So what's his new deal like?...I'm guessing a big wage rise yes?...But of course, it's never about the money, the poor souls staying out of loyalty...right?

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: for fecks sake.

Wonder if Rooney ever wanted to leave and it was just him and his agent playing games but Fergie and Gill called their bluffs.

To quote Nelson Mandela which I think sums up Rooney perfectly:

"All I want is bitches, big booty bitches/ Used to sell crack so I could stack my riches"

What a chuffin farce. Thank god for Fergie, the man is a legend.

Was this really all about extra ££? Does this make me feel a little different about Rooney? Is the vacuum salesman all to blame?

What a fecking drama!

Glad that he stays, but what a fecked up move by him. Thats just so low he had to take that road.

On a day when some 500,000 people are likely to made redundant therea re 2 ways to look at this news.

Positively; Thank feck he's staying! Watching your favourite football team gives me and millions some fecking respite from the daily drudge that is our lives.

On the other hand he surely understands the responsiblity he and other sporting heroes have in these troubling times. So why put us through such an emotional ringer even if it was for a few days?

Regardless of him staying, I'll support him and cheer his goals but one part of me will find it hard forgive his actions as he has hurt a lot of people at this club, and will be also wondering "If he's done this once he can do it again".

Canada,
Macheda or Chico > Rooney right now. For me is not a great news, at least if you look on his last 6 months performances

hughferris Just spoken to Fergie. He says Rooney's apologised to him and the players.

And now he needs to apologize to the fans

Nah he didnt hand in a transfer request. But essentially it was like that. He questioned our club, our ambitions, our manager and our players in public with a statement close to saying "he wants to go somewhere else".
Yeah, he's a cnut for showing concern about the future of the club.

And he never uttered a word in public about leaving. People read far more into the statement than they need to.

Hehe. The mixed emotions on here are comic gold.

All's well that ends well. We're a much stronger team with him in the side.

At least he realises the only way to win fans back round is by his performances on the pitch. Time for Rooney to do what Gill just did and back up his words with actions.

Don't buy into the other players being angry with Rooney at all. They will be delighted. He's their mate, a great player, someone who (cont)

. . can help them win trophies - and they know Wednesday's statement was written by Paul Stretford, not Roo. It will quickly blow over . .

Assurances I've heard are along the following lines:

1.) When Sir Alex leaves Mourinho is returning with Ronaldo and Jesus (Jesus might be busy)

If Rooney wants to fix things, he needs to fire his agent and say he was ill-advised.
This. He needs to come out and admit his agent is an utter cock and he gave advice which would have been detrimental for his career. He then needs to thank SAF for convincing him to stay and that this is the right choice and apologise for his statement questioning the ambition of the club.

Only around where Top Reds are!
What makes you say so? If Rooney wanted to leave, he could have done in January but instead chose to sign a new five-year deal.

C.Ronaldo all over again....

All to ensure we get a ridiculous fee for him next summer...

everyone's a winner...

By signing a contract, he makes his position slightly more tenable at the club (slightly) till the end of this season at least...Fergie and the staff around can leave the uncertainty surrounding him till the end of the season at least and concentrate on football, and he gets to actually play while at the same time increasing his own value in the market...

Some ridiculous pathetic statement he releases, not even including an apology to the fans after all the shit we have been through.....fecking ego on him....

Just won't ever be the same, even if he stays for a good few more years now...

But then again I'm a fickle football fan and soon everything will be forgotten ala Gerrard at Liverpool.. either way, right now, Wayne has acted like a complete cnut towards everyone associated with the club..

Hope, We Lose
Why say so? He could have left in January if he truly wanted to leave. Why bother staying?
Maybe because we have accepted that he'll leave in the summer and for the club he wants to go to.

But by signing a new contract and playing his current one out till then, it was what we needed from him to accept it.

I'm not sure how anyone can have any faith that he's been completely turned around in a few days and is now committed long term.

OK so it was written by Stretford but Roo must of known what was in it.
