People seriously turning their noses at the idea of Morata? Better than anything we have up front at the moment, bar a motivated Ronaldo.

He is very good, inconsistent finisher but excellent player to have in your team. Hence the teams he has played for his entire career and 60 odd caps for Spain.
Some of the reactions are baffling
He had a decent spell ar Juve but they ended up investing in Vlahovic and didn’t have the money for him. Think AM are ok with €25m but won’t loan him. I think around 20m may be possible. He is not going to score a ton of goals but if he can bring Bruno, Rash and Sancho in play, there could be a rationale. I don’t think this is the worst signing in the world
If anything it kinda shows what type of striker EtH wants. A big lump who's hard to play against.

Mitten was saying it on the talk of the devil podcast yesterday. Ten Hag wants an aggressive forward who will physically put himself about, bully defenders, be a focal point to occupy defenders and hold the ball up. It makes sense IMO. Morata by far the best option for the current day, Sesko obviously potential. Arnautović was misguided.
He's got the right profile. I'd prefer us to go for Gakpo though for his versatility. Some of you have really unrealistic expectations right now.

A much more sensible signing than Arnautovic. That bar isn't very high though, but I don't know who else is available. We currently only have Ronaldo and Martial for the position unless we think one of the young guys are ready, but it doesn't look like that's the case.

Outstanding player on his day. Works hard and is a great team player. Would be a fantastic signing. Knows the league and we have a bunch of Spanish speaking guys already.
No brainer for ~£20-25 million for me. Would be really happy with him.

I'm not sure if the horrific window is broken me and I'll accept anyone but I don't hate this. At this stage of window teams aren't selling quality world class players in prime ages for reasonable fees. We are simply paper thin up front, meanwhile Ronaldo could leave and Martial and Rashford are always due an injury or two.
Realistically his goal record will be mediocre but has enough good qualities to be useful addition for cheap.

He would bring Bruno, Rashford, Sancho into play much more effectively than Martial or Ronaldo. We will this season probably be relying on a collective rather than an Individual goalscorer.

The general takes on this forum are becoming more and more reactionary since Sunday. He improves us quite a bit and suits the style of play very well, have faith in the system that EtH is trying to implement! If we have to take micro steps to improve and gradually improve season upon season then lets do that. We don't need sexy names right now, we need players who improve us and suit the managers demands. We also need bodies given how wierd a season this is. Morata absolutely does this. Him + Rabiot for anything less than 30m is very good business given how many gaps are in the team. If we end up signing 6 or 7 players this window who improve the first team on paper and fit the team in terms of style, it would be a relatively decent summer. The market isn't great.
In an ideal world next summer I'd say go for Toney, I think he's class.
When it comes to profile of player that EtH wants, let's go by positions which he wants to address.
Striker - physical, good link up play, presses all day long.
Midfielders - being able to receive the ball on the half turn and run with it further up the pitch. Good positioning and can play through the lines. Also needs to be able to press all day long. We need a minimum of two, Rabiot is not enough.
Goalkeeper - sweeper keeper who comes of his line to squeeze play and also excellent with the ball at his feet.
Right back - the opposite of AWB
Right winger - pressing, left footed, can beat a man with skill and pace, excellent at progressing the ball. Also another asset that's quite important..... you guessed it! Pressing all day long.
Would be interested in all of your thoughts on this, maybe I'm too optimistic, but I think all these players improve us and probably would make us favourites for the europa league.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Martial, Sancho, Bruno and even Rashford and Elanga's goal output all increase significantly playing with him if the team is coached properly.
We are literally rewinding back to the Mourinho days with our targets this summer: Rabiot, Milinkovic-Savic and now Morata. Its like our fabled recruitment department actually doesn't exist, and beyond suggesting 'targets' like Rice and Bellingham, doesn't do anything.

Martial is injured, Ronaldo is unfit, and many people are still living in the era of SAF.
I'd take him for the right price easily.

I don't really rate Morata though, he struggled massively at Chelsea, and any faith I have of him coming here and making a big impact is minimal at best.
