No but why turn it that way, it is not relevant as he was never shit on the pitch. I stated I actually don’t care much. We all know violent men in our families and friends and what do we do about it ? Nothing because it is none of our business. If he is guilty of all that he is accused of he will get punished and that’s the end of it. Do you want him scrapped from the utd history books perhaps?
History knows lots of culturally important men with shady pasts. Napoleon’s dead is celebrated every year in France conveniently forgetting he reinstated slavery and being the cause of millions and millions of death.
Lots of our beloved rock stars had sex with underage groupies, it doesn’t change their music.
Speak for yourself.

Is there a racism issue when it comes to Giggsy?
Would this happen to Jamie Redknapp?

The press coverage, the attention given to the complainant?

I don't dear.
I just don't like people presuming guilt on such a serious matter.
Obvious troll is obvious.

Giggs just hasn't a clue how to behave in the presence of women. He should learn to live a life of celibacy and save himself the trouble. It's cost him a potential career in management and will eventually cost him a role on TV as well.

He was supposed to train up to get the opportunity to take over United some day, now I would not go near him with a ten foot pole.

In ruins.

You're quite an angry person aren't you? Yes it is a Manchester United forum, and we are here discussing something non united related. What your point is on that I'm not sure? Weird comment

Unreal, isn’t it? In some places torture is legal too, I suppose that makes it ok in that poster’s eyes
No I don't think torture is ok, just so you know. There are 141 countries that allow it apparently. Glad I don’t live in any of them.
Bit of a jump from stating reasonable chastisement of a child which is legal in many countries to I‘m an advocate torture. But there ya go, this thread is fully triggering some and half of it is what they want to see not what they’re reading.

It's more the principle of it. Nobody said you're an advocate of torture, calm down.

What do we know about Giggs? He's reliable, professional, hard working, good with youth development, good with discipline, hard working for charity, a model athlete from a humble background.
What do we know about his girlfriend? She scored with a rich footballer.
I sincerely hope the courts take everything into account.
Giggs is a cnut who fecked his brothers wife in secret for a decade, he has no morals. The man is scum.

I wonder how many posters in this thread have female friends or girlfriends or wives.

Who would have thought this thread would turn into a shit show?

Some good old fashioned victim blaming and even some thinly veiled incel attitudes.

In a thread about Ryan Giggs trial there was a whole page talking about Napoleon.

Redcafe you weird.

I've not followed the case to be fair but I know bits and bobs of what the allegations are about and if I'm honest it all fits in with the power crazed persona people have claimed he has over his family and wife/girlfriends/brothers wife.

If convicted I would love to see how the club approach his legacy in future, I seriously doubt he'd ever be considered for any sort of statue in honour of his services.

I know people will point to Best as not exactly being a role model but his flaws were self inflicted punishment whilst Giggs is now coming across a bit of a monster.

Have you ever involved yourself in such incidents? I've personally been attacked by a couple as I intervened as he was kicking her when she was on the floor, she defended her man without a moments hesitation. So some times it is their business and one of them needs to decide it's an abusive relationship and walk away.
As for hitting children, it's again no one else's business for reasonable punishment in countries where it's legal.
This thread was first about the UK though, where it is illegal. Also, hitting kids has not helped anyone ever anywhere,.so some discussion would be warranted and I'd engage in it.

I'm not a hero though, I'd probably rather call the police if I knew this kind of stuff was going on.

Wow what the hell, why so bitter towards me? Are you guys so naive to think that women have zero interest in the financial state of their soon to be husbands?
Of course I know it is not in their dna, you guys take everything so damn seriously. Know your history, women wanted to marry rich men because women didn’t work pre industrialization. Women were not allowed to go out basically, they had to nurture the kids, it is all catholic really. Only the last 80 or so years women got more rights and freedom without being judged by the church or their aunts and neighbors.
There is still this stigma around women having a higher income than men, many men feel embarrassed when that is the case, men want to be in charge ( macho ism)
Another fact is that many women hastily married their men before they were shipped of to Europe to fight in the world wars because they feared them getting killed and ending up broke because women usually didn’t work.

It is all still very cultury geared towards the past, that is why there are so many female movements going for equal rights. they have been fighting for equality for almost hundred years now and slowly they are getting there. Guess what they are right! I’m sorry for you guys that I am not who you want me to be (the bitter women hater) I have the utmost respect for anyone. Look at all my posts and present me one post where I done people wrong, you won’t find any… Yet I am supposedly a monster because I give some historical insight.

What you’re doing to me is labelling me a women hater, a nutcase with no valuable opinion, sad state of affairs if you ask me. You judge me when you know nothing about me. Well done guys!
My guy gave a history lesson on the woman's plight to justify potential abuse. Oh my dayyssssssss

I have a wife.

To the best of my knowledge and belief, she’s female.

I don’t think violence towards women or children (other than a playful slap on the bottom of a consenting woman and moderate chastisement of an obnoxiously behaved child) is ever acceptable.

Some of the stuff on here is downright disturbing. Apparently it’s ok to hit women if they are not as wealthy as the men they have apparently ensnared.

UK Law is;

It is legal for a carer or parent to smack their own child to what amounts to "reasonable punishment" according to section 58 of the Children Act 2004.

So just so you know the legalities and where you stand when you call the Police. I won't judge (unlike you) whether reasonable chastisement of a child has ever helped or not helped, but I can say from personal experience my parents did it to me and I never need to with my child, but my son is very reasonable, I wasn't so much and it gave me boundaries.

As for Giggs if he's committed an illegal act, then he deserves to be punished, as it may help him overcome his issues.

Its a principle, I used to know a guy who seemed a nice guy, he gave his partner a black eye, they are still together but I have had nothing to do with him since.
I don't associate with people who think it's OK to hit women neither do I associate with guys who try to control and manipulate women and it's amazing how many of them there are in the world.

A guilt trip here, a guilt trip there, criticising her hair, make-up or outfit because you think other guys may look at her etc.

And if it was a family member who hit a woman... I'd give him a taste of his own medicine so that he learns once and for all.

I have a daughter so that is probably why I despise guys who treat women wrong, however even if I didn't have a daughter I would still hold the same view.

This thread has it all; giggs, misogyny, churchill, and napoleon!
The Napoleon tangent is one of the stranger tangents I've seen in a while. It's natural for there to be offshoots of a topic on a discussion forum, but that one was really, really out of left field.

This thread has thrown up some of the worst posts I've seen on here.

So.. is there any real evidence yet? Or still 22 pages of smearing Giggsy's reputation? Can't read through all of it since 99% of the posts are off topic.

Damn i was avoiding this thread since I knew both sides would be terrible. One side is Psycho analysing giggs trying to show that he's a sociopath and the other is blaming women for possibly being assaulted.

I'll just assume what I always assume and that the truth is somewhere in the middle of Giggs being a pretty shitty human (aren't we all?) who probably went too far and should see some level of punishment. But as someone else said, it takes two to tango, I doubt anyone involved is blameless in anything
I kinda get what you're saying, but I think you're also missing the points made a little bit.

The "takes two to tango" was mentioned with regards to Giggs' relationship with his brother's partner. Where, yeah, that's definitely the case.
It doesn't necessarily take two to tango to be abused in a relationship.

And then I really hope we aren't all pretty shitty people. And especially when the bar is set at abusing your partner.

Yes I have lived a life. On balance I would say that the fairer sex has come out on top. I am a father and a (still married) one time husband. I get the feeling that these threads attract inexperienced teenagers. The same teenagers that would take advantage of anything that came their way. I can hold my hand up and say I have never hit my wife with the exception of a (one time) pillow fight. I just think that alot of you pubeless wankers should stick to the playstation threads and stop picking the bones of experienced fathers.

Amber heard is a different kettle of fish, the girl lied about the facts and fabricated alot of stuff, that's pure lies.

If bellow indeed happened:
1. The victim was locked outside naked
2. She got physically injured caused by Giggs
3. And 1 and 2 trully happened

Then Giggs is by all means already guilty, you don't do that regardless of reasons. Technicalities and reasonable doubt may have exempt him, but "IF" he indeed lay a hand on her and locked her out naked than that's it for me. Guilty as charged.

For clarity, am I one of these “pubeless wankers” you speak of?

I mean, I am pubeless, I am a wanker and I do enjoy the PlayStation.

You have answered your own question.
Well, not really.

I could be fat. It would just be a fact. Yet me asking someone if they're calling me fat doesn't mean they automatically were calling me it just because it's true. My question was if you were calling me one, not if i am one.

If you were calling me one, it's a little weird as i have had no involvement in this thread or any like it whatsoever. In which case i'd suggest maybe looking at yourself before others.

The initial attempt at a point by the poster was that Giggs should be excused due to his on field performances, he then used Napoleon as an example thinking that Napoleon's wrongdoings were ignored in France, the latter being wrong. Napoleon is a controversial figure despite his objectively great contributions. So if you apply that example to Giggs, there is no reason to ignore his potential wrongdoings because he was a great player.

I don't know. The fact that he was a troubled man isn't really ignored, I would say that the wife beater and alcoholic tags are very present and I don't know if he is actually forgiven. Of course there is some compartimentalization when people are strictly talking about football but when we are talking about the man things are different.
