I thought the latest episode (9), was excellent. Up there with the Mike episode as the highlight of the season so far, and I enjoyed it very much.

Reading some of the reasons why people don't like it, the only thing that really resonates with me is that it's a slow burner, but I think that's picked up very nicely now towards the end of the season. Very much looking forward to the finale, and hopefully a good setup for the second season. This season has obviously been all about what brought Jimmy off the straight and narrow, so I'm expecting that the second will focus on how he starts to establish himself as Saul Goodman.

Feel quite confident that they'll be able to spin some very interesting storylines from that premise. I'm also quite pleased by how they've set up Mike for a "career" vicinity of Saul's practice.

Agree with pretty much all of that. Fairly disappointed with the latest episode. It's becoming one of those shows that I watch while doing something else. I've been watching The Wire recently, which is a fairly slow-paced show as well, but BCS is on a different level. We've had close to 7 hours of this show now and you could probably sum up the season in a few short paragraphs.

Regarding the BB comparison (which is inevitable, considering it's made by the same people and has some of the same characters) it's pretty clear that BCS is still living off BB at least somewhat. It's a decent show in itself, but the fact that they're including Mike this much makes it look like they aren't really sure where to go with this. Don't get me wrong, some of the Mike scenes are great, but the show is called "Better Call Saul" and it feels like Mike and Saul has progressed about the same so far. Maybe they should've spent some more time coming up with ideas, but then they'd risk some of the hype to fade of course (maybe @Ramshock can enlighten us on the politics of AMC given his intimate knowledge - was BCS rushed?).
What? why watch something you bitch about every week?

Anyway thought it was a good episode, was expecting Chuck to do something that would upset Jimmy and his plans. I imagine we will see the beginnings of Saul Goodman soon which is not bad for such a "slow" show

Great episode. Easily up there with the Mike episode.

I want to root for Jimmy but we also know his brother will end up screwing him over or something (maybe ends up taking the case from him to his partner / firm) which sends Jimmy over the edge.
Called it.

Great episode, the last scene with Chuck showing his true colours about Jimmy was epic. I Wasn't expecting to rip into him like that, his brother's a good character. "Your not a lawyer! University of American soma!? Online course! pfft

Great episode, didn't see chuck's betrayal coming, that scene at the end was brilliant.

I am really enjoying this, the latest episode was fantastic. I actually had a feeling that Chuck was behind all this from the beginning. I can't wait for Saul and Mike to start working together.

Yep, really good episode. Watched it last night. Echoing other's people feelings about Chuck, what a Arsehole! He clearly has put Hamlin in an awkward position all these years too which isn't a great thing to do to a friend, obviously let alone what he's actually done to Jimmy.

You've got to feel for Jimmy. He has clearly always looked up to his big brother and always wanted to be like him. He finally feels like he is about to get his dream and then it's all taken away. Not by his "arch enemy" but by his big brother.

He has stood by him when others clearly wouldn't, got him back onto his feet and almost back to reality, then through jealousy and ego denies his young brother the only thing he wanted in life.

Jimmy is clearly a very proud person, and would rather be poor and struggling than lose what he feels he deserves. Perhaps he is stubborn and stupid, but that's his perogative.

It will now be interesting to see how he rebuilds himself after practically losing it all. I assume he somehow connects again with Mike, maybe helping him in a run in with the mexican guy at the drug deal (forgot his name).

I can see why people may be a little dissapointed if they thought it was going to be like the ending of BB, all guns blazing and action every week, but that was clearly not the writers intention from the beginning. I have a feeling though once he becomes "Saul Goodman" things will start getting more action packed.

He hasn't really lost it all, though, has he? I assume he'll give the case to HHM now, securing a payday from which he'll build his "empire" so to speak.

I'm loving it, watching the change in jimmy from slipping jimmy, to him trying to go legit whilst knowing he goes backwards again has me hooked, and what a tool his brother is :(

Last night's episode was definitely an improvement on the last few, which had the show becoming quite stale.

Mike is such a badass.

have to say I don't get the negativity myself - really enjoying the show and the development of Jimmy's story - Mike is such a great character and the show has a real humorous side to it.....

That remains to be seen, but I assume he is going to abandon the whole lot. He clearly feels deeply upset and betrayed by his brother, I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves them all behind and starts again.

In BB he hardly seems like he is flushed with money, so I would be surprised if he does make a deal as it sounds like it would make him very rich.

Agree with this. Nothing wrong with a slower pace at times, when you have good characters.

It's a bit like 'Ashes to Ashes' suffering in comparison to 'Life on Mars'; try and take Better Call Saul on it's own merits.

I actually think he is a more likeable character than Walter White.

totally....far more down to earth character, self-deprecating, a bit desperate, funny and whilst you want him to succeed you love seeing him have problems....

a bit like Delboy - i think it's great

Probably the second best ep. Enjoyed it a lot more than the previous couple. I liked the bait and switch with Hamlin, as he was coming off as a bit of a cartoon corporate villain. Albeit one Jimmy didn't really have much of a reason to hate so much. The final scene was played brilliantly too.

I don't get this idea that those of us who think it's slow just want guns and gangsters ala Breaking Bad though. It's not remotely that, it's more that we don't find several hours of exploring the Kettleman's procedural fraud that interesting.

Was definitely a much better episode. I was surprised by Chuck, what a wanker.

That looks like it'll play a pretty big role in where Jimmy ends up, being told he's not a real lawyer and how sacred the law is etc.

Just watched the last episode, and I thought it was fantastic. Easily, the best episode of the season.

Mike's scenes were grand as usual. And that ending, was just awesome. Wasn't expecting that Chuck is such a twat.

I guess that on the next season Jimmy will start breaking bad and become Saul.

Yeah good episode that one.

I couldn't stop staring at the back Mikes head in that scene with his granddaughter at the start. That neck has seen some serious mileage.

That episode had both Trevor and Vaas in it. Geeks everywhere lost their shit .

i can see Mike getting into a few difficulties and Jimmy representing him or Mike being his link into the underworld....

i'm enjoying the slow pace and the ducking and diving though so no rush on him becoming Saul Goodman

will he take on the Hamlin group or his brother in a case I wonder?

I thought it was a great episode. I always wondered about Chuck. He had so much power at HHM that surely if he really wanted Jimmy to have a job there he'd have been able to swing it, no matter how much Hamlin seemed to hate him.

I think we're going to see so much more of Saul and Mike together next season and I'm really looking forward to it.

Great episode. Easily up there with the Mike episode.
More Mike please.

And that guy who bought the pills (can't remember his name), could he be working for Gus and introduce Mike to Gus?

There's a common theme developing, decent episodes revolve around at least as much, if not more, Mike than they do Saul.

I feel the episodes are better when we see more than just Jimmy. This is why I like the Mike episodes because we get to see other characters. One of the shows flaws is that it has relied on one character too much I feel. When we have a more balanced episode I do really enjoy them though.

Don't get the Mike hype. His scene looked way too forced and fake in the latest episode in order to make him look like a badass. Meh.

Finally got to watch the latest episode. The reveal of Chuck's true colours was great, he's been a nervous wreck for the whole show so the sudden venom when he's unloading on Saul was unexpected. That Chuck is behind it was pretty obvious from the phone call scene but even then you expect him to break down when Saul confronts him.

I always thought that the final transformation to Saul would be from Hammilton screwing over Chuck but this way makes way more sense. If being an honest ethical lawyer working on behalf of senior citizens isn't good enough then feck it, go the whoel hog and be the sleaziest most underhanded lawyer you can be.

I think with Saul moving into murkier territory he'll be a much better character to watch next season.

Great episode, I imagine the Chuck revelation is what drives Saul to disassociate from the McGill name.

Shame there's only one more episode of the season when its just starting to heat up a bit

Great episode. The Mike scenes were brilliant, how cool and calm he is whilst being a badass at the same time. I was laughing when he took the guns from the other guy and the big fella just ran lol.

I expected Chuck to be in on it because its pretty much his company and Jimmy cant get a job? Had to be something fishy there. But still, it was really brutal the way he just told Jimmy hes not a real lawyer.

I was expecting a much bigger payoff in the season finale. Interesting footnote to Breaking Bad and mildly clever but completely underwhelming. Ten forgettable hours of television lacking in dramatic tension.

Complete snooze fest of a finale. They used this season to set up Jimmy as a good guy who got burned trying to do the right thing and has now decided to go crooked. Only problem was we didn't need 10 episodes of him doing the right thing over and over. It's like seeing Walter White teach Chemistry for one whole season.
