He's been terrible this season.

Mainoo looks like the experienced composed multiple time champions league winner and Casemiro looks like a reckless inexperienced 18 year old.

Replacing him is the most obvious upgrade to the starting XI to make in the summer.

We really should go after Onano (Everton) to play alongside Kobee. Keep Casemiro as back up and as mentor for Kobee
Who will be mentoring who now seeing Mainoo look more experience and less rash than Casemiro

And Bruno the captain. Case needs to go to Ronaldo in the summer awful player these days.
In a whole, bad signing. Hopefully we dont make such signings ever again, poor value for money in general

His first touch is shocking, which is weird because he is better technically than his first touch would make you believe.

So, what is going to teach Kobbie? Kobbie is just streets ahead of Casemiro right now.

You can see it’s just Father Time. He’s that little bit slower into challenges and mistimes quite a lot now, his reaction speed and touch are a bit off. An absolute must sell in my mind in the summer.

It’s kind of like when Matic was here, he was always our best DM but that didn’t mean he didn’t need upgrading. Case was pivotal last year, hes still our best player for the holding role but this should be his last season.

When he’s bad he’s awful. Originally thought we’d get £50m from Saudi but he’s not even worth half that.

If he doesn’t stink it up too much they will still want him for the name recognition.

Got unlucky with his yellow today that had him walking a tightrope for most of the game.

The Luton player elbowed him and then fell over. Think someone told the ref through his earpiece that he had been conned and that is why he didn't give Cas a yellow for that challenge the Luton players were moaning about.

I think that was a bullshit yellow against Luton. Refs are buying what our opponents are selling, but I think if they looked at those fouls on VAR they'd not be yellows. That said, we should be bringing in a replacement this summer and having a big bon voyage party for him.
It was only a slight brush, but he squared up to a guy going past him breaking against the cb's, straightforward yellow. Especially given that 2 mins earlier he wad wrestled a guy to the ground and lunged through him from back at the same time.

He should have been off today, how he avoided a second yellow for that lunge I don't know.

Should have got a 2nd yellow card but for me what he got a yellow card for wasn't a yellow card offence. Mainoo and his remain United's best midfield pairing for the rest of the season as for next season an upgrade will likely be needed.

Hopefully the saudis do us a favour, because manioo can play that position.
He seems to have morphed into the Fabiano of Liverpool of last season although he would always foul about 5-6 times before getting a yellow.

Saudis will be all over a multiple CL winner with Real Madrid and current Brazil captain so you don't have to worry on lack of interest if he's made available.

Mixed views on Casemiro's disciplinary issues.

It does annoy me how teams seem to pretty much be allowed a 'designated fouler' - defensive midfielders who game after game commit foul after foul but rarely get an early booking as the ref knows they'll not change their game and he'll put himself under pressure of showing a red.

So, if it was any other teams DM, I'd be pleased to see one finally reffed as I'd like them to be. But so annoying that it's solely our DM being reffed differently, while others continue to be rarely booked early.

As regards today's booking, I really thought it was harsh given what defensive midfielders can normally get away with in the first half. Though having already been (unluckily) booked, he was lucky not to receive a second for a much more bookable offence. All in all, didn't deserve a sending off given he was just performing like most teams 'designated fouler', but I'm sure much will be made of it in the press.

Say what you will about his loose touches and possession at times but there is no doubt he is getting undeserved yellows. Both decisions to book him in our last match and this match were nonsensical and pathetic refereeing.

Doesn’t absolve his poor play at times though, just seems as if he is a victim of narrative.

We keep winning now he’s back. He hasn’t played well though. There was the time he was trying one with the keeper way off his line and the ball barely made it into the box. He looks a few steps off it this season. I would sell this summer and build the best young team in the country.

He's becoming a poor player, has lost a step, even for him.
But unfortunately he's still the best midfielder we have to partner Mainoo.
Really need to bring in a couple of midfielders in the summer.

I said this last season. The refs have it out for him. Probably an unconscious bias of thinking he's a dirty player so they're less likely to let him off the hook for his first or second 'foul'.

Playing with no determination or desire, grit, composure... anything. He's here on holiday.
I don't think that's fair, but I do think it's fair to say that the imginary trophy for winning 4 th place just doesn't cut it for a guy like Casemiro after his Madrid days. More so as he he likely knows he won't be here next season to reap the benefits from getting it.

I just hope he doesn't get injured before the summer transfer window as we could get most of our money back if that right club comes in.

Yup made even more annoying by what fellow Brazilians Fabinho and Fernandinho got away with for years. I think pundits don’t help either. They’re always seeming to want him to get sent off. Like Neville today was like “oooh he’s lucky”. He wasn’t. His booking was never a booking and the foul on Barkley was a 50/50 that he lost, doesn’t have to be a booking.
I saw Endo make about 400 worse challenges against Brentford on the weekend and there was nothing.

He's here till 2026. Ridiculous length of contract plus salary. Remember we had a one year limit for over 30 year olds years back.

Really was utter bobbins today. I get the feeling that he views his stint with us like most top players view moving to MLS. It’s all a bit of a laugh and who cares what the final score is so long as the direct deposits keep coming.
I agree with this. Compared with what he's done in his career he's now playing like a 45 year old in a pub team, and the odd pass shows who he used to be; but he's just here for the beer and a run around.

Rules don't matter as much after back to back loses at the start of last season. Was probably cheaper to back him than sack him after a big summer.

I don't think he should have been sent off - the first one was 100% a booking, the second one though was just a normal foul... not every foul is a booking.

Should be transfer listed the first day of the window. He never learns his lesson.

I don’t agree with the crowd. The first yellow was given after persistent fouling. He couldn’t keep up with their press and physical play, on the small pitch, so repeatedly fouled .

I would be screaming at the TV if an opposition DM didn't get booked after all that. Deserved to be sent off on the balance of things but obviously pleased he didn’t.

He didn't touch him. Why would you book a player for a contact that wasn't even dangerous and didn't happen ? The Luton player anticipated an obstruction but Casemiro stopped himself.
The ref imagined a contact purely based on bias

Looked like there was contact to me? He stepped across him and didn't pull out quick enough. Textbook yellow card.

EDIT - Just rewatched it on MOTD 2 - Absolutely looks like there's foot on foot contact.

Then she sucks on my balls
... You've lost me on that one?
 it's ok you've lost me too,I agree on the circumstances of the challenges he shouldn't have been sent off but every football fan in the country would say that about their players, ultimately our opinions hold no weight in a football match where he was one more minor a challenge away from a certain sending off so was wise to sub him.

I imagine you're screaming at the TV a lot then, as most teams have a DM (and often CB) who can spend most games committing plenty of fouls (not always given, such as holding at every set piece) without getting first half bookings - let alone face calls to be sent off so early for all their cumulative fouls.

Casemiro is being reffed differently. And while, out of context, you can certainly make a case that so many bitty fouls should add up to two yellows - when the other teams 'designated foulers' (DM and 'old fashioned' CB) are allowed to do likewise each game and largely go unpunished, then in that context the way Casemiro is being reffed, and analysed by the media, is really frustrating.

None of that defends his poor performances this season. But he was good last year and was still being reffed differently and developing an unfair reputation that he hadn't had all those years for Madrid and Brazil.

I think he shows every sign of being on the slide. Not good after spending so much only a year ago. Slow into challenges, slow to respond to pressure, everything he does is a second or two too late.

A game like yesterday showed him up massively because Luton don't have quality but they have a lot of pace, directness, willingness - they just ran at us and made life difficult and that was enough to completely destroy Casimero.

We're going to need someone else in the summer.

Crazy stat.
I think Casemiro has been a reason why we've improved recently but he commits to challenges way to often he has no chance of getting to. The amount of time he goes to ground and doesn't win the ball or take the player out is hurting us in these transitions. Feels he just over commits and as he's the deepest midfielder we're cut wide open.

It's probably because he doesn't have the physicality to keep up but going to ground and not make a foul or winning the ball needs to be cut out.
