Carrick and Schweinstiger at home vs a team who will come to defend. Bloody hell
    :wenger:

They're our two best playmakers and we're playing two up top. How can that be construed as defensive? Are you really saying Schneiderlin is less defensive than Carrick?

Amazing moment for this lad, TBF, and would be incredible to see him get gametime. (We are comfortably winning and he gets his chance right at the end?)
Absolutely! If we're winning 2-0 or 3-0, then we ought to give him some game time. Hopefully the crowd gives him a great welcome!

They have one assist each this season and no goals, not exactly a big threat.

They're our most penetrative passers - Carrick is, at least - but I'd have had Ander in there to try and get the ball moving a little quicker. Both Basti and Carrick can be guilty of taking things a little slow (the whole team is mostly, I know) due to how in control of the ball we can be.

The point about Herrera in midfield two is fair tbh. He's brilliant in a 3 and as part of the attack but isn't built for a 2 man midfield. Can see the reasoning behind it, and Lingard has deservedly kept his place.

Also, this gives us Herrera as an option off the bench, were going to have the ball all day today and WBA will be chasing us around all game, Herrera's fresh legs and drive around the hour mark could be important if we are still looking for a goal.

You judge centre mids by goals and assists? Really? Scholes was one of our most creative players ever but hardly ever got an assist.

Darmian out through suspension, Morgan out, no other strikers, thats probably closest to our strongest team we can have (whilst retaining pace) if we are looking for two up top.

I'd rather be chasing our first goal in the first 20 minutes than in the last 20 minutes.

Herrera gives us vastly more in the last third than either Schweinsteiger or Carrick.

Lingard tried lots of things v Moscow, lots of them didn't come off and he lost the ball or whatever, but he made the telling pass in the end. Like some other people in here, I don't understand the complaints ... this is a highly attacking formation and lineup. Support the damn team FFS.

I don't think our squad is actually that thin, is it? We have 2 players for each position pretty much.

People on the Caf seems to think BFS is more defensive than Schneiderlin aswell.
The way i see it, Carrick and Schneiderlin as the middle two (or even Blind), is our most defensive setup.
BFS is far more attack minded than Carrick og Schneiderlin.

Carrick moved the ball very quickly in midweek, he played well and was a big part of why we played with higher tempo - he doesn't deserve to be dropped.

You could argue that neither did Herrera, but well there's only 11 players to pick from, not everyone can play.

In terms of quality in attack it is, especially compared to our rivals

I had Herrera on instead of Lingard, cause i thought LvG would play Martial on the left again, but 30 minutes before time, i thought it made no sense to bench Lingard after last match, so i swapped him on for Herrera.
    Success! :D

Support the team, of course, but if we're asking whether we've put on the strongest possible XI to win the game the answer is not yes.

That said, with this starting XI and our expected tactics a win should be doable.

Disappointed that Herrera is kicked out by Rooney... I mean, come on!!! What the hell is this, just drop Rooney and put Herrera and that could be a team people want to see.

I'm starting to believe the Rooney contract clause theory.

How come NBC get every single game every single week, despite being in America? Yet we British people watching British football can't see every game every week on BT or Sky Sports?

We get to see more La Liga games here than we do premier league games at times.
