This seasons final very well represents the football landscape right now. Two clubs bankrolled by sugar daddies in the final. It's all about £.
Which "big-game" did he lose?
edit: nvm, forgot about Porto
Is their squad any better than ours?Has them playing how plenty of us were fearing they would when they went full FM in the summer window. Tuchel is clearly a very good manager, but Lampard very quickly made everyone forget how absolutely packed with talent that squad is now. I don't think he's exactly working miracles.
You never knows what you get with Tuchel. He falled out fast with every club he has been at. PSG went from champions league finalists to a sh*t show in no time ! And nobody is lasting long at Chelsea.Ugh, a Chelsea - City final is thoroughly depressing. At least Perez will be crying into his paella. Congrats Chelsea, plz beat City.
Player for player, surely our defence is better than Chelsea's? Tuchel has quickly transformed them into a really well drilled side. They'll be a problem next season, assuming he gets the transfers he wants (whatever they may be).
I asked what did Woodward specifically do that made United lose points against Basaksehir. You said he hamstrung the squad for years. I disagree that that performance against Basaksehir is something to blame Woodward for when this same squad did very well against PSG and thrashed Leipzig 5-0 at home. But why choose one game to argue about when the point was about squad building and how the club is run?
Do you think Ole got what it takes ? He's improved us no question but I still have serious doubts he can take us to that next level. Plus we still need a few signing in transfer window.Pogba's not going anywhere.
We'll likely have a decent window.
It's season 3. We need to start challenging next season.
I think their defense edges it, but their midfield is where it's clear. Jorginho and Kante are interception machines, with endless cardio.Player for player, surely Chelsea's defense is better than yours.
I already wrote it in the match day thread, but here again: I'm really, really happy for him.
I was always a big fan of him and thought that his reputation of having a questionable and unlikable character was undeserved (mainly thanks to Watzke and Zorc).
He was impressive at Mainz, he was very impressive at Dortmund and he was impressive at PSG where he formed a good team out of brilliant individuals.
Yet he didn't get enough credit for it. I was quite baffled by many comments on here when Chelsea appointed him.
But it only took him weeks to transform a laughable defense into a very stable team with loads of self confidence.
They are a completely different team than under Lampard. Brilliant performance by Tuchel and I'm glad he seems to get more credit for it.

If so, that's a complete failure of a season.
At some point, we need to actually challenge for the big trophies.
Only thing I disagree with here is I think Chavs better than us.
Is their squad any better than ours?
You asked why were the Glazers responsible for us losing that one game, which makes zero senseI asked what did Woodward specifically do that made United lose points against Basaksehir. He's a weird one. He usually oscillates between being stuck in Pep Guardiola's asshole and thinking everything in the Bundesliga / German is better than anything else.He won't, he'll use all the stats to prove you Tuchel is the best thing since sliced bred, he accuse me being biased but he is just a german defending a german
That was bad finishing from you, fair enough I conced you that, if you had someone who could finish it would have been a massacre but this Madrid side is all over the place, they could not even run !Mate is this a joke? Atleti have made hay in the CL by playing absolutely dire football under Simeone; cannot for the life of me comprehend thinking that was the most boring CL tie involving Atleti considering we comprehensively played them off the park.
Porto I'll grant you but that was a weird tie given both legs were at a neutral site so away goals were of outsize importance. Certainly not a performance to write home about but again we were comfortably better.
I cannot understand how you thought these matches against Madrid were boring; there were chances galore and Madrid were only properly killed off with 5 minutes left in the second leg. How can that possibly be considered boring? We had 3.6 xG today for goodness' sake!
Hmm. Apart from Kante, who's fantastic of course, I would consider the midfield Chelsea's weak area. Neither Jorginho nor Kovacic are anything special, even if admittedly Jorginho has been very good recently.I think their defense edges it, but their midfield is where it's clear. Jorginho and Kante are interception machines, with endless cardio.
Do you think Ole got what it takes ? He's improved us no question but I still have serious doubts he can take us to that next level. Plus we still need a few signing in transfer window.
I'm not sure about that at all.Player for player, surely Chelsea's defense is better than yours.
Why is that lucky?
No, I asked what did the Glazers do that prevented Utd from reaching the CL final as you blamed our owners. You then mentioned they kept Woodward in charge. You asked why were the Glazers responsible for us losing that one game, which makes zero sense
You know what people think now ? Never seen as boring games as against Porto, Atletico and Madrid.
And no, United was always about fast, direct football since the Busby babes, there is an etho and a philosophy about the club, like for Ajax and Barca. And I won't want us to change that, I love football because of that.
I am biased sure, as every supporter toward his club. But I can admit city is playing good football, I just don't think the same about Chelsea, and it was the same when Tuchel was at Paris. He may be a brillant coach and tactician but I don't particulary like his football.
By the way, if you did not see I became "cringeworthy" when people try to convince me with some facts as draws and XG...
No need to discuss any further as you actually have Maguire over fecking Thiago Silva.I'm not sure about that at all.
Henderson/De Gea vs Mendy - evens? Mendy appears to have had a really good CL campaign, so that might edge it their way slightly. Neither option stands out
Shaw vs Chilwell - easy peasy
Maguire vs Thiago Silva
Lindelof vs Rudiger
AWB vs Reece James - Reece James seems full of potential, but surely AWB takes this one?
I dunno, maybe I've been bias here. That's genuinely how I see it, though.

I get that is was a good match for you but for a neutral not so much. Bayern-PSG was an excinting match, this one not so much !
Good luck for the final, I hope you win it !
It all depends of the transfer window ! Hope we have a good one as we did not buy for the first team this year. Only a free and aggeing player. Compare that to the Chelsea and city window ! Ole did a good job by improving the young players he has. He may not be SAF but he is the best since he retired and I would like him to get a proper chance to win with us.Personally I don't, but for the people that think he has what it takes, there's no excuse why he can't challenge next season.
We are streets ahead going forward. Bruno, Rashford, Greenwood, Pogba and Cavani is surely better than anything they can put out. They do have better options in CM, though.I think their defense edges it, but their midfield is where it's clear. Jorginho and Kante are interception machines, with endless cardio.

Er, ok then. From what I've heard Thiago Silva has had a decent season, nothing special. Surprised that illicited such an extreme reaction to be honest. No need to discuss any further as you actually have Maguire over fecking Thiago Silva.
Guess we'll have to agree to disagree.
He supports a small loser club. I mean who the hell gets beaten at home 0-5 by David Moyes? He's a weird one. He usually oscillates between being stuck in Pep Guardiola's asshole and thinking everything in the Bundesliga / German is better than anything else.
That's true. It affords them an extra element of defensive stability. Even is about fair.Chelsea play a five though, so you'd want James or Azpilicueta as a wing back over AWB and you'd have Silva as the third CB. I think they're about even.
I don't think it's an extreme reaction. Thiago Silva. Harry Maguire.Er, ok then. From what I've heard Thiago Silva has had a decent season, nothing special. Surprised that illicited such an extreme reaction to be honest.

Silva is on another planet to Maguire as a player. Maguire is just mediocre all around. Both are probably about level defensively - Maguire is better in the air, Silva is better at reading the game and making interceptions proactively (at least in my opinion; not sure what the stats say). The difference though is in their distribution - Silva is probably the best passing CB in the world and he offers so much more value in possession than Maguire does; think he has to shade it at the moment.
Maybe a touch. Harry Maguire over Thiago Silva.I dunno, maybe I've been bias here. That's genuinely how I see it, though.

I will behave so I deleted that laughing smiley.
Just to add to this that I rate Maguire and I think he gets too much unfair criticism here. But he aint better than Thiago Silva.Maybe a touch. Harry Maguire over Thiago Silva.

I actually think this is slightly overstated, in the way that people act like he's crazy or something. From my understanding this is what happened..It's not that surprising tbh. Tuchel has shown himself to be a top class manager at a number of clubs, the issues are that he falls out with clubs higher ups.
