He has to go. His coaching isn't up to it, and "what are the alternatives?" cannot be a viable excuse.

The thing is, this kind of performance has been coming. Since the League Cup final. We’ve been getting battered and battered and battered. But this, this tonight was a new low. Awful coaching, zero ball retention. Mathias Jensen stomping all over our midfield. Come on now.

Over a year of shite performances. He would’ve been hounded out at Real Madrid, Bayern, Barca, even fecking PSG. There’s no way INEOS don’t get rid. SJR has invested over a billion into this project. He won’t waste it. Bye ETH.

I would think it's 60-40 that he goes and he should in my opinion but I'm not sure why there's such faith that Ratcliffe, whose record in sport is not good, and Brailsford, who is one of the biggest spoofers to walk the face of the earth, are going to necessarily make that decision.

There were about 3 incidents in and around Brentfords box in the first half where a United player has the ball and lays it off (out of cluelessness) to the space he assumes his teammate is occupying but there was nobody there. That was kind of a giveaway for me that these players are poorly coached

I feel they want there own man in anyway to kickstart there own Era. They won’t want anyone from the previous structure…. Any success that may happen over the years they’ll want glory for. They have to get it right though… none of this Southgate rubbish….

He seemed to have gambled on the Casemiro-Mount-Bruno triple from day 1.

It didn't look like it'd work from day 1, but 2 of the 3 have barely been available all year to boot.
I think we needed a larger sample size to see whether it would work, unfortunately we didn't get it.

The ultimate problem with Ten Hag's system (and any system really) is it relies on the players being able to play it. When you look at City some people will say they play it safe, but playing the ball into your midfielders whilst they are surrounded by opposition players or having your CB go marauding are all riskier plays than what normal teams do but they have the players who can do it. So with that high risk they get the high reward.

Ten Hag's system is also high risk, but as we don't have the players capable of playing it the risk isn't paying off. Its all well and good trying to overload the opposition's backline with two 8s and fullbacks overlapping, but when you give it to a Rashford or Bruno who are just as likely to give the ball away as they are to find a man then the risk starts to outweight the reward. I think that to save his job he may need to revert to last season's tactics or a 4 2 3 1 just to see out the season and hopefully get better players in. However, i think time might be running out for him which is a shame.

I noticed this too.
we talk so much about the midfield and defense and there being no service.

You clearly don't know what you're talking about. He took over Ajax in Dec 2017. These were the players they sold:

Klaasen
Sanchez
Riedewald
Tete
Kluivert

Comparatively to you mentioning where they are now. These are some of the players that have left them in the last two years:

Antony
Licha
Haller
Gravenberch
Tagliafico
Onana
Mazraoui
Blind
Timber
Kudus
Tadic
Alvarez
Bassey
Klaasen

and you're surprised they're not competing for the league currently? Moreover, where's the evidence of the "great coach" at United?
he won’t find any, because there isn’t. He’s a bit of a charlatan of a coach who popped up at Ajax with the perfect blend of profiles (having players like de Jong, Ziyech, and Tadic in one team in the Dutch league is insane) and surrounded by persons who know what they’re doing (specifically the pest Overmars). Once he was out of that comfort system it all came crashing down

I refuse to believe this
Check a few pages earlier, no debate brought out this time.
It’s sad actually. Considering at the beginning so many had high hope, we are now back to the same situation. Only a few games left, no one now believes the team can gel the system at all. Really sad.

He's got to go. We are back in the cycle of thinking a manager has done enough to get sacked before pulling out a result that papers over the cracks (Liverpool) before regressing back to shite. Rinse and repeat multiple times before finally getting sacked

Absolutely disgraceful performance on every level tonight, strong contender for worst this season

Pathetic work rate, funny how they manage to run against Liverpool tonight we are back to languid, slow, strolling. No urgency shown, even after Brentford scored, there was a slight increase in tempo but still unacceptable

Klopp irritates the hell out of me but can you imagine this lack of effort under his watch? Under SAF?

I am sick and tired of us scoring then instantly conceding I'd love to know how many times it's happened this season. It's disgraceful and completely and utterly unacceptable. Why is the cause not being reviewed, it keeps happening time and time again, and is costing us dearly

His players he refuses to sub/sub so late the replacements don't have much time could be the hill he dies on.

The football is fecking boring and insipid, I find the comments on the caf more interesting

The only thing worrying me about sacking him is the fact they are considering Southgate. Do not want, another safe yes man.

Question - would you take going out the FA cup if it guaranteed his sacking and winning it meant he's given more time? I honestly don't know I want us to win trophies, but I'm sick of our direction less boring horrible "football"

We won't be beating Coventry playing like this, I don't even trust the players to show up against them as they're a small team and they clearly can't be bothered against smaller teams. We will then probably lose to City in the final as we are at risk of them winning another treble, or Liverpool winning the league

Don't forget Liverpool are looking for a new manager so is there anyone on our shortlist we want to get that they want also (although unfortunately I can't see anyone picking us over them given how far we've fallen)

The sooner this hateful season is over the better. Feels like I've been saying this forever.

You'd have said the same just before Jose or OGS were about to be sacked too.
Yeah, I suspect I would have, but I also didn’t have that much confidence in the club having a structure that might be able to improve it.

With the structure of the club how it was, it was always going to be a tough job, and he’s had bad luck this year.

I said it months ago, and then thought I’d been a bit unfair, but now I’m of the view that he’s just another manager miles out of his depth.

It’s so disappointing because last year was promising, in parts at least, and enough to see some progress.

We won't magically start playing great football in last 9 games of the campaign and unless we're lucky won't win the Fa Cup either. So only thing that can save ten Hag's job is there being no quality replacement. Or new board being as incompetent as previous one. Given it's United I want be surprised if that turns out to be the case.

He needs to go but anyone thinking that alone will fix this club are only fooling themselfs. At least half the squad needs to go with him and that includes all of our so called star players.
Nobody is saying that! The players being shit doesn't mean the manager can't be as well. Both are major problems but he should've been kicked out months ago then we fix the player problem.
Having this pillock hanging around like a bad smell isn't helping anyone!

You are better not to saying anymore. We have a few games left. Doing so will depress you, really!

Told you months ago we should kick him out and play the kids if you care to remember.
To be still playing like this after all this time surely knowing his ass is on the line is absolutely incredulous.

Social media’s most renowned Ajax fan sums it up fairly accurately.

Spot on.

Putting all the poor performances aside - what is he even trying to do? He surely cannot be setting up to play on the break at a bottom 6 side?

No progress, no identity, awful transfers, bizarre decisions in game, deluded post match interviews.

We’re watching a highly rated manager dismantling his reputation in real time.

Didn’t even lose, almost won it but genuinely I don’t think we could have been much worse.

Any manager in the premier league and I mean any, should not get away with letting their team get peppered against any opposition that consistently, we have ridden it out somehow but sooner or later someone’s going to put 6-7 past us again. Even the most basic “lump it long” manager could do better than this, 31 shots against and our average is now what 2nd or 3rd worst in the league?

It’s baffling we are somehow even 6th, watching us we are nowhere near it.

I am looking forward to see excuses after this one. Every week is the same, injuries, players are bad, whatever. If team is conceding 20+ shots in every game, and 30+ against Brentford who never had more than 20 in the season...I really can not think about excuse that would be good enough, but I am looking forward to it.

They had 90 attacks, every third was shot on goal. Every third time. It is ridiculous. And it has nothing to do with the players, as whoever is playing we will certainly concede 20+ shots, against any rival. Newport almost reached 20.

Didn't watch the game tonight as I was expecting the inevitable return to mediocrity.
But Christ, looking at the stats, tonight must've been a new low. I feel for everyone who lasted it out.

The man's own mother will publicly denounce him and some delusional people on here will find ways to excuse this guy.

We are genuinely worse than the last season under OGS and I thought that was nigh-on impossible.

Nothing has changed from the first of the season against Wolves. That night, we were lucky to win the game, having conceded so many chances, and here we are, 29 games in and we'e seeing the same nonsense.
