Irrelevant.. He scored a pen, in a loss.
If there was ever proof of how crap a player is, it's that they scored a penalty for the losing side. Yawn.

Nah, I'm really not. They're all young so I'm very confident they'll learn. However, they lack the basic principles of the game. One of those being movement.
There was another instance in the game where Young delivered a delightful ball from the right across the goal. All three stood still and let Ederson claim it. In my opinion, Rashford, Lingard and Martial are capable of so much more than yesterday. Yes, it'd be helpful if we could have more of the ball. However, against a Pep team, that's always going to be unlikely.
We had around 35% possession and probably 40% after the first 10 minutes - that's actually not a bad amount of the ball. Unfortunately, we did very little with it.
Do I really need to answer that? Look at Lingard last season, Look at Matic and Lukaku this season.
Isn't that why we're paying our manager like 18 million per year to improve them and get the best out of them?
It's hard to develop an attacking talent when you're actually more focused to get that player to track back than to actually attack imo.
Man you cannot be serious about possession, we couldn't have had more than 20% in the opening 10 minutes, they absolutely killed us in that regard. Think I ever saw a tweet in the matchday thread with exact number.
We could barely keep the ball for a few seconds. How are we supposed to get players like martial on the ball and cause some problems? He spends more time tracking back to help the FB instead of attacking defenders. When we had a bit more of the ball in other games he was a threat clearlyWhy not? Is he not capable of more?
So you think that Martial doesn't and didn't have people saying he was shite like these guys?
Have I said he was shite? Am I asking for people to call him shite? Maybe I'm one of a few posters who feel like he's actually capable of so much more even when he's "marked by two defenders".
I don't know if you even read what I posted. After 10-12 minutes, City had 90% of the ball. Therefore, given that our overall possession was 35%, I assuming we had close to 40% from minutes 12-93. That's more than enough to actually do something. Yes, our style is fecking awful, but we don't help ourselves with the amount of times we give the ball away.
Running at pace vs standing start. Martial was never afforded the opportunity of running at pace at the City defenders as they press so high up the pitch and every time Martial received the ball there were at least 2 city players up his arse. There was a point in yesterdays game where Sane glided past every player in our team yet you're telling me theres no Martial can get past two players?
Haha, you misunderstand me
I meant the "pre-worded posts" for the person you were replying to @NinjaFletch
I was actually supporting you bro
First part's on me then, I haven't paid close attention.
Our overall possession was 32% which is shocking considering we were supposed to be chasing the result.
But dude our shambolic play style is one of the reasons we give ball away so much, there's no movement, no attacking patterns, nothing resembling a well drilled plan. It's all hoof it upfront and pray it hits the target man.
I'm willing to bet that out of 68% possession City had, they had more of that possession on our half than we had in total .
Tough times mate, tough times.Fair enough. I don't disagree with any of this. I still feel our players can do a lot more than was displayed yesterday. But Jose isn't doing us any favours with the shit style. We should have pressed a lot more yesterday (but thats for a different thread).
Injury? He has been pulled out of the France squad. That's a shame.
Shame as national team managers dont really like seeing that, especially those in Martials situation where he doesnr get many call ups. If he pulls out over a small niggle they'll be less inclined to give him future call ups.He has been pulled out of the France squad. That's a shame.

Oh if it's that then it would look much better. If United pulled him out before going then it would probably not sit well with Deschamps.I'm not sure if he pulled out, there is a medical during the first morning of every national team meeting and it's the FFF doctor that ruled both Pogba and Martial out.

What's wrong with that exactly? It is a fact that he's scored in 5 consecutive games, a feat that isn't easy to pull off hence why it got a mention. Not saying he is crap. I just cringed at the twitter post celebrating his 5th consecutive goal after a 3-1 loss to City.

My apologies, I have a habit of misunderstanding posts around here, it seems.
When you win you can say lots of stuff. How did Martial score 4 in 5 open play goals if he is so easy to mark and our philosophy is so obvious. I don't see opposition defenders past few matches saying such things? They must all be a level below Zabaleta. Weird timing when Martial is on hot form.
He is saying that our attacking structure is soo bad that West Ham right spent more time attacking than our winger.
Well what do we have to feel positive about otherwise? Martial carrying on a terrific scoring run is the only real one. So I'm certainly pleased with that. Not saying he is crap. I just cringed at the twitter post celebrating his 5th consecutive goal after a 3-1 loss to City.
He's become a bit predictable and the City defence were onto him. He needs to switch things up a bit as the constant cutting onto his right foot to place a shot into the far corner is becoming easy to defend against.
This is one thing i have noticed about him.
Hes extremely predictable and one dimensional.
He also slows us down, doesnt offer a constant threat and fades out of the game too easily compared to other top wingers.
Oh, the one dimensional argument is back... some people really have no clue. This is one thing i have noticed about him.

Yes it's not like we don't already know martial has a mint cutback for when defenders overcommit to block his right foot.Oh, the one dimensional argument is back... some people really have no clue.
Or his pretty good short passing game, or the way he draws fouls with his back to goal... but yeah, all he does is cut in.Yes it's not like we don't already know Martial has a mint cutback for when defenders overcommit to block his right foot.
Slows you down as opposed to who else on the team? He's one of the few players capable of quick link up play, one of two players capable of beating his man on skills alone, and the only one showing consistent goalscoring at the moment.
Again, understand what kind of team you have at your disposal to appreciate what Martial is working with to make something happen. I can't think of a single player on this United team to which your criticism least applies to than Martial when it comes to attacking options.
