Assist for the goal and if Maguire didn't have a head like a 50p he would have had another assist near the end.

I thought he was much better defensively today then in other games (though maybe thats down to the opponent?) ... nice delivery as well.

Could do without those long punts though... It sometimes feels like he thinks all balls have to be hit as hard as possible.

Pretty clearly worse than Shaw in almost all departments but a fine backup that came cheaply. Thought his passing and off-ball movement was better than usual

Really? I thought he got burned pretty much every time someone came down the left side in the second half, failed to track his runner on multiple occasions. Like you, I dislike those longballs he plays, they're never even close to accurate and just kill our possession.

Yep this is my gripe. No anticipation and was left stretching to close the cross down.

I think he's a very capable back up and his set piece delivery is very useful, he's not as good as Shaw but on current form I don't think many are. I think Telles is a smart signing because he can still provide something when Shaw isn't playing, last season we really felt Shaw's absence particularly towards the end of the season but now we have Telles in it's not as much of dramatic decline in quality so we can give Shaw valuable rest.

Yes, at the very least he always provides a threat up the left that opposition have to think about, as well as some ok ball progression with the centremid/LW. Williams trying to play out of pressure when Shaw was injured at the backend of last season was tragic.

Good assist, could have one or two more assists (all from corners). Was relatively poor defensively

6 key passes tonight including the assist for McTominay's goal; most from corners and wide free-kicks. One of the few games in which he has looked a threat.

Feels like neither Telles, nor the team, are making the most of his crossing ability. He needs to get his delivery right more often and his team-mates need to make sure they are in position to score when he does so.

Decent backup.

How long did it take Shaw to get 2 assists by the way?

He’s not that good at all.
Started well tonight with his attacking contributions, but they became less as the game went on and he started to get caught out defensively.
Luckily for him, he made a couple of good defensive recoveries after making bad mistakes or getting burned by a Watford player.
Axel in the 1st half and Maguire a few times in the 2nd, had to come well out of position to cover for Telles, when he’d gone missing, leaving us exposed at the back. A better team would have buried us for that.
I’ll reserve judgment until the end of this season, as he’s new to the EPL and had to adjust to a completely different culture, language etc, but my gut instinct at the moment is that he’s a poor buy.

He's a solid squad player. I don't know why people were expecting prime Roberto Carlos!
I think he'll be even better next season.

Slightly over 2000 mins in all competitions. His 2nd assist came against Southampton in August 2016. He had missed most of the previous season after breaking his leg.

Overall, Shaw has 2 goals + 13 assists in 12,185 mins for United according to Transfermarkt.

Telles has reached 2 assists after 900 mins but Shaw's strength is his build-up play, while Telles' appears to be his crosses.

I don't get people insisting Shaw is demonstrably better than Telles. I think they both are good at certain things, Telles seems more to have in his locker overall.

Better then Shaw in my opinion . Telles offers so much in attack , Cavani will score many goals from Telles crosses. Is very hard not to like this guy seems very passionate and a bit crazy .

He is a good LB that provides something else. For the money we spent on him, he is doing fine. He is not a world beater.

Agreed there’s more to come and I think he’s playing within himself but at least he is pushing Shaw to a new level so all good.

Yeah, he is like a Marcos Alonso type of signing, but even cheaper than that. The guy is 28 or something and never really played in a league with such high tempo, as you said I think he is doing fine. His left foot is dangerous and we'll see something special soon enough.

Think he’s a really good signing. Overall I don’t think he’s better than Shaw currently but what I do like is that when he plays, I don’t think we look weaker down that side, it’s just a different type of player. Previously when Shaw has been out, we’ve really suffered. I think Telles will get better next season after a year here but what is clear is he is the best corner taker and crosser at the club and once we get used to that, he’ll have more assists.
I also like that when we are losing we can chuck him on for Shaw and get him to whip them in to the likes of Cavani. It’s just a different threat

He did ok. The best thing he did was bring competition to Shaw.
I still think his best position maybe a wing back type where he can 'defend' less. I think the way we set up in the first game vs PSG saw him in more dangerous areas to cross.

Also want to see Cavani on the pitch when hes crossing.

This.

He is adequate back up, but not as good as I was expecting. He crossing has been below expectations. I was really looking forward to finally having a full back who could cross the ball.

Anyway he is decent back up at a decent price and I guess he is still adjusting to english football to be fair to him so he may actually be better next season.

He's a fine backup. Shaw is better in most areas but Telles will be useful when we just want consistent deliveries into somebody like Cavani.

I have a very hard time seeing that Telles is better than Brandon Williams. I would argue that they are approximately at the same level. Therefore, I would prefer Williams, who is much younger and an academy player. They have a bit of the same strengths and weaknesses: They are good offensively, but they watch too much football defensively. An attacker can run fairly easily in the back of both of them.

Telles was bought for experience in my opinion, and an experience that Shaw needed.

Whilst alot of fans are crying for Max Aaron's (including me on football manager) the truth is we would most likely go for Trippier over him for a bit of experience in an area we lack that in fullbacks overall whilst having the ability to not just teach Wan Bissaka, but gain that stability from an experienced player or leader when we may need it on rotation rather than a Brandon William's or a TFM.

I think he’s a significantly better left back than Williams. He’s left footed for a start.
