Great pick. Was hopin he was still left for me in the second round
Was actually my second choice as had forgotten about him. Can play in a variety of positions so that should benefit me as well although I think he was best as a Centre Back/DM. Can anyone confirm?

My pick is the greatest number 9 of all time.

The legend that is Ronaldo.

2 world cup medals, the top goalscorer in the history of the competition, 98 caps and 64 goals for his country, too many club achievements to list, this man was the greatest in his position, perioud.

Edwards? He was bound to go early I thought.
This. My 3rd choice. He is more than a legend really. Almost a myth as so few have seen him play. Man United legends will be at a premium I think - they are bound to get votes. I have only seen footage of Edwards, but what others have said about him is enough for me.

No love for Joe Allen, the maestro?

He might be 24th down the list, but not in terms of quality.

See if someone picks him now before me!!
Anyone who has him will get my vote all the way. Such is my admiration of him.

Poor pick IMHO so early on, plenty of top Brazilian strikers to go round...

Yeah. Ronaldo's never played in Premier League. So, he's still a bit unproven.

Yes, definitely IMO. Not even close.

No doubting his talent but it was a career of what if's. He didn't actually achieve it and he's competing against players who did, Multiple Ballon D'Or winners, World Cup winning captains - the greatest ever.

Interesting not many have paid attention to the nationality rule... Besides Best there's another very obvious choice...
Former Villa's, now playing for the cream of Europe?

i think people are paying attention - top 5 that went were obvious IMO, other than Beckebauer and Ronaldo. Pele, Maradonna and Messi are considered the 3 best, and Best is a legend.

Personally I just think there are so many Brazilians and Argies who can make the list it makes little sense to pick them in the first round.

Best's nationality makes him the best pick so far...

A Brazilian? Portuguese? Polish? Danish? there are so many around.
Clearly not Brazilian...

He finished 3rd in the Ballon D'or rankings in '57 at just 21 - he was clearly a brilliant player.

"You don't hear many professionals talk lightly of greatness because it is so rare, but that is what I saw in Duncan Edwards the first time I set eyes on him. He reached the same fabulous standard at left-half, centre-half, inside-left and centre-forward. He is the kind of player managers dream about."
"Duncan had everything. He had strength and character that just spilled out of him on the field. I'm absolutely sure that if his career had had a decent span he would have proved himself the greatest player we had ever seen. Yes, I know the great players – Pele, Maradona, Best, Law, Greaves and my great favourite Alfredo di Stefano – but my point was that he was better in every phase of the game. If you asked such players as Stanley Matthews and Tom Finney about Duncan their answers were always the same: they had seen nothing like him."
Given his legendary status he has to be a first-round pick,

Well that kind of says it all doesn't it. You're wheeling out that he came 3rd as if that justifies being selected against players who have actually won it three times.

I know he was a brilliant player, silly comment.

The nationality rule is an interesting one.

Should make for a curious draft.

Here's to hoping the quality of picks doesn't nosedive by the middle rounds.
