Oh great another "needs to bulk up" sentiment growing. The caf special.

Man hasn't even made a first-team appearance yet, give him a chance.

He gets shrugged off more easily partly cuz of the way he dribbles, keeping the ball so far from his body and allow people to body him without a foul. With Amad close control, you can't really body him without giving away a foul.

However in situations that Amad needs to compete physically with a defender for a loose ball he still loses out.
Yeah and you'd expect that with younger players who still need to develop, but I don't think thats a mitigating factor for him featuring with the first team - because James/Mata have similar weaknesses.

Was a 30 year old playing for Blackburn. If he’s playing under 23’s he’ll be getting plenty of time against fully blown adults. As far as I can see he’s been very well managed, but we have a lot of impatient fans who wish to rush everything. His time will come once the coaching staff decide he’s ready.
No mate , the couch potatoes posting in here that have watched his YouTube highlights already know he is ready, and will call you an idiot if you cast doubt on it

What if they watched both reserve games? And who called anyone an idiot?

No I think most people are disagreeing with posters who say he’s not ready when 1, Ole has alluded to him being part of the squad soon enough and 2, he’s performed very very well in both games.

Did someone honestly suggest sending him to the championship on loan?

Sorry what?
People are mental mate.

We clearly don’t agree, I guess we let time settle this one, hopefully I am wrong and we have a player who will do well in the premier league but I have my doubts currently.

I doubt we will see anything of him this season outside of maybe a cameo or two but I wouldn’t be surprised if we barely see him this season.

As is par for course for a forum, there are 2 schools of thought here, one which thinks his quality and our lack of options in RW means he will get chances and do well, while the other argues he is not ready, needs time to get used to things here, improve strength etc.. And obviously we don't have a lot of information, compared to the coaches. So we shall see what happens.

Ole and the coaching staff will not want to rush this lad, before he's properly ready.
He'll get a few cameo appearances on the bench, more likely in the Cup or Europa League and will get some minutes, but I don't think we'll see a great deal of him this season.

On the other hand, he could be included on the bench in a PL match, come on as a sub and make an instant impact.
If that happens he may get some more playing time, but it'll still be restricted.
The one thing for sure, he'll get a lot of physical abuse from the opposition, which makes it risky both for the lad himself and the team.

Regardless of whether you think he's ready for the first team or not, a championship loan would be a terrible decision. He's literally just arrived in this country, at the age of 17. Probably hardly speaks a word of English. He's barely played senior football anywhere before. He's a physically still quite delicate and technically refined touch player. You want to send him off to the tender mercies of Barnsley or Preston North End?

Roll a dice: 1-3 he gets kicked off the pitch in his first run-out and never gets off the bench again. 4-5 he gets a bad injury and never quite recovers his pace and/or confidence. 6 he has a successful loan spell at a level which we are already 90% sure is below him. 1-6 he is isolated and miserable throughout.

Some of us are happy for the coaches to decide, they train the players and are fully aware of where they’re at. Seems bizarre people think they know better! I mean yes we can all look forward to his debut but getting annoyed that hes not thrown straight into the mix like Ronaldo is just bizarre. I think our reserve set up is very very good now and they’ll tell Ole when he’s ready.

You are not wrong, and I dont expect a full package with him at his age. My thought is just that when he is introduced to the team, we'd like him to have a certain amount of success in his cameos, preferably better than Tahith Chong's, to give him the sense that he belongs at that level and also our fans to not go apeshit and wreck the lad's mentality. We have seen older, more established, yet maybe not as talented players get their mental destroyed by our fan base, with fair reasons too, and had to move clubs to find their feet again. We have something special here, lets not rush to throw him into the deep end yet.

I don’t think that’s really what it is. Ole has already said he expects him to be featured in the squad sooner rather than later. It’s not on the reserve set up to tell him when he’s ready. Ole and the first team coaching staff will be making that choice. I expect that he’ll most likely be in the FA Cup squad on weds, but play in the U23s match against Friday as that’s their last home game in a while - players in the first team bubble don’t travel for u23 away games. After that he’ll start to be properly integrated.

By the way, the cup game is on Tuesday

Again with the "he needs to bulk" up nonsense. I really don't understand the obsession with a player's physic on this forum. it's like they haven't watched weak midgets like Mata and Silva tear it up for the last decade.

Well I definitely hope he isn’t using medicinal drugs; as for his physique, he could probably do with adding some lean muscle.

After watching today’s game, I am convinced more than ever that the first team needs this kid. Rashford gives an assist but his decision making is shocking 95% of the time, and he is getting worse. This was the difference between 3-3 and 4-3.No way amad would not be an improvement on this, especially when on the right wing.

Silva, especially, was a real terror in his prime.

In 10 years, he's going to be 28 and close to 30, so we really should be looking to sell him this summer.

Yeah I think that is a good idea but whether Ole decides to do it is another thing

With Pogba probably out for Wed I guess it’ll be Mata to take up the available matchday position and not Diallo.

Next in line I guess

Clearly, you aren't aware of the number of professional FIFA managers/geniuses who buy & sell, develop players on a regular basis on the Caf!

Well he has been compared to Hazard, Grealish & Messi in this thread alone, would certainly have one hell of a player on our hands if he has got little elements of all of those players in him somewhere.

Are we going to change the thread title as it seems like he prefers to go just by 'Amad'.

From the Athletic "like Amad — as the 18-year-old Ivorian from Atalanta has requested to be named"

I dont think we will see him playing tomorrow as OGS will now be prioritising the FA Cup since were out of the title chase.

This is exactly why we should see him tomorrow. Best option we have on the right side.

Well seeing as Greenwood has performed really well in the last few games and Amad has yet to play first team football at United, I'd have to disagree with you there.

This is the problem with this place. Lad hasn't played a single game for us yet and he's already our best right winger? Come on. The lad is a talent no doubt but let's see him play first before we start saying such things.

George Best had posters of Diallo when he was a boy.

Calm down please, you watch highlights of Diallo and claim his decision making is better than in much higher pace in the EPL than Rashford judging him watching the full game? Even in the extended highlights which doesn´t show all his weaknesses you can see a lot of underhit passes and wrong decisions. He´s a superb talent but stop with this hyperbole, him being ready to displace some first team players. For my money he can be on the bench instead of Juan Mata/James and be a better option for thre last ten minutes but no way should he start a full game yet. He needs to build fitness too which has a massive efect on first team performances alone.

What's good to see from him for the U23s so far is how composed he seems in the final third. He seems aware of how much time he has and uses it purposefully without rushing anything. If he can bring that to senior level he'll have a good career.
