Most reports on Murtough were that he was doing a good job in his earlier roles. It just seems he's a classic example of somebody being promoted past their point of competence. If that is the case, and if Murtough is happy to drop back to one of those lesser roles, I'd be happy to keep him at the club. That's a big 'if' though. Especially since he'd obviously need to take a significant paycut.I think this pretty much kicks into touch all this posturing about the possibility of Murtough staying.
I'm guessing Omar isn't going to say "lets keep Murtough- he's good at powerpoints"
I absolutely wouldn't go this hard or get this carried away at this stage of anything. This is great news. Maybe, just maybe "Brexit Jim" and "The Cyclist" actually do know a thing or two about instilling successful structures and cultures into a team and will shut those fecking "but but but I wanted Qataaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrr" crybabies up.
Yes, sorry, just 14 months of irritation coming out.I absolutely wouldn't go this hard or get this carried away at this stage of anything.
If another company offer you a bigger role with more money what would you do?My only question is why this happened now? Why would you go from a winning club to a giant that is struggling. If it is about new adventure, fair enough.
Is there something he knows about ManCity allegations?
He’s been offered a promotion at the biggest club in England under hugely ambitious new management - why wouldn’t he take it?My only question is why this happened now? Why would you go from a winning club to a giant that is struggling. If it is about new adventure, fair enough.

I hear you mate, but there's still a lot that could go wrong from here. It's looking positive though, reason to be optimistic for a change.Yes, sorry, just 14 months of irritation coming out.
Precisely. Remember all the optimism when we signed Rangnick? “Finally we have a plan”, “we’ve just signed Klopp’s daddy” etc - and had all the impact of a wet fart.I absolutely wouldn't go this hard or get this carried away at this stage of anything.

It's also to do with agency and legacy. Why do people take promotions other than financial? More autonomy, authority and responsibility. If another company offer you a bigger role with more money what would you do?
Human behaviour? Personal growth? My only question is why this happened now? Why would you go from a winning club to a giant that is struggling. If it is about new adventure, fair enough.

He's proposing an Adult Disneyland full of pornI am yet to hear him use the term adult Disneyland so it’s a no from me.
Jack Grealish had similar tweets about city, then he won the treble. Bodes well.
Non issue
Means very little. We've seen Grealish hoping United beat City in the past and this was 10 years ago
Precisely. You always have United fans saying ‘why would top players want to join us’ or ‘what elite manager would come here’…but being THE guy or being a vital part of getting United back to wining major trophies again is enticing.More likely just got tired of waiting for the top job and got offered the top job at arguably the biggest club of them all, restoring United to the top table probably has more pull than most think certainly more than waiting for someone to retire or quit
I mean the top one he was working for City at the time and the bottom one is true really
In 2012 city were in a title race with us, no?
'Rag'
'He's a snake'
'Rag'
'Is he jumping ship because of the charges'
'This means nothing'
'Rag'
'This is awful news, he knows the blueprint to our success'
'Man takes a better job, who cares'
'They just want to be us'

Thanks guys! Refuse to enter that forumMainly “turncoat” “oh dear” “rag ****” “jumping a sinking ship?”
Mix of panic and delusion.
He couldn't work with the Glazers, let's hope this time it's differentSo many highly rated figures in the last 10 years in my memory, didn't we snap one highly rated Italian couple of years ago, just to watch him leave the club for Russia? I will reserve my judgment until I see something worth the hype.
Hope is all we have, the Glazer are still present, people need to be realistic about that.He couldn't work with the Glazers, let's hope this time it's different
From my experience a wet fart can have a significant impactPrecisely. Remember all the optimism when we signed Rangnick? “Finally we have a plan”, “we’ve just signed Klopp’s daddy” etc - and had all the impact of a wet fart.
Nay. His involvement with City pre-dates the jiggery pokery of the sponsorship deals at the centre of the City charges.start the breach counter I guess
Its not Rangnick's fault he was given a squad that couldnt and wouldnt play the style he wanted and wasnt allowed to spend any money on players that could and would.Precisely. Remember all the optimism when we signed Rangnick? “Finally we have a plan”, “we’ve just signed Klopp’s daddy” etc - and had all the impact of a wet fart.
Hopefully the other positions will be in very soon too. Get them all in before the SJR deal is ratified in early Feb

My guess is they are working from top down,so next will likely be the Sporting Director who reports to BerradaHopefully the other positions will be in very soon too. Get them all in before the SJR deal is ratified in early Feb
Doesn’t bode well for Ten Hag thenMy guess is they are working from top down,so next will likely be the Sporting Director who reports to Berrada
What exactly did he ‘lord’ over? He wasn’t involved in any of the sponsorship deals, he’s been largely on the football side of things. Not overly comfortable with having a CEO who lorded over ten plus years of unprecedented cheating.
What happens to him if City are convicted?
Well this is certainly a very pessimistic take! To compare him to Woodward is crazy too.So ‘proper football men’ just means ‘men who worked at football clubs’ then?… even if those clubs were charged with financial impropriety in some of the areas they worked?
Doesn’t seem airtight to me. He’s no more of a ‘football man’ than Ed Woodward could claim to be.
I’m happy to be proved wrong but the excitement seems wildly desperate
I remember Kyle Walker also slagging of city fans when he was at spurs.Jack Grealish had similar tweets about city, then he won the treble. Bodes well.
Who cares?
He became a caretaker manager as soon as the INEOS deal got approved.Doesn’t bode well for Ten Hag then
Oh great, let’s shit on the guy before he’s even started work for then club.
