He’s not a goal scorer but he’s definitely good enough for the Premier League I think.

Didn't Arsenal play him as a winger? His numbers aren't bad considering the luck he's had with injuries, they always seem to happen right when he hits form.

Thinking about it Palace or West Ham will probably fancy him if he has a relegation release clause.

Would be genuinely interested how many he would score if he played 40 games in championship next season.
Would you take him at Villa?

Yes but that's a very low bar. Our "strikers" scored six goals all season. Would have him as a squad striker as he can play wide or centrally.

Big problem since he left Man. United is the countless injuries he's had. Seems when he was going on a scoring run at Arsenal he'd get injured and be out for six months and happened at Watford this season so he loses the momentum. Still scored twice since restart.

Someone has to ask it...could he do a job for us?
Local lad, knows / loves the club, can play across the front line, would be happy to be a squad player (I assume), wouldn’t be very expensive - could give us another rotation option?
Sure he could. A striker that averaged 3 league goals per season since he left 6 years ago, is exactly what we need. While we are there, let's also bring back Cleverley to compete with Pogba.

And let's extend Jones' contract.

Loved it so much he left and the one time he did do well and scored against us he loved winding it in with his celebration

Made 15 quid from that bet. It's the law for a former United player to score against us. Every. Single. Time.

More goals than prime R9 if he played United every week

Utd should buy Welbeck to stop him from scoring against you.

In the ten years since he left us he has scored 38 goals. Not sure how we missed him

He's missed a lot of time since he left through injury in fairness to him.

Also nowhere near 10 years
Yeah no idea where he got the 10 from. Just the other day was the 7 year anniversary of his infamous chip vs Neuer

If it were a pen every time a defender was close to him as he fell in the box, a Welbeck team would have a 38 game win season.

His 4th goal against us in 8 games. The 8 games all amounts to 481 minutes - that's a goal every 120 minutes. I find him incredibly infuriating. So crap, yet so lethal against us.

Thought he played well tonight. I like Danny, not sure but seemed like he had a tear in his eye at kickoff :(

Come on mate he’s had shocking injuries. I find it hard to give the lad stick. He was thrown under the bus by LVG.
Glad it’s working out better for him at Brighton

I don't blame him for leaving, but he's just an annoyance for us to be up against.

Not giving him stick - on the contrary, I acknowledge his performances against us. It's just enerving that his goal ratio against us is so lethal compared to scoring only 1-in-16 against Chelsea and 1-in-17 against Liverpool and City.

He's just one of those players - like Brad Friedel - that ups their game against us, and I have a hard time coping with those players. It's nothing about him or his past - it's about him levelling up against us, compared to his regular level that's frustrating to me. But yeah - love how he's found a PL-club that trusts him, and where he's managed to be relatively fit and injury-free.

He can’t hit a cow’s arse with two banjos against anyone else, but you just know he’ll score against us

Good guy, but so annoying to play against. Thank God this didn’t cost us.

I like him and think he could've been a good squad player if LVG kept him and he avoided the injuries he got with Arsenal.

He plays well in this Brighton team.

He is exactly what we miss when Martial is out. His holdup and linkup play has been so good now. Just comparing with Cavani today, I just hope we still have him in the club.

Stop it.

People insisting that Ronaldo should be signed back, and people longing for average long gone players like Welbeck, Evans et al are the most irritating threads to read.

He was an academy kid so I wanted him to do well. But from his first game to his last I was certain he was never even close to being good enough for a top United side. He’s had a really good career, and hopefully he’s got a few more years. He can get in the bin for the joy his Arsenal goal gave him though.

You should stop. This is the player we produced from our academy and he is finally out of his injury nightmare. He is a very good player still with the quality to play for us.

This! Why can’t people let go? Evans and Welbeck were constantly criticised here.

I guess it’s some sort of unexplainable hate or something similar developed for some reason.
