i would rather him than lukaku who, despite scoring a lot, isnt really someone I like. Belotti seems good but I get the targetman vibe from him too

Conte rates him massively too. I expected them to try and move on Costa this summer and sign Morata.

Who's going to buy Costa though? The Chinese club had cooled their interest.
He was going back to Atletico with the Griezmann money. They were going to buy Costa + Lacazette, but obviously that's all gone wrong now.

I kind of rate this guy. Very cool finishing on him, strong and pretty fast as well. Would be a good signing.

I think he's a very good player Morata, he was highly rated at Juventus when he was on loan there and was a big success. Despite him not getting as much gametime his season, his scoring rate is very impressive

I just think with all the talk of him saying he wants to stay in Madrid or his wife fancies a move to Italy that his heart wouldn't be here at United, I don't see him having the motivation to play for us and Mourinho talked about wanting players to come here

What's the point? He doesn't want to come to England. Madrid want to shift him to buy a shiny new toy of some variety and he's praying an Italian team come in for him. Complete waste of time.

That's the spirit.

Doesn't really need an answer but I'll it anyway.. join.

Not the type to cut my nose off the spite my face, so I'll happily keep his position open for next summer, sometimes you just have to wait.
No you dont have to wait. If Griezmann doesnt join next summer, do we wait again and keep waiting indefinitely?

This summer we sign the best players that we can get, and next summer, depending on our needs and available players, we again sign the best players we can.

If Griezmann happens to fit into the plot, all well and good, and if not, the game goes on. Waiting for a particular player for a whole season is stupidity at its highest.

They're almost unique circumstances as to why he isn't joining this summer, and it's the measure of the man that he has stood by his current club in times of strife, imo he's the sort of guy we should give the benefit of the doubt to, and be willing to put things on hold in that position until next summer, when the way should be clear for him to join.

Yes this summer we should get the best we can get, but the options are hardly starring you in the face, and the last thing we need are the wrong players.

We should never go back in to sign him, he's blown his chance. He can leave, the only person stopping him joining united is Greizman himself. You don't turn down United and expect them to come back for you. He has hopefully blown his chance to sign for us, we don't want to be buying players that wouldn't give their left leg to join us. He turns us down and people want us to go crawling back in a years time? No thanks

Well I doubt Jose will think like this, and thank goodness for that, this time next year you'll be like a giddy little girl as he's about to sign.

Nope, I want players who want to be here. He had his chance and decided to stay.

If real are going for mbappe. Then they will sell him for sure. Him and Jamez along with fabinho and lindelof and our summer would have been solid.

Fair enough, you'll have to just hate him as he's tearing it up next year.. anyway this is the Morata thread who I want this summer, would be great for us imo.

I have nothing against Griezmann or his decisions. I just think it is a stupid suggestion to say a club should wait on a player when no one knows what the future would bring. Who knows, next summer the spanish giants along with Bayern and/or Juve, or even other PL teams like City and Chelsea could be interested in him. We may find it even more difficult to sign him than we did this year.

Even if he rejected us this summer, I have no issues with signing him next year, if he is the best option for the club at that point. Pogba once left for Juve on a free and cost us 100m to get him back - it happens. Van der saar also chose Juve over us, but still joined us 6yrs later.

The alternatives in the market may not be great (a matter of opinion) but you dont need a star studded assembly to build a great team. Juve were in the CL finals for the second time in 3 yrs, but its not like they are reeking with established super stars all over the pitch. Some of their key players, like Bonucci, Alves, Khedira, and Mandzukic, were what some would call rejects from other clubs.

We need him more than he needs us so yeah we should go back for him. He dint reject us, he showed loyalty to atletico and simeone for a year in the transfer ban and last simeone year. Pretty sure next year will be again on market and top clubs would be back for him. We can't afford to let him join any other epl clubs or Bayern even at 27.

It'd be okay. I think we're in more need of a LB than another CB, unless Mourinho gives Shaw faith in the spot for the whole season. Think we need a genuine winger too.

Rojo can play Lb, so can blind. Jose loves one full back to defend, so i think that would play out nicely. If we get fabinho, then we can also play him at Right back if we need it. Morata will shine i think, Out of the strikers available, i think he is the most value for money. Jamez as rooney replacement. I think we can have more than a decent season with them.

Agree, and agree, but on the first point, I think if he is the sort of guy who is as loyal to his current club then he'll be loyal to joining us next summer, assuming we still want him, on the second point we have proved this season that we have a solid team, but we need the sprinkling of stardust now to take us to the nest level, and Greizmann will give us that, I just can't see anyone we could get this summer in his position who would do the same, so for me I'm happy to wait.

Hopefully this summer we'll address the other areas we need to sort out.

If we're going to persist with being the only side in the top 6 to not play with two attacking fullbacks then we can't expect much progression in fluidity and unpredictability in our attacks.

and who are the two attacking fullbacks he has and has refused to play?

If you give him two good full backs, he will use them, but if they are poor defensively, then you have to compensate elsewhere

BTW Chelsea are actually the guilty party who play two CBs + RB in a back 3, and use a LB as a WB.

Which is exactly why I'm saying he should buy one?

Would it be greedy of me to want both Romelu Lukaku and Alvaro Moratta this summer?

Yeah, a little bit. :)

Unnecessary also. Although Morata can play on the wing, it limits his performance and he deserved the chance to lead the line finally (whether it's United or somewhere else).

Will he prove to be better than Harry Kane?
Probably not. Kane is the best striker in the league. He'd need to score 20+ goals for three seasons running to be considered.

He'd be really good alongside another attacker. Or if Martial gets back to the way he was. Morata being added to what we had last year (plus losing Ibra) doesn't really improve us much in my opinion.

If we got say Morata and Sanchez that would be amazing. Or even James I'd be okay with to be honest. But Real won't agree to that without De Gea going and under no circumstances should be sell him.

He will buy the best LB he can get, but dont expect him to get some one like Marcelo who, for all his attacking prowse, cant a pylon cone even if his life depended on it.

An LB like Sandro is fair game but doubt Juve will sell and two-way LB options are limited in the market.

The ideal solution would have been Shaw staying fit and convincing which would have provided more room to gamble on a transfer

Seems like you are the type to keep a hole in his roof for when his chimney can be built. If there is still a Griezmann sized hole in this team, at this time next year, it is fair to say that we wouldn't be pleased.

Hopefully players that fit us better have been recruited and those who underperformed get better. We are feckin united. Players should show the desire to play for us. Griezmann does act like a self-absorbed priçk and thankfully I've never been a fan (what has he achieved in his career?). Morata makes better sense!

Would it be greedy of me to want both Romelu Lukaku and Alvaro Moratta this summer?

Yeah. If we sign either of those guys to be our 9, there are 5-6 positions that make more sense than another 9 (CM, LCB, LB, DM, W) all come to mind. Rashford as the 2nd 9 is perfect, and if we need to play more 4-4-2 (not really a common Mourinho tactic, since maybe the 2004 Porto Diamond?) or 4-2-3-1 someone from Martial, Mkhitaryan or Mata can play in a front 2.

Is the suggestion that we will sign a number 9 and another attacking player (a number 10 or winger) or just a number 9 like Morata? If it's him and someone else that would be pretty good but him as our only attacking signing would leave us short still. It seems like our plan was to keep Zlatan and buy Griezmann, if we end up just replacing Zlatan with someone not as good (albeit Morata is very decent) then that wouldn't really solve the issue of a lack of fluency and clinical finishing in our attack.

I want this guy playing for us. We're being extremely silent with our targets and I see people on here complaining. I can't for the life of me see why? When was the last time we kept our business under wraps? It was when Sir Alex was in charge. I like it. At the same time it would be nice to get our targets in early and again seeing Mourinhos record in doing so fills me with confidence. He always gets his targets in asap. Look at who he has brought in so far and look at what we have won. With Morata we get a goal scorer and his football isn't too bad either. I don't like Lukaku as much and I've seen stats to back that up. Without Lukakus goals Everton would still be where they are. Let Chelsea have him for £100 million.

I don't see the prick or lack of accomplishments thing with Griezmann, but I could easily see us having a Griezmann sized hole next summer, even if we have a good summer window and improve next year and finish top 4 and make the CL knockouts (which would probably be considered progress). If we sign Morata, Fabinho, Lindelof and a starting quality LB that would be a good summer, and in 2018, we could just replace Mata or Lingard with Griezmann as our RW/10/2nd striker and maybe add another CM for depth and buy Valencia's future replacement to compete with him.

Zlatan got injured in April. We got linked with Morata for the first time few days later so it seems to me that our plan, because of Zlatan injury, was a new number 9 and Griezmann behind him.

Regardless of Griezmann, I still think the plan is the same and that we are in the market for number 9 and number 10. Alternative is number 9, proper winger and go to 4-3-3.

Jose literally and I quote called Rojo rubbish at left back. He said I didn't think Rojo could play CB as his was rubbish at left back.
