What utter shite
What message does it send to the rest of the squad when a player can loaf around and take the piss out of the club for six seasons and STILL be selected?

I understand people don't have the cognitive abilities to see the big picture, and why therefore it's such an issue - but then when those same people are moaning about work rate, culture, leaks against the manager...herein lies the root cause of those issues.

Phone-in performances, idle around the pitch, do nothing of note week after week - doesn't matter, you'll still get paid a massive salary and you'll be back in the team before long.

Unacceptable. Win, lose or draw. Completely unacceptable.

This total lack of bravery and conviction in decision making is why we fail to move forward as a club.
So McTominay as CF then or run Hojlund into the ground with Bayern and Liverpool coming up?

Granted, we are likely to lose both anyway, and even a win against Bayern might be worse than a loss, but you still have to use the squad you have at your disposal, especially with the Dec/holiday fixture pile ups.

Literally any other player in the squad, bar Marcus Rashford. Alex Ferguson. The Ghost of Bobby Charlton. You. Me. A Traffic Cone. Play with 10. Fred the Red. A Lou Macari Fish Supper. Joel Glazer.
And you talk about cognitive ability

Interesting

Should never start for the club again. The contrast between him and Solanke was hugely telling

He was okay today, much better than Hojlund at least who can't even control a ball at his feet.

Anthony Martial's game by numbers vs. Bournemouth:

76% pass accuracy
11 possessions lost
1 shot
1 key pass
0 dribbles
0 goals
0 assists

Nnothing player, doesn't even put in the effort. I would rather play a youngster or play without a number 9 than give him any more minutes. He's an absolute disgrace.

Being scapegoated a bit as usual. He wasn’t good but Højlund was probably worse.

The presence of Hojlund actually contributed more in the first 5/10 minutes than Martial upfront. What are you talking about? He was virtually a ghost again except for a couple of passes

Yep, he is a shite player but Antony, Hojlund, and Rashford have all been just as bad this season. Either way, it would be stupid to offer him a contract extension.

He was still very bad but honestly thought he looked like he was trying at times, which is more than you can usually say for him. Need a few glimpses of that if we’ve got any chance at selling him.

I literally feel nauseous seeing him on the field. Same for Rashford. Whilst the latter has had some success, both players should be used as case studies of how laziness can ruin all talent - in fact, Sancho could be added to the list

Watching him is honestly sad nowadays. It seems he can barely run anymore. (In before the jokes about how he never actually ran in the first place).

He used to be one of my favourite players to watch. His close control and dribbling in his first few years here were often the highlights of our games for me.

Nope, just being objective. While Martial wasn't great either, Hojlund failed even the basics like controlling a ball while running.
Martial did NOTHING. When Rasmus came on we suddenly had a presence. Dalot squares that and we have a different game. Rasmus was poor but added something positive to our attack, Martial actively detracted from it.

A serious club would have moved him on a long time ago, paying him off if necessary

Just pointless

Agreed. Today it felt like he was let down by his ability, rather than his effort. I thought he was sensible enough with the ball after the break before being subbed.

The contrast between the service to Solanke and him was hugely telling as well.

Our strikers cant do anything if you don’t fecking pass to your CF. Look at what Dalot did to Hoijland.

I don’t think he’d be getting into any other PL team, and it speaks volumes that he’ll be eligible for a testimonial at the club soon.

He’d struggle in any team that only can cross to create a chance and never play through the middle.

Hard to say he can't play when it's going to mean Hojlund being run into the ground. But also, it's just bad watching him play.

If only we tried something different with him. Instead of Mctominay why not put martial up top with hojlund or something. Idk try something different. Martial could drop deep and then hojlund be up making the runs.

Awful planning from the club to give him such a long contract in 2019, he'd shown after 4 years at the club he wasn't up to it then. More awful planning to not get a proper striker in who isn't 35 over the last few seasons and then have to splurge £75m on a kid who should be back up.

One of the biggest frauds in modern football, surely?

He is 28 btw, and people are still waiting for him to do what he is supposed to do.

First thing Ineos need to do on day one is rip his contract up. Set the standard straight away. The fact that Martial has been able to get away with disgraceful performances season after season epitomises the state the club has been in for a decade.

Agreed. Martial was decent today. His scapegoating is frankly disgusting. He is still quite comfortably our best forward.

A few things go in Hojlund's favour though. Mainly, he's not been shite for the best part of 8 years for us. Plus he's new to the club and deserves time to bed in. It's difficult at the best of times, never mind the shit show he's walked into.
