Anyone but Liverpool.
This. The obsession in this forum with Liverpool is kind of annoying. There seem to be some people who hate Liverpool more than they love United.Couldnt give a rats. All i care for is how we do.
Exactly. It will eclipse our treble which has lasted for 20 years.I don't ever want City to beat our treble season with a quadruple. If they do that and keep the momentum going we become the 2nd club in Manchester in neutrals eyes.
I agree.Overhaul Liverpool? We’ve won more top league titles than them, have I misunderstood? As much as I don’t want them to win the league it’s not as bad as City winning the Quadruple.
Exactly you would have had less money - City are like when you find a cheat mode on a game and win everything, it is inevitable, means nothing and provides no satisfaction - everything they have achieved in the last few years is totally and utterly meaningless and their fans have nothing that they can brag about. As a non-United fan, I would imagine Liverpool winning the league would be worse.
This would be a truly great achievement, to finish ahead of a team that accumulated 100 points last season, and will probably get around 95 this season. Even the hardest of hardcore Liverpool haters would have to admit that.
City play some great football, and no-one can deny that Guardiola is a great coach, but they are now utterly soulless, and when they do finally win the CL it will be a completely hollow victory and empty achievement. Everyone knows this. Even City fans know this, that's why they're (a) so defensive about it, (b) some of them even wish they could return to the old days.
Because every one of their fans knows that if they hadn't had obscene amounts of money pumped into the club, by a group of highly compromised individuals with absolutely no geographical or cultural links with the club whatsoever, then they would be exactly what they were before that happened...a completely irrelevant also-ran.
City winning the quadruple isn't an achievement. It was a bigger achievement when I did the quadruple on Football Manager with Stockport.
I tend to agree. The thought of both makes me sick; however, the quadruple would give the financially inflated neighbors something we’ve never done. Also, it’s not like the Scouse have never won the league, they just haven’t in the Premier League era. Both are a shambles - it's a matter of time before Scouse win prem so I'd rather that than City outdo our treble.
It’s a losers attitude — celebrating the losses of others instead of our victoriesThis. The obsession in this forum with Liverpool is kind of annoying. There seem to be some people who hate Liverpool more than they love United.
I disagree with this point of view....Nothing’s ever really “a matter of time”.Matter of time could also mean another 30 years...But just because they look good right now doesn’t mean that they will eventually win the league under Klopp if they fail to win it this season. Both are a shambles - it's a matter of time before Scouse win prem so I'd rather that than City outdo our treble.
You are philosophical and that is beautiful. But let's look a little deeper at what you say.I think it’s a losers attitude to even debate this. Who cares who wins if it’s not going to be us.
Do you guys think pogba, OGS, or any other players/managers are saying “I hope Liverpool don’t win the league” and “I hope city don’t win the CL?”
It’s cool to have favorites and hope a certain team wins, but to wish for defeat of specific teams is a losers attitude , in my opinion.
Not every Liverpool fan is an asshole singing about plane crashes, for example. Shit happened in the past... hate the people that sing about non sense but to hate a club and it’s players (that aren’t assholes) is childish.
“That's not the sign of a true champion for me. He's celebrating my loss... He's celebrating somebody else's victory.”
I think this quote holds true... and speaks of the mindset champions should have.
Liverpool still have to catch us, we've got 20 titles to their 18, which will be 19 if they win it this season. But in either case, City quad would be devastating, I can accept 1 PL win from Liverpool as long as we get stronger and start winning it ourselves again, to make the gap bigger again and make sure they're firmly knocked off their perch permanently.Exactly. It will eclipse our treble which has lasted for 20 years.
At least if Liverpool win the PL - and that will be painful enough because I love that they've never won it - I think we will have more chance of eventually catching their haul, and probably overtaking it. We are unlikely to ever better a quad - do we want City to have that kind of permanent honour?
I mean, it must be nice for them, to some degree! It can't have been particularly enjoyable for hardcore City fans to live through the Fergie years!Exactly you would have had less money - City are like when you find a cheat mode on a game and win everything, it is inevitable, means nothing and provides no satisfaction - everything they have achieved in the last few years is totally and utterly meaningless and their fans have nothing that they can brag about.
That’s not more pertinent, that just makes the choice even easier. What'd be worse: City quadruple or Liverpool win the Premier League and the Champions League? I think that's a bit more pertinent.
You know you can have a little brother who’s a cnut, right?Little what?
Maybe in Norway...over here they're just the cnuts of the highest order
