There is nothing wrong with competition, let AWB and Dalot fight it out for starting position.
You would think that some of you guys don't want 2 good players for 1 position. That's the level of competition we need to create in the squad. You've all witnessed complacency over the last few years. I don't get the negative comments on adding a good young player to the team.
Wake up guys, see the bigger picture.

Could it be that the reason why he's so good defensively is the position which he prefers to play in currently ?
Same could have been said for the likes of Mascherano and Kompany before becoming central defenders

Completly agree - Heinz was our player of the year and we bought Evra (may have coincided with Heinz’s injury), but still, buy the best players we can. Dalot may turn out to be a good player, but he’s not shown anything to suggest he should be our nailed on RB next season. If AWB comes in and Dalot turns out to make the RB spot his own, that’s great, that’s competition. We need the same at LB to keep Shaw on his toes, although that will have to wait as we clearly have more pressing issues this year.

I wholeheartedly agree. I think the lack of competition for different places is the key to our complacency. Competition for the same position is the key for any team to succeed. A lot of our players have been on a free ride for far too long.

That's a high comparison, but if he's multi functional to that extent then it's another reason why United shouldn't wait too long and close the deal.

It's just another example of accepting mediocrity. Not wanting better platers in the hope 50/50 that some youngster comes good in two years time. What if he doesn't? Big clubs don't think that way. If nobody is good enough to dislodge AWB we've got a fantastic RB potentially for a decade. If they are, we've got an even BETTER RB for potentially a decade.

Exactly this is what every big club has being doing for years now, let two good players battle it and improve each other and then sell the 2nd choice for profit if he doesn't want to be a squad option. Liverpool managed to shift Clyne, Solanke and Ibe for decent profit this way (weirdly all all to bournemouth though ). City are doing it at the moment with Sane, they have improved the first team slightly by replacing Sterling and Sane with Sterling and Silva and can now sell him for 100 million if they so wish.

Exactly - we have Dalot as an attacker and AWB as a defender.

Let them compete by growing their weaknesses & we are sorted.
Imagine not having signed Evra because we had Heinze..we really should never be questioning bringing in a new quality player just because we have another.

Barcelona have Roberto and Semedo,
Real M. have Carvajal and Odriozola,
Bayern have Kimich and Pavard,
City have Walker and Danilo....etc etc.

And UTD fans crying for bringing competition for a Dalot which is a big question if he will reach his potentional to become world class. In this moment he is so faaar.

Exactly!!! we lack depth and have done for years. Be good to have two young fullbacks. If they have the right mentality they will push each other to be even better.

Didn't people slate Jose and the board for bringing in Sanchez and blocking Martial's development? Didn't people moan because we brought Zlatan and blocked Rashford's development?

And the club bought Evra when they already had Heinze. And Real bought Coentrao when they had Marcelo and Danilo when they had Carvajal.
