If there is one thing Ole has got right it is the youth players. Some of you actually live in some make believe reality. Fergie almost never played several youth products in one go except in cup games or dead rubber games. Each year we would see one or two given a few opportunities. This is exactly what we have seen this year. Williams and Greenwood got their opportunities. The other youth players got less time, but still something. I repeat, this is exactly what used to happen with Fergie.
If Gomes was ready, he would have featured more. The evidence is that when Shaw was injured, thre was no hesistation to play Williams. The fact that Ole has been so careful to play Gomes suggest he isn't ready.
Some of you need to just accept that and move on. This thread has become an embarassment.
The fact that Solskjaer has been so reluctant to play Gomes suggests that Solskjaer may think he’s not ready, or too small, or just not good enough, etc. Are you saying there is nothing the manager has done here that you have disagreed with? The whole ‘obviously not ready (ie good enough)/ not showing enough in training’ is a nonsense argument when objecting to posters who want to see him more, based on what they’ve seen from all of him, Lingard, Pereira and Mata.
Williams has nothing to do with, and is completely irrelevant in assessing, Gomes.
Physically, Gomes looked more prepared for senior football at the beginning of the season than Greenwood did, yet Greenwood has been properly integrated into the first team while Gomes has not been given a fair crack of the whip at all.
Other young players being given a fair chance is not an indication that Gomes will get his or that him not getting his is justifiable. Why would it be - he is watching others surpass him in squad standing while he is starved of reasonable game time.
