 apiece. Once that happens, the market predicts that the share price will likely fall to about $15. That would leave you with no net profit, so the share price is currently what it is.

Imagine having Ratcliffe, Brailsford, Blanc, Mitchell and Ashworth with external investment into the club instead of Joel, Avram, Arnold, Murtough, and dividends being taken out but no money being put into the club.

I dont think the first two bring any useful expertise on the football side, but Blanc Mitchell and Ashworth is an insane upgrade from Woodward/Arnold, Murtough, Matt Judge and Joel.

I’d say the best directors are in fact those who understand their weaknesses and surround themselves with people who more than make up for that.
It’s basically the opposite of post-Fergie Glazers.
Ratcliffe and Sir Dave bring a tonne of expertise in knowing to recruit the right people.
These two may just achieve more in a few months than the current owners and directors have managed in two decades.

I'd like to see ETH next year with a structure behind him, but if he wants to die on this transfer policy hill, sack him. He should have inputs only, no veto nor decision making authority. He's has demonstrated he can't even evaluate players he's worked with before, let alone being able to evaluate unknown talents.

I'd say they want to win, want to appoint the right people, and are about to invest a lot of money into United

I don't see how they aren't astronomically better than what we've had before

That will change the club for the better. Hope we do get Ashford especially, his CV in football is incredible. Would be the most optimistic I've been regarding our club since SAF left if we get Ashworth in with Blanc.

It was just a (poor) joke, as you said they met in a working class environment!

Is Brailsford your new Murtough? Again, I'm just winding you up...

The penny has just dropped…… & I feel a lil silly. Apologies!

Ashworth would be my new Murtough ;)

Cheers. @MDFC Manager i would have thought, if he really wants 100% of the club, he'd be planning to buy all of the publically-listed shares, no? But i suppose he can buy a bunch of them at a lower market price once he buys the first 25% tranche.

Bits from the Athletic article....

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has told Manchester United staff that he is not concerned about making money from his investment and instead solely wants to return the club to winning the biggest trophies.

Ratcliffe, within a fortnight of finally striking his deal for 25 per cent of United, is taking a dramatically different approach. The British billionaire addressed an audience of employees in an Old Trafford lounge at an all-hands meeting on Thursday and drew applause for what sources, speaking to The Athletic on the condition of anonymity, describe as “straight-talking” and “honesty” about the issues that have dogged the club for years.

Ratcliffe acknowledged the club has shown commercial resilience in the challenging period of the pandemic, but he made clear that he would be measuring achievement by silverware rather than revenue and everybody should focus on that priority. Sources say this was a “liberating” decree.

Ratcliffe, who grew up as a United fan in Failsworth, a town outside Manchester, said he does not care about making a return on his $1.3billion investment. He also wants to make major improvements to Old Trafford and Carrington, stating his $300million additional funding, which will be converted into equity, is only the start of his support to that end.

Staff have described being impressed by the scale of ambition and appreciation of the current reality.
