Sorry if I misunderstood ... what's the link between homegrouwn and FFP?
Not an accountant, so my wording will be slightly clumsy. Because he was home grown we didn’t pay a transfer fee, and that is important because we don’t have to amoritise any of his remaining book value to the profit and loss account on sale. The £15 million is pure profit for FFP purposes, because there is nothing to a mortise/depreciate to the profit and loss account as an expense.

Contrast that with Maguire. He has (I think) 2 years of his first contract left and was bought for (approximately) £80 million. If we sold him now, we would have to amortise/depreciate 2/6ths of £80M as an expense to the profit and loss account.

So had Elanga just flown to the US 2 days ago, to now fly back to the UK?

Must have done it for the air miles.

I think £15m for Elanga would be a good deal to be honest. I'd imagine that there'll be a chunk of that which is add-ons, so won't get giddy. But to move him on an get a decent fee seems good.

We always sell players pretty cheap. Feel like if we was trying to sign him we’d get quoted about 50-60m. I’m not saying he’s worth that by the way.

Good fee. Hopefully we can do a few more deals like this for outgoing players

We don’t really sign players as bad as him. James the exception I guess.

Solid fee. He's not nearly as good as some on here would have you believe.

Good deal for all. Nice move for Elanga as well. He has the pace and physical attributes to be a useful player for them, just needs more experience and consistency.

Good luck to him and hope he does well.

He was a regular under Rangnick wasn’t he?

Glad to see Utd getting an ok fee for once, assuming it’ll be reinvested and not just used for Avram’s next prostitute

I think that’s a really good fee. He’s miles off.

Hopefully it goes through, and good luck to him.

He’s value is miles off yet he’s still valued at £4m lower than City youth GK, when Elanga has scored for his national team and in the PL, we are seriously awful at selling players only united could F…up a sale of A Teles to Saudi Goldmine league.

He’s nowhere near good enough. There were some suggesting he should be starting for us instead of Antony last season.

Bollocks. £15 million is a really good fee. If Elanga is still playing Premier League football within the next three years I’d be surprised.

Using City as a benchmark is laughable. Their numbers are bent and everybody knows it.

Was massively over-promoted by Rangnick. Decent fee, good move for him. As others have said, seems like one which suits all parties.
