Yeah, going for Ronaldo was a risk, as it rules out Brazilians, but he was the best, so why not.
Both my first choice defenders. You cnut!!!!!Elias Figueroa
Considered the best player in The Americas in 1974, 1975, 1976. One of the best defenders in football history and the all-time best Chilean footballer. He was also named FIFA Player of the year in 1976.
Franco Baresi
Don't really need to say anything.
Score against that bitches.
Aye I reckon he's a serious vote-winner. We're looking at prime form and his was very high.Yeah, going for Ronaldo was a risk, as it rules out Brazilians, but he was the best, so why not.
You didn't have a hope in hell of getting him you plonker!Bastard!
My thoughts too!You didn't have a hope in hell of getting him you plonker!
righto! You didn't have a hope in hell of getting him you plonker!
Apparently he suffered with severe diarrhea in '86 as his buggered appearance testifies there. The guy on the left looks about 60, and isn't wearing shin pads
sarcasm detected. It's easy to know nationalities of early rounds players. But it'll getting harder towards the end. And it's useful for others to check the list of ones player nationality.Putting the country in brackets after the player is definately necessary, I would not have known which L Matthaus or Zico you meant otherwise.
Well Yashin could have been awkward considering the old Soviet Union blah blah and Zidane held dual nationality. I know it's obvious but what the hey.Putting the country in brackets after the player is definately necessary, I would not have known which L Matthaus or Zico you meant otherwise.
It all depends on people want to argue it though. Even though there will be over 100 players picked most will be so talented that it would be hard to convince most that they couldn't fit into the modern game.If I was playing this draft, I'd be inclined to choose players from the modern age who are all used to playing a similar system, similar pace, level of pressing etc. In theory, football has evolved so that players / tactics are at their optimum to win football games. A bunch of players from different eras might not work in the same system, whereas a balanced team who are familiar with a system would be more likely to gel. It would be interesting to debate who would win out of Barca 2011 v Brazil 1970 or Total Football Netherlands v Sacchi's Milan for example, as you have XIs who are used to the same system.
There's got to be some logic underpinning how players work together and complement one another. I don't think that necessarily has to be era-specific.If I was playing this draft, I'd be inclined to choose players from the modern age who are all used to playing a similar system, similar pace, level of pressing etc. In theory, football has evolved so that players / tactics are at their optimum to win football games.
