He's not wrong, but the next question should be: Why do we look more far away from challenging now than we did at the end of his first season? Remember, he can't do a LvG and claim that it's a process, since he's already admitted that he's not here to implement any particular philosophy of his own.
Our new part owner has answered this already. The clubs been in a state of flux for pretty much ETHs time at United.
Does this mean ETH gets a free pass entirely ? No, he might be sacked in a few weeks. But it’s clear that United are simply not in the same boat as other clubs the last 18 months.
Not only have we had a mess of a structure but we’ve had no clarification on what direction the club is gonna take or who will be making big decisions.
Spending 400 million means nothing. Chelsea have spent 3 times that and are getting worse.
You guys need to wise up. The priority is to fix the club top down. Managerial sackings will become normal when there are actual competent people and structures in important roles.
Sacking a manager isn’t setting a standard when there’s no existing standards throughout the club.
If ETH is sacked , it has to be because it makes sense in the longer term strategy of the club, not because “we didn’t get top 4, 400 million spent , this is Manchester United”.
