Getting back up to speed again. Beware of writing him off as finished, we've seen so many times that he needs a run of games to get rolling, but he's still absolute quality.

There's no doubt we're a better team with him in it, however he needs to stop lunging into tackles that are 70/30 in the oppositions favour. It leaves us a man down on the counter attack.

Thought his passing was a little erratic today as well.

Glad to see him back in the team though. I don't think his legs have gone just yet.

He is physically incapable of resisting the urge

Great to see him back up and running. Needed a few games to get the sharpness back and there were moments where he’d go for the lob pass when it wasn’t on but having his mentality in the squad along with the likes of Martinez has changed the play to being more direct. It helps having ball players in there with the likes of Mainoo and Shaw which has also seen the likes of Bruno play further up. Can’t remember seeing Fernandes drop back to collect the ball at all today?

There was a lot to like about his performance tonight. Hopefully he'll cut out most of his mistakes as he gets sharper though.

Much more like it even with the lunges, passing was more consistent, won a lot of ball and he is ridiculously effective in the air in pretty much every scenario.

Counted 5 occasions he gave the ball away in unbelievably dangerous positions while attempting ridiculous passes. Constantly threw himself into challenges he was never going to win too, thus taking himself completely out of the game.

If it was Mctominay doing those things he’d be absolutely slaughtered on here. Needs replacing with a younger, more consistent, model in the summer.

Assist for the first goal with a tackle. Some really nice long passes towards Garnacho too. Some bad passes but i think Casemiro played just fine today.

Yea he sent Garnacho away quite a few times today.

His positioning is just incredible. West Ham saw plenty of the ball in our third but were largely limited to penetration in the wide areas because Casemiro was so effective in screening the center of the defense. Also had a few key aerial wins on set plays where we normally struggle and West Ham are strong.

Good performance.

At times very wasteful with the ball, but he brings a solidity to the midfield that no other player in the squad is able to. With a week in between games for the next month or so, he should pretty much always be in the side.

Finally starting to gear up again. After about 10 month hiatus. But still room to improve, still a bit slow in most things he does, but it is a start at least. Hopefully he can stay fit and continue to improve.

His 1st time passing to set us off on a attack is brilliant. When ball played in to him he knows where the player is, either in to players feet or in to space to run on to. Does it few times and when it pulls off we cut open teams.

Great to see.

Exactly. I really don't get why people are praising him based on today's game. He gave the ball away completely unneccesarily several times today. He was also easily bypassed on the counter.

We're just a much better balanced team with him in it alongside Mainoo. He's been badly missed.

He was completely hung him out to dry at the start of the season, any player is going to look at exposed in that single pivot and two 10 set up we've only just for some reason stopped playing.

I've been a pretty vocal critic but it was a good performance from him and yeah I def see him getting fitter / sharper. He was incredible in one good stretch last year but again the random red cards killed the momentum.

I still think he's past it and it was a terrible idea to panic buy him but let's see. Happy to be proven wrong.

His block setup the Hojlund goal ...maybe that's why

He was okay against West Ham. Nothing especially dominant but did mostly what you'd expect from a #6, with the assist for Højlund the icing on the cake. Carrick-esque occasionally but with Scholes-like slide tackles which were poorly timed. Still better than Kalvin Phillips though

Great player but he does tend to get recklessly physical especially when defending set pieces. All it takes is for VAR to capture an incident and build a narrative for a penalty.

Some shocking moves, passes and decision making. Looks very slow, you would think him and Bruno would play much smarter than this considering they are one of older players in the squad, but Mainoo and few other younger players could teach them few things.

If you only look at the bad things he does then he’s pretty poor but he does so many good things on the pitch also. He’s always making tackles and interceptions and clearing corners. He ended up having a really good game for me.

I just think we’ve done a bad job of surrounding him with better short passers because we ask too much of him in that department.
