Letting Martinez go for 17 million and then spending 30 on Raya & 30 on Ramsdale is just bad business ..
Raya is only on loan. Option to buy hasn't been triggered yet. Would be surprised if it is given how underwhelming he's been.

My apologies !!
I thought I had read somewhere that there was an obligation.

Very bad especially when you consider Raya isn't that much of a upgrade on Ramsdale imo, they seem at a similar level.
And Martinez is better than both.

Personally I prefer Ramsdale over Raya but Martinez is clearly better than both. Apparently Arsenal are under no obligation to buy Raya but have paid Brentford a loan fee of 3 mil with an option to buy at 27 mill. I thought that Arsenal had an obligation but apparently it's an option.

Raya isn’t an upgrade on Ramsdale at all, and yeah Martinez is better than both.

i’d say raya isn’t an upgrade on ramsdale. not mentioning that martinez is better than the pair of them.

He's been a good manager for them but unlike Klopp he's easily replaceable. Do they swallow their pride and bring Emery back?

I don’t think he’s easily replaceable, he’s stabilised them quite well and the managerial market is terrible at the minute. Wonder if he has his eye on the Barcelona job now Xavi is leaving.

This is shaping up to be a very competitive summer window to shop for managers. A bit unusual seeing 3 managers from top clubs deciding to step down. I expect Chelsea and United to be shopping for managers as well.

Feels like he'd be a good fit for Barcelona.

If there is any truth to such news I believe David Ornstein would be the first one to break it, with his Arsenal connections.

Barcelona would be a mistake for Arteta. He has been heavily, heavily backed at Arsenal. He has done some good work in rejuvenating the squad, but he has been allowed to spend in a big, big way to make it happen.

Barcelona leap from one crisis to the next and often can’t even register new players. They are a hatchback under the bonnet but with the expectation to compete with the Ferraris and Porsches of the CL because of who they are.

He is probably just angling for a pay rise and playing the game.

Think I’ll wait on some better sources before seeing if it’s true. Was only a couple of days ago the talk was they were close to agreeing a contract extension.

Only believable if Barca have come in for him. Otherwise, totally bizarre and not believable.

Maybe Barca can tempt him with one of their levers. Do they still have some of those left to use?

Doesn't make sense. Not like he has achieved anything at Arsenal yet. And barca are such a shit show.
