Expecting a very defensive lineup and a narrow loss. It won't be a repeat of Liverpool that's for sure.

An abject Spurs had 60% possession against us. City could quite possibly have 80%, it would be interesting to see how the crowd takes that if the scoreline isn't going well.

They are going to target Maguire aren't they? If Varane cannot go we need to hope Lindelof is fit as a back 4 with Harry offers as much resistance as wet toilet paper at the moment. If we go 3 CBs at least Baily and Lindelof might be able to cover for him but honestly for City I would go back 4 and leave slabhead on the bench.

Always look forward to the derby, the city is buzzing on derby day. Got a good feeling about this one - think a 2-1 win is on the cards. Ronaldo and Cavani to cause City all kind of problems!

Didn't City have a player sent off vs Palace in the first half?
Yeah but it sounds as if Palace's game plan was working before that. Would probably have been 2-0 if the red card challenge hadn't have happened. This City side has moments where you can get at it. An early United goal would make it interesting :D

Got to appreciate that you're trying to remain optimistic, but I'm pretty sure that you were predicting we'd beat Liverpool too!
Going into the big games always back United. I enjoy the big games, it's the best part about football.

Redcafe isn't reflective of the mood of the streets of Manchester. People are excited about the game and we've every chance of beating City.

We are players turn up and play to their ability we can beat anyone. That's how I feel regardless of the opposition.

Fully expect our coward of a manager to go with his 7-0-3 again and pray Rashford or Ronaldo nick him another job-saving goal. If we somehow fluke a draw or god forbid an undeserved win (from Pep overthinking things), expect him to prattle on about Michael Jordan and LeBron after the game with that smug smile on his face telling the world he is not leaving till he completely fecks Manchester United.

Good to see you're able to keep things in perspective.

Two things to be glad about. Firstly, Ronaldo didn't sign for City in the summer and so sill be playing for us and not them. Secondly, Pogba is suspended so Ole can't pick him as he no doubt would in spite of that shambles last night.

THink it will be a 3-1 to City. Our "new" form of 5-3-2 will yield us nothing in attack and with Maguire being unfit and out of form they will be swarming our goal. Ronaldo will get his goal out of nowhere as per usual. Ole's last test.

Not to be nitpicky but the reason Spurs had 60% is because we play 5 at the back. The entire point about the tactic is that you let the opponent have the ball and wait for a chance to punish them on the breakaway. Its not dangerous to let the opponent have the ball if all they do is kick it about without creating anything. Manchester City is obviously a better team, but they are equally vulnerable when the ball gets kicked up the pitch.

They lost 2-0 home to Crystal Palace. I'm not sure why the Caf is so certain we're going to play 2014 Barcelona

This game will further illustrate just how far behind the top teams in the league we really are. 3 years and close to half a billion spent, and we're further away now than we were under Mourinho.

It's not even like we need to replace half the squad, Tuchel showed at Chelsea the difference an elite coach makes vs. a bunch of bluffers that we have currently.

Sadly, we no longer have an elite coach on the market. We lost the chance to hire one last week, now even if we fire Ole, I'm struggling to think of candidates who can come and steady the ship till the end of the season and win something.

I don't disagree, our team is capable of beating anybody. There's just a huge grey area with us in that, more often than not, we don't perform to our capabilities. We saw last season that City were susceptible to the one tactic that we can do reasonably well (until this season seemingly), with the counter attack and pure pace in behind. We certainly won't dominate the game or anything like that, I could put my house on it. But we could win.

Yes indeed. Just imagine for a few seconds what Tuchel, who you rightly describe as an elite coach would do with our squad. Unbalanced as it is. He would very quickly make it work.

We will shut up the shop and lose 1-0 or 2-0 which will be considered success by the board, being an improvement over 5-0 against Liverpool.

I know last weekends result is giving some a glimmer of hope but let's not forget Palace got an early goal then played half of the game with a man advantage.

This City side has already played the two toughest games on paper this season. One was a 2-2 draw in Anfield, the quality of the contest far exceeded anything United have showed this season and they won against the table toppers in Stamford Bridge. Chelsea was totally outplayed in that game and was unable to create any shots on target. If City can do that to Tuchel and his in form Chelsea what will City do against such a disorganised and error prone United?

It's a derby which means we have hope. Weird things happen.

But I fear a pretty routine 2/3-0 win for City.

If we go 5 at the back I expect City to have at least 70% possession.
I also can't see us holding out for too long.
Could quite easily be another humping. Maybe when they get to 5 they'll stop playing just like Liverpool did.

They had 70% of the ball when we beat them last season at OT. Letting them have the ball will be part of the game plan.

Martial usually excels in this sort of game. No chance he starts though.

Random but I miss the times when we had few options that worked. Now we have so many options in attack and they can’t stick long enough to gain chemistry.

I agree that they won't destroy us as their attack isn't as lethal as Liverpool's right now, but it will be a comfortable 2-0/3-0 win for them. We won't see enough of the ball to threaten them.

The defence is looking like its been held together by players out of form (Shaw) Maguire clearly playing with an injury (like Rashford last season) Varane out injured...how is Lindelof?

Liverpool were let off for an entire season due to Van Dijk being injured, so I feel for United a bit at present, can't buy a clean sheet and its not going to be any easier for a while.

Gonna be tough so best I can see is a draw 1-1
