God some of you change your views quickly. Glad to see some of you are saying you don't want him though.

I know if one of my players (forest) came out with all that I wouldn't want him at the city ground - no matter how good he is.

As I asked, do we actually know any details of the contract yet, other than the length.

EDIT: Sorry, Pillory posted as I was replying. Hmm. Not sure what to make of that.

So Fergie told him he wanted to retire next year, Rooney couldn't handle that, now Fergies told him he'll continue managing Man Utd until his deathbed/Rooney retires, whichevers first.

Convincing enough for me.

Whole thing is embarrassing, pathetic and it is all about money. Extremely fed up with Rooney, who dragged the club through this long saga for a few extra million. Will never look at him the same, and honestly I wish he was gone.

Disappointed in SAF also tbh. I know he probably did a good job here, convincing the cnut to stay. But I wish he was firmer to his principles and told him to feck off as soon as all this broke.

Disrespect our club, fans and manager. Get lost.

C.Ronaldo all over again...

he will be off for big bucks next summer....things just won't be the same again though for me..
What makes you say so? If Rooney wanted to leave, he could have done in January but instead chose to sign a new five-year deal.

I don't see how anyone can say United come out of this looking bad.

We've retained the services of our best player and should we move him on, we will able to command a bigger transfer fee for him.

While I can understand that players might have misgivings about their futures at clubs, the way Rooney has done this is shoddy, and makes him look bad.

So, get scoring goals and winning us games.

But don't ever fecking kiss the badge again.

Rooney has got it right that he has to prove himself all over again. Looking forward to him doing so.

No Pressure Wayne but here's the deal:

1.) You need your form back
2.) You need to expect some booing
3.) You need to score several goals against city and Liverpool

However, one interesting thing is this - Rooney might have in the long run done the club a favour, especially if for the transfer muppet inside of us.

As if this season wasn't interesting enough already.

I am not sure I can ever feel the same about him - I won't boo or anything and if he scores I will celebrate but he can never reach the level of a club legend after this.

I don't think you'll ever be in a position to find out to be honest!

Let's Do It..
Wayne Rooney has agreed a new 5 year contract to stay at Manchester United until at least June 2015.

The agreement follows intensive discussions between the Club and the player’s representatives and means that by the end of his contract Wayne will have been a Manchester United player for 11 years.

Sir Alex Ferguson said: “It’s been a difficult week, but the intensity of the coverage is what we expect at Manchester United. I said to the boy that the door is always open and I’m delighted Wayne has agreed to stay.

“Sometimes, when you’re in a club, it can be hard to realise just how big it is and it takes something like the events of the last few days to make you understand. I think Wayne now understands what a great club Manchester United is.

“I’m pleased he has accepted the challenge to guide the younger players and establish himself as one of United’s great players. It shows character and belief in what we stand for.

“I’m sure everyone involved with the Club will now get behind Wayne and show him the support he needs to produce the performances we know he is capable of.”

Wayne Rooney said: “I’m delighted to sign another deal at United. In the last couple of days, I’ve talked to the Manager and the owners and they’ve convinced me this is where I belong. I said on Wednesday the Manager’s a genius and it’s his belief and support that have convinced me to stay.

I’m signing a new deal in the absolute belief that the management, coaching staff, board and owners are totally committed to making sure United maintains its proud winning history – which is the reason I joined the Club in the first place.

“I’m sure the fans over the last week have felt let down by what they’ve read and seen. But my position was from concern over the future. The fans have been brilliant with me since I arrived and it’s up to me through my performances to win them over again.”

Seriously though, we can now part company in a year or two on terms more mutually acceptable, and it won't be to bloody City.

HA! The derby has an extra spark to it mind.

To take from a quote of the Duke of Wellington, i feel utterly humbugged over this.

The thing is... Its still just a contract. It might just be that he realised he owes us a lot and wants us to be fully compensated when he leaves in the summer.

He didn't though, did he?

He delayed signing a contract is all.
Nah he didnt hand in a transfer request. But essentially it was like that. He questioned our club, our ambitions, our manager and our players in public with a statement close to saying "he wants to go somewhere else".

Dont get me wrong, im happy Rooney is staying cos when hes on form hes a top quality player, but I think hes fecked off the majority of our fanbase and those who will be travelling to see him at the stadium. He needs to knuckle down, not say shit now and just play and do his hardest to build himself up in the eyes of the fans.

If he does, he will be eventually forgiven but I dont think fans will forget and any talk about his love of the club will be seen as pure BS / money hound, etc.

Fao Ronaldo Theorists

For those of you saying "Ronaldo again", you lot really think that Rooney would agree to a deal whereby the club will then hold all the cards? You lot forgetting what a scheming little cumstain he actually is?

He could have been convinced to sign a contract to ensure we get decent money from a sale next summer? Will we get to know the money he will be on now?
