I don't know mate I don't work for the club.

We're a month away from the end of the season they will have a pretty good idea what's about to happen. They probably want the directors in first to make it look like they haven't picked the manager.
I suspected.

Yeah they've made such a big deal about putting a proper football structure in place. That's yes they'll want all football decisions to be made by or at least be seen to be made by the people in those positions.

I wonder if ETH has been told he’ll be here next season. He’s already planning for the summer tour and saying he’ll take the strongest squad possible. Surely if he knew he’d be gone he wouldn’t be mentioning the summer plans..
Whether he's been told or not (I doubt it) or he suspects he won't be he'll at least publicly just carry on as if he will be here next season.

 .We rate and love John Murtough, we really do. Also, please move to Head of cleaning if you want to stay on at the club, John.

He's getting sacked imho. If INEOS are half as smart as some on hear think they are (I'm not convinced), they know not to gas up any new recruit and lay the red carpet for him.

Also reminds of the Greenwood comments where I again I think it's just a matter of not creating a weak bargaining position.

It can be if you don’t have a look at the why of it. I’m not in any way, shape, or form comparing because that would be madness but pretty sure Liverpool’s objectives last year were not to end up in Europa and crash out of cups the way they did.

It would have been ‘knee jerk’ to let go of Klopp, no? Of course, because he’s earned the benefit of the doubt and there were mitigating circumstances.
Just not even a remotely similar situation. Are we serious here?

Sacking a manager for having our worst PL season would not be a "knee jerk reaction".
If it was in the context of a usual season of injuries and a lack of turmoil and distractions off the pitch, I’d agree with you. INEOS however will take a long term approach and not the desperate knee jerk move you and others are looking for. They will wait for Berrada, Wilcox and then Ashworth before making a move. The fact the squad has not given up on ten Hag and his methods is also a big clue what will happen. ten Hag will be given another year.

The players being professional is no evidence that ETH will not be sacked. We've failed to improve, results are getting worse, and if INEOS want champions league football as SJR says he does due to FFP, then why hasn't ETH been sacked to improve results? It's nonsense. It is not kneejerk to sack a manager who since the EFL win and game week one of this season has overseen a marked decline in performance and results. Not to mention wasting 400 million in four windows.

While I generally agree with this sentiment, I'd add that a) in this instance, it could be seen as knee-jerk in the context of INEOS still being in the process of overhauling the structure above the manager, so sacking him before that structure is in place is a bit like putting the cart before the horse and b) "worst PL season" seems to be slightly subjective, as some people are going to judge by points totals (at this rate, we're looking at 60 points, but could well fall below that and our lowest haul is 58) and others will go by final league position (as it stands, we're 6th, and we finished 7th in 2013/14).

Managers have been sacked in the past because they’ve lost the squad. This is clearly not the case and many of the senior players would also likely point to injuries impacting results, but you and every other supporter want the same scatter gun bullshit approach. INEOS thankfully are smarter than that.

The fact the squad have not given up on ten Hag and that we are not hearing the typical leaks to the press about a toxic dressing room is a tell tale sign that the club will give ten Hag another season. Injuries and a distractions off the pitch are going to be deemed acceptable reasons for why we took a major step back this season. So for everyone hoping for a knee jerk reaction from INEOS are going to be left disappointed.
Or we've shipped out the gobshites?

The point is he should not be expected to buy and sell players.
That is not a mangers job.

I am not pro Erik.
But to think all the problems we have can be solved by just bringing in a new manger is not thinking things through..
People keep saying this and it doesn't excuse ETH at all. At UNITED, it is the managers job to do so. It has been for decades. Just because most clubs nowadays do not operate like this, does not mean it shouldn't be his job. It is at our club. So he should be judged on his performance not only in regard to tactics, man management, but also how he buys players. He did say this power over transfers was the reason he accepted the job. In that sense, he's failed.

He was part of the process, he specifically wanted to be.

Good thing nobody thinks that then I guess?
Replied above about him wanting to be part of the process.

Obviously then you have not been reading the threads with so many managers being suggested that they would be better.

SJR has not made his fortune by making kneejerk decisions.

But he has had time to see what Murtough has done to let him go.

The squad could spend every Friday night publishing love poems to him on twitter, he’ll still get sacked because the results and performances have been so bad.

You are wrong.

Fergie did what he did within the football operations of the club.

Are you stating the Glazers ran United as a football club?

How am I wrong? The managers at United have always bought the players, we've introduced a hybrid system under Murtough that has now been dismantled. But it was still ETH in overall command, the vast majority of the players signed being his first choice targets.

Are you suggesting Fergie as manager didn't buy players? What are you on about? How was he any different to Moyes, LVG, Mourinho or ETH?

The glazers are immaterial to my point as the club operated like this long before they bought us.

I honestly think INEOS won't sack him and he'll resign because he won't want to give up his transfer powers. Then we'll be in a situation where all the best options will have already moved to big clubs and have to settle for the worst.

All the problems we are having on the pitch are entirely Erik's fault as his tactics dont work and he refuses to change them so bringing in a new manager will at least solve a lot of those issues.

Erik was told years ago by Ruud Gullit that the tactics he was using at Ajax were leaving his midfield too open and exposed and all these years later he is still playing his team with the midfield in the exact same situation.

It was part of a debate in which Erik gave his viewpoint.

SJR said we have had good mangers before. But the conditions were not there to succeed.

So the Glazers are material to the discussion.

What you are suggesting is we do not need a football board which is not true.

Why on earth do we need to wait on Berrada, Wilcox and Ashworth? is the club paralyzed until they officially start. Heaven forbid we communicate with them prior to the official start. Of course would be hard to approach them in the first place, agree terms and then sign a contract without actually speaking to them. Plans will be made for next season. Funnily enough we don’t even need to wait for the season to end to plan ahead. Moving on after 2 seasons where the manager has blatantly failed to offer up any reason why Ineos wouldn’t file him under anything but a last desperate gamble on a deeply flawed regime. The clickbait merchant having a field day over this. ineos will bring in their own man like they are doing with all the senior positions in the club.

You’re exactly the type of supporter who complains about the glazers and the lack of footballing structure leading to failure and now wanting the club to appoint a new manager without Berrada, Wilcox or Ashworth having a say….Make that make sense…

Well I can’t make any sense with you. Reading and understanding is obviously a bit much for you. My point above obviously went straight over your precious head. Berrada was the first and top of the tree. Do you think the 2 below him were appointed without his approval? I can goon and on but hey why interrupt a fool when he’s making an idiot of himself. Your exactly the type of supporter who maybe shouldn’t try to make things personal.

It’s not really a long term decision to give someone another year because you aren’t ready to make a decision, it’s pretty short term and knee jerk in fact. The most likely outcome if he does get another year is he gets sacked anyway.

Also think getting a bit carried away with squad not giving up, they looked lost against Brentford and needed mistakes to come to life against Liverpool and Chelsea.

Moyes at City, using similar Club structure, wouldn't turn him into a world class manager. He'd still be him and his level of manager.

Let’s stick with ETH, he’s had terrible luck with injuries and feel he has a lot to offer….
