The press keep saying "We know he wants to play for city"... well how? Because city keep telling them?

It's hiliarious how this keeps happening, they position themselves that it's " play for our manager and great team OR choose the money option"

Like they aren't offering an absolute boat load of cash. If he really wants City then he will choose their great offer and football.
TBF, I do think if it's a perfectly level offer money wise between United and City, he would choose City. He'd have a guaranteed premier league title this season, and a better shot at the Champions League this season. He signed for Pep Guardiola before, and the noise since the summer was that he was interested in playing for him again.

What we have as potential leverage over City is a guarantee of being the key player in our attack, building it around him so to speak, while at City he'll just be part of the system, a system that is already setting records in the league this season, so he wouldn't change too much there. Also Pep will rotate his attackers given the options. Obviously Sanchez might go there and play every game, but they also have Aguero, Jesus to compete as the striker, Sane on the left wing who has been incredibly important with the pace and width he offers, and then Sterling on the right who is their current top scorer. Plus with him being 29 and Sterling, Sane and Jesus playing so well but being very young, it's likely they'd take over within a year anyway. So that's what I feel we have to push to him, saying he'd have a bigger, more important role at United. He'd be the one finally worthy of taking over the #7 after Ronaldo, and could be seen as the instigator that pushes us to success. But it's obviously less guaranteed success, compared to City where he'd get a for sure title this season and be favourites for next season, and one of the top 3 for the CL title.

So in a way, it's like choosing between guaranteed trophies, or being seen as the catalyst to potentially win the trophies. Money could well be the deciding factor, since there are reasons for both.

You have to laugh at the pure absurdity of City being displayed as some sort of bastion for financial restraint in this deal, makes you wonder if people write this stuff with a straight face.
The high intensity arse licking from the journos on City is ridiculous.

Sounds like it's moving faster than that even. But then again half the news could be made up to get people going. Feel like it could be done tomorrow though, whichever way it goes.

I think City have definitely let it be known they won't pay more than 20m. That suggests to me that the issue is the fee with Arsenal. No one really knows what Sanchez wants despite all the blurb about Pep etc.

City are obviously not in agreement with Arsenal or United have offered more and turned their head.

Nobody is saying that? Do you know another way to report that City allegedly do not want to pay what Arsenal/Sanchez demands than saying they don´t want to pay it? PSG and Bayern already walked away from Sanchez over his wage demands.

I have my both justifications ready

If he joins us : one of the best in the world and we proved a point

If he joins City : overpriced, overrated old player who has only 2 years left.

Let me know when to post what:D

Guillem - Pep, or money.:lol:

What a knob this fella is. City the club that is based on oil money and wouldn't be where they are without it. feck off and take your knob out of Pep's arse.

What BS. The main reason being reported why he's not going to City is because City refuse to pay Arsenal.

If he is desperate to leave Arsenal this month and only one club is in for him then he joins that club
He's not even saying City or us. City is pretty much irrelevant club and then he acts suprised that even Pep can't get him there.

Asked this a few pages back, what's the disadvantage to us just throwing £40m/£50m and getting the deal done now? The whole "could sign for free in 6 months" is irrelevant imo as he'd probably choose City if we wait.

Sure Pep himself is there on no wages doing work for the underprivileged Manchester City supporters union.

All five members wholly appropriate him donating his time.

Sanchez wants to leave Arsenal for trophies and he has better chance with City then United. Possible quadruple as early as May.

Many of you are going to be left disappointed in day or two. There's absolutely no reason for him to chose us over City.

Oh come on, all the talk of money or pep, united desperate enough to try and gazump the deal etc etc, the narrative is pretty clear unless you're being deliberately blinkered.

That if he was younger, but at 29, 70-80 seems to be the fair price.

At 29 he's probably still got a few years as a world-class player left in him. Or, at least, any club signing him will certainly hope he has.

He's easily as good - if not better - than Coutinho, who was fetching £150m. Obviously Coutinho's younger and hence will go for more money but I don't think Sanchez, even at the age of 29, would be going for about half that price. Especially with the manner in which the market is currently inflated.

Bookies making us favourite now is something.

I mean, it's not much, but it is something.

That means nothing. It means loads of people went out putting on bets yesterday and today when the story broke. Considering there are so many more Utd fans than City fans also it's very logical that the odds would shift in Utd's favour. Wouldn't need any ITKs betting to cause that shift.

Ogden says it's on?! Everywhere I read we're "close" to an agreement...this is the latest info right?!

Is it just me that hates journos with a passion?

Have come to dislike many since Mourinho's arrival at United.

Because many can't stomach Manchester United and Jose Mourinho being on the same side and so many have tossed journalistic integrity and objectivity out of the window, in favour of sticking the knife in. Sad really, given that many of said journalists wouldn't say boo to a goose when SAF was in charge.

Don't get me wrong, United have made mistakes, as has Mourinho, but the lack of balance where we're concerned is remarkable.

If we manage this, I look forward to the journos all wearing black armbands and marking it as "the day money destroyed football".

I think he cares about money a lot more than you think.

He's still City bound I think, but it's not as if he'll be getting peanuts from them.

Ladsssss - is this on?!!

Can we just let me make threads for players that we want, clearly I’m good luck!

Sanchez still has at least 3 more years in him, but it's logical a world class player that can give 8 years will cost more than a player who gives 3.

Just got an email from ManUtd.com-> Important Information for Manchester United Fans

About their privacy policy. Goddamn

It's nonsense. It's such a weak narrative anyway - two clubs want a player and one is prepared to pay more because they require him more. Why do they require him more? Well the fact the other club has spent north of £100m more over the last 4 years might have something to do with it.

Agreed, hence why I'm still saying Coutinho would fetch more than Sanchez.

It'd obviously depend on the hypothetical situation at-hand, but I'd argue a reasonably good club selling him to a better one wouldn't really have any incentive to sell for anything below £100m in the current market, so long as he was in contract. One that's poor at negotiating would perhaps cave but a club that are quite shrewd would milk him for all it's worth or just keep him. Especially if a bidding war ensued.

The hypocrisy of journalists going with the narrative of "If Sanchez joins United it's because of money" whilst simultaneously rimming Pep, a man who has spent vast fortunes at City, is incredibly pathetic.

I'm 100% sure we won't be signing Sanchez and he will end up at City, so I am staying zipped up.

Ok well, maybe more like 99% sure.
