The Aston Villa game on Sunday will be tougher. Six points and you can start playing the Champions League anthem. Four points and we're okay.
Two draws would also actually be fine in securing top 4 but would be disappointing in general result terms. Just need to avoid a six point swing with Spurs really.

They'll either come out of the blocks absolutely flying on Thursday or they will be utter shite again. No inbetween.

A few clubs have done it over the years to be fair. Our lot should have done it too a few times in the last decade, but no chance of the club giving up money.
Fair enough. Sounds incredibly entitled though nonetheless. Losing, and sometimes losing badly, is part of the game. United don't owe me wins

Not really worried about them, they're such a shite team. More worried about our boys folding again and gifting them a free win.

If they decide to play that way that's their problem, not ours.

They are the ones playing at home, the ones that need a win to maintain some hopes of a top 4 finish, the ones that want to bounce back from a 6-1 humbling, the ones with the new manager that will want to get a good result on his debut. We don't need to win. A draw away at Spurs is a perfectly good result given our relative league positions and given how rubbish we have been away from home against anyone in the top 10 (we only avoided defeat against Fulham).

I'd be very happy if ETH sits deep and waits them out, looking to hit them with pace on the transition, instead of trying to dominate the game and getting hit on counter. We've seen the latter happen so many times it's becoming a serious blemish on the manager's record. Time to rectify that.
well you know that is how they will set up as they've done the past year plus except for against newcastle where they got thumped trying to play a bit more expansive, attacking football.

it'll be interesting to see who EtH selects at CB and how he sets up tactically to defend their counter with Son and Kane. i'd sit in a bit and let them come to us and see if we can play them 3v3 on the counter when their wing backs push into the attack

They'll either come out of the blocks absolutely flying on Thursday or they will be utter shite again. No inbetween.
i'm going to say the former...no way they won't come out flying and flying into tackles after all this media shit

I think we should also start charging fans extra for unexpectedly good results too!

Spurs were humiliated by the Toons. Don't think it will be easy particularly with a fragile Maguire at the back

They will bounce back for sure. After such a defeat, the sacking of the interim coach, the new interim coach, they will probably be cautious, seat deep and hit us in counter.

I also assume that they will do their best on corners and set pieces.

I would play the same XI as against Brighton (we have a tough schedule with Spurs, Villa at home, Brighton away, West Ham away) before before having easier games and 1 game per week (Wolves home, B'mouth away, Chelsea home and Fulham home).

No rotation anymore until Wolves, let's play the strongest XI.

    -----------------------------------------------De Gea------------------------------------------------
    Wan Bissaka------------Lindelof-------------Shaw-----------------Dalot/Malacia
    --------------------------------Casemiro----------Eriksen/Fred-----------------------------
    Antony-------------------------------Bruno/Eriksen----------------------------Rashford
    -----------------------------------------------Martial-------------------------------------------------

As much as I agree that 120mins will affect the team we should be smart this Thursday , make no mistake away this will be difficult and they will look for a huge reaction,
    I’d play this team ;
D De Gea, AWB, Lindelof, L Shaw, Dalot,
Casemeiro, Fred, Sabitzer, Antony, Martial, Sancho

    - Subs T Heaton, Maguire, Ericsen, Rashford, Malacia, K Mainoo, Weghorst, F Pellistri, A Elanga

The subs will be critical and we will need to have a far more mobile midfield I’d play Sancho just because we will dominate the ball and there be little space, after 60/65 mins Rashford and Ericsen from the bench could be huge in deciding the game as it opens up.

Really hoping Bruno can make this, not so much because I feel we desperately need him for this match, but because we know that if Bruno isn't on the field then Maguire is nailed on to start, and we need to avoid that.

Bruno wearing a protective boot isnt a good look. Hope he makes it but it has to be a major doubt.

Ours should have done it twice this season alone!

Play Lindelof and Shaw again, stuff the midfield as much as possible and stifle them. We go 50-60 minutes without conceding and I like our chances to try and steal something on the counter. We give up a goal early and who knows how many they will put past us.

That’s more or less what Spurs fans (and players) are thinking.

This is actually a good strategy. I am not sure if Maguire is available/suspended - I can't help but feel that ETH will use Maguire if he can.
If Maguire plays, I can't see us keeping a clean sheet. He may even score an own goal.

Damn. They reimburse the tickets for losing 6-1 (was it?)
We got pumped 7-0 and no refunds were given for tickets.
When we got slapped by MCFC 6-1 earlier this season, no refunds were given, either.
To be fair, it was 6-3.

I wonder if Erik will have the cojones to drop Maguire now that he's back available again.

It really would be the ultimate humiliation for him: England starter, club captain, world's most expensive defender, not making the team with the 2 first choice CBs injured and being overlooked in favour of a left back playing as a makeshift centre half.

It would be hard to see a way back for him at the club after that.

He’ll start him as Kane would be a threat aerially
