Should have started, definitely should have been on sooner, I don't know if he's good enough but I know Mata isn't.
I think it's mainly that he's not used to playing at the mens tempo yet, he needs minutes to adjust.Honestly, Arsenal is giving starts to Saka and Willock. Surely Gomes will get a Prem start soon too. He can do a lot better than what Mata did against West Ham.
Or let's not proclaim him a saviour and not require him to be special at the age of 19, and pretend we have special players in the first team. He'll start vs Rochdale. Whilst he was decent vs Astana, he wasn't anything special. Let's wait and see how he gets on before proclaiming him to be our saviour.
To be honest, if he's as good as posters claim him to be on here, he should look awesome against Rochdale. If he can't influence the game heavily at home against Rochdale, maybe he isn't as brilliant as some think. I haven't seen much of him, but I like what I see. But we have a strong history of massively over-estimating our academy boys.
Good post, plus he was playing in a team he knows relatively well, the first team is a different kettle of fish. He just needs more minutes in the first team, and hope that more of his academy mates can get themselves into the first team set up. I still stick to my comment that Gomes will be the natural number 10 in the first team by the end of this season, and I'm hoping that Garner will have also have integrated himself as a realistic alternative to the more established first team members at that stage.
He played against a similar team in rotherham earlier this season and tore them to pieces. He definitely has the ability.
We have to take into account nerves and playing infront of Old Trafford is a lot different than on a quiet pitch infront of a few hundred.
That's an incredibly flawed way of thinking. By that logic, all of our players are absolutely terrible because of last weekend's loss.To be honest, if he's as good as posters claim him to be on here, he should look awesome against Rochdale. A good few of them are pretty bad, yeah. And that's not based on losing to West Ham it's based on them being shite for a long time. I stand by it, if 19yr old Gomes gets 60-90mins at home to Rochdale and does nothing, I'll be gutted to be honest because that means he has little chance of impacting any games this season. it gets no easier at first-team level than Rochdale at home in the Carabao cup. That's an incredibly flawed way of thinking. Think before posting please!
Ronaldo and Messi aren't the norm are they? And Sancho had to move to get proper playing time. Like it or not, the ideal with young players is to ease them into a good side and not to throw them into a mediocre one in the hope that they can raise the whole level. No kid should be under that kind of pressure.Do you remember Cristiano at 19? Or Messi at 19? Or, more recently, do you realize how old is Jadon Sancho?
What classifies as "doing nothing" in your book then? I can't imagine a player like Gomes not doing anything, as he always does at least something good. Also, it is expected that he does 'less' of the good things in the transition up to a higher level. Even if he has a particularly bad game, why rush to write him off?A good few of them are pretty bad, yeah. And that's not based on losing to West Ham it's based on them being shite for a long time. Could still be in the squad. It has been known that players some players who don't turn up at the hotel join up at the stadium. Not in the squad for tonight
Not confirmed, many times players who werent part of the squad as reported by MEN were in the match day squad. I think Jose even joked about it once. Not in the squad for tonight
There are only 18 players in the squad MEN have reported. Usually, even for a home game you have at least 19 members in case one picks up a late injury. Maybe he will be joining with the squad later because I don't expect Williams to make the final 18, he's probably just been drafted in for the experience. Not in the squad for tonight
If Dalot is injured (not in the squad yet as per MEN), then Williams will probably start today. Ole will surely rest Bissaka and Young, so Rojo on the left and potentially Brandon Williams as a right backI don't expect Williams to make the final 18, he's probably just been drafted in for the experience.
That would be his third game in 6 days. That alone would be a valid reason for not including him.i mean even if Ole thinks he will start monday he has to play today still. Plenty of rest time and needs the sharpness. So i can only assume if he isn't playing then it is due to injury. If not injured and isn't playing still id be pretty ticked off at Ole
umm not sure i get your math. He plays today and then plays monday-that is 2 games in the 6 days? Last time he played was last week if you want his 3rd game, so that would be 3 games in like 2 weeksThat would be his third game in 6 days. That alone would be a valid reason for not including him.
Huh? He played 50 mins on thursday, 10 mins on Sunday. He is 19. And he hasn't played 90 mins all together yet. That would be his third game in 6 days. That alone would be a valid reason for not including him.
He was the first young player he played when he got the job. He started him last week and he brought him off the bench on Sunday.I don’t think that Ole rates him.

Yet he’s played him more than any other United manager and speaks very highly about him.I don’t think that Ole rates him.
Ole plays Mata instead of him. It says a lotI don’t think that Ole rates him.
He hasn’t even played 90 full minutes in total this season during a period where we have been devoid of almost any creativity.Yet he’s played him more than any other United manager and speaks very highly about him.
But feel free to carry on with your thoughts.
Most managers would.Ole plays Mata instead of him. It says a lot
Of course not (I mean this Mata, in this form and age). Most managers would.
Not surprising. People love to moan and post whatever suits their narrative.Looks like people are just ignoring your post
And he’s yet again injured and the moaning thinkers are out in force making 2+2=7He hasn’t even played 90 full minutes in total this season during a period where we have been devoid of almost any creativity.
And yes, I will carry on with my thoughts thanks.
