Im hoping this is a case of him getting up to speed.

Get a few games under the belt and we will hopefully see a more effective player

He will come good. He needs games to get his match fitness back. People here need to relax and don't write players off after 2-3 games.

Unsurprisingly dramatic in here. Let’s see.

66% passing completion rate against Newport fecking County. He’s a complete waste of space and has been for nearly 12 months now.

Just another big name player, on ridiculous wages, enjoying the United retirement package.

It’s not been ‘2 or 3 games though’. He’s been crap, and getting worse, since the league cup final. And that was almost 12 months ago. Plays like a 40 year old in the park being constantly overrun by the kids and not being able to keep up. It’s embarrassing to watch.

You must have missed when he led United to the top 4 with a strong end to last season. Then there was a summer break and he spent a lot of time recently injured ffs

‘Led United to the top 4’. Do me a favour. He had an awful end to the season, putting in subpar performances all while continually getting himself sent off.

It was Rashfords goals that led us to the top 4.

But it’s his first game after an injury that had him out for 3 months, he is not fully fit.

Cash in whilst we can or else we’ll end up with another player on ridiculous money that we can’t shift

Played pretty much exactly as he did before his injury. Just picking up where he left.
But wait, now i remember, he is not done at this level, he is a slow starter. Or just out of form? Give him another 10-15 games and we will surely see him improving.

He was playing against league 2 opposition and poor league 2 opposition at that. De Bruyne’s been out for months and his first game back in the PL and he looked like he’d never been away. Does he need months to get back into his groove? No. Because he’s a top player and that’s the level you expect from top players. The excuses made on here for Casemiro are incredible. He played today exactly how he’s played for most of his time here. He had a good spell in the middle part of last season but before and after that he’s been a liability. He only gets so much leeway on here because he’s a big name. He’s physically shot. It’s as clear as day. And he doesn’t have the technical ability to make up for it.

Casemiro and Mainoo
Trust the process
On paper, yes. In practice, it needs a manager who can motivate the team and can implement a good system. On paper, should be a very good pairing if the next manager implements a normal double pivot there.

The system is still bollocks to be honest, it still looks like we're playing a 1 man midfield most of the time. We need to give the Case and Mainoo midfield some time though, it's our best midfield, till summer at least.

He looked like he'll struggle in league 2.
Do you remember last season? His first 2 games were absolutely woeful. But at some point, he found his form and was one of the best players in the team, alongside Lisandro and Rashford

What does he think he is here for? Because it looks like he just does what he wants on the field without a care.

That is what happens when you keep a clueless manager at the helm with the season going nowhere. Players stop caring. At his age & with his achievements, Case is happy to be another pensioner happy to pick up a pay check by doing the minimum.

Thought it was a typical Casemiro performance tbh. He got about the pitch, got a few tackles, made a few fouls, a few decent passes. Pretty much a standard Casemiro performance. He is what he is, he's not technical enough to run a midfield on his own, spray passes about, take the ball in tight spaces etc but he's a good defensive midfielder. I don't think he's suited for the role EtH wants, I think you need a more technical player there but he does the job.

Rashford’s form nose-dived at the end of last season too.

Wolves 3:4 Man Utd
He is addicted to slide tackles, you would think an experienced guy like him would have a bit more patience, stop putting himself under so much pressure early in games, but with having lost a step these wild lunges are just asking for trouble.

After the early yellow card I was worried about Casemiro but, up until the penalty (how's that given after what Liverpool got away with yesterday?) he was pretty commanding. We felt his absence when he went off. Was doing so much cleaning up in midfield and making a massive difference on defensive set pieces. Shaking off the cobwebs game by game perhaps?

It's because he's lost a step. Things he might have gotten to back at Madrid he's slightly behind now and thus has to slide even when it isn't warranted similar to a CB that go in for more challenges to make up for a lack of pace.

We probably have to keep playing him because it's better than sticking McTominay out there but he's always going to be a transitional liability I think. Main thing is to get him to stop acting like fecking Pirlo thinking he can play some of these passes that he doesn't need to.

Always been a slow starter after a pause, Rooney-esque in that sense.
Was being asked to do an impossible job at the start of the season.

Nah I think he is what he is. His anticipation defensively is still world class, but he's now a step slower so he's going to be caught out more than he used to be. Still our best option but not quite the stalwart locked in DM that we had last year.

Was actually a very good performance from him after that scissor tackle early. That penalty decision is crazy, all those replays did was prove that in fact there was no touch at all yet the ref still gave it. Crazy stuff. But glad to have him back, and Mainoo really helps him out a lot.

That was also Shaws fault carelessly giving it away high up the pitch and having to cover for him.

The consistency is absolutely infuriating, especially as it was fecking tierney on VAR - who waved BOTH pen calls last night against VVD.

Anyway, he will obviously take a bit of time to get back up to speed, but he still reads the game really well and covers space.

Some good stuff, some bad stuff. Much better on the ball and positioning wise than anyone else. When he is exposed though the lunges are awful and his lack of pace is evident.

Needs to get back match sharp pretty quick.

Played well, needs to play a few more games to get up to speed though
