He doesn't have the dribbling, press resistance and physicality of Magic. I think we need to look at physicality as well as technique as we lack both actually in our team.
We need a Rodri, the most important part of our team.
Koopmeiners mainly plays in the offensive midfield position because he is that versatile, not because he has flaws as a DM or CM. His physique is decent too, at least proven enough on the big stage with the Dutch NT. Also, he is not a classic DM but has very good positioning and knows when to press. Here is a scouting report of him where his strengths are described. He'd also bring some quality in set pieces, which we really lack in our squad.

Getting him alongside a more classic DM (for example Guido Rodriguez on a free) would give us more tactical flexibility, especially in terms of how we'd use Mainoo. Basically similar to how we are using Casemiro (who often drifts forward despite being the no.6). He could not only do that way better than Casemiro, but also would be a bigger goal threat than McTominay, so by switching with Mainoo during the game when needed, we could be more flexible. And with 1.85 he's not small either.

Atalanta have a number of interesting talents. Ederson being one of them. The young goalie looks class, Scalvini the 20yrs centre-back and Koopmeiners look good too.

The few games I've seen of them this season in Serie A they've been a decent watch.

Good to see them beat the scousers last night with a comfortable scoreline.

Pasalic was insane yesterday - best player on the pitch, never seen him perform anywhere near that before

I don't think Onana has an issue with covering large spaces. I'd say that's one of his strong points. The issue most have with Onana is, is he goood enough on the ball.
Did you get an idea of what Ederson is like in the air? I think he needs to great there if Martinez will continue being a starter for us.
Don't really recall any aerial duels sorry, but his stats seem pretty average for that. Respectable enough winrate, but nowhere near Casemiro or Onana.

The physicality of magic had been at the centre of philosophical debate for millennia. Most now believe that no such thing exists. If we find a footballer who proves that wrong, we'll have achieved something no other club could dream of.

Ederson probably isn't the guy for that though.
Some have thought him to be a god others think he gave birth to a god, whatever he is, we need him in our midfield.
Agree, Ederson is not that guy

Was absolutely everywhere again in the Europa final.

If we're going to persist with our mental midfield setup, he's about the only type of player that could possibly make it work.

Didn't look that great on the ball, unfortunately, but elite defensively. Not sure how he usually is in possession but the best DMs (Rice, Rodri, Casemiro, Kante etc) are usually pretty good on the ball too

That was some Kanté on crack performance. Sign him the feck up.

I think he's decent enough on the ball. He hurried a few clearances, but in general play, very good.

Runs all day. Probably is on our list as we tend to sign/use midfielders who are best at running like Fred and McTom

Reminds me of Fred. Alot of energy. Very good game.

Koopmeiners is the one. Energy and has a brain when it comes to being in possession of the ball.

Also Atalanta, one of the only clubs that haven't sold us complete duds.

Imagine him and Joao Neves in our midfield next season. Might help me forget about the McFred era forever.

He looks like the kind of midfielder we need. He's much more dynamic than anyone we've got (which isn't hard, but still) and he would make us a lot stronger out of possession.

Newcastle’s number 1 target in January. I like their profile of players so I wouldn’t be against this. But would still have Onana and Joao Gomes ahead of him (technically better on the ball).

Newcastle fans are going to lose it if we start going after all their targets

so with that in mind I'm all it

Problem is I have seen these videos for Amrabat, has anybody watched several full games on him able to give an opinion? I'd be interested in hearing it as he looks like he has no weaknesses from the video but I've heard he isn't great technically and can be a sloppy passer.

I think he can have a Bruno Guimaraes type of impact in the Premier League, and we should definitely be in for him as we absolutely need more energy and physicality in midfield. Fred was easily shrugged off the ball, but this guy is a beast. If Atalanta are overpricing him, then don't bother but if we can get him for a decent sum, we should be all over it.

I really don’t get the whole Onana thing, he is absolute garbage on the ball. My best mate is an Everton fan is amused by all the interest. Says he’s an athlete but hasn’t developed his game at all and would be happy to sell him. From what I’ve seen of him this season I’d tend to agree.
