Might be seen as completely separate , not saying I’d do it but can’t imagine it would have much impact one way or another but I’d imagine it would be Tuesday or later in the week.

Where are the people who wanted something solid from “BBC “ I guess they won’t believe it until a club statement is made.

“nothing concrete , just the same information again, I’ll wait until someone reliable says it”

If it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, acts like a duck, it’s probably a duck.

So it is indeed £1.25bn for 25%, valuation of £5bn. We can now safely conclude that glazers never wanted to sell the whole club, and Jassim never stood a chance. He would have been raising his bids indefinitely to no avail.

Also there's nothing about any future roadmap for full ownership, this is something some of us suspected, there will be no roadmap. Oh well, it is what it is.
No you just don't get it.

I really struggle with the nonsense that one guy is going to save us which is why I never buy into the hipster DOF names or midfield signings that everyone thinks will be the messiah. Is Paul Mitchell actually any good?
Better than what we have I'm sure, so it's good enough for now. Long term, it's unclear i think.

Not sure how many times this needs to be explained. Ratcliffe's implied valuation of the club's equity with this offer is reportedly $6.5B. This means you have to add some $600M odd for the net debt to put it in comparable terms to Jassim's bid. That means Ratcliffe's present valuation is about $1B higher than Jassim's, not to mention, one would think any potential future "phases" to this transaction would logically have to value the club equal to or greater than its current valuation.

Indeed

Jim's PR is good, you have to say. There's now no mention of 'future roadmap to full ownership'. In a couple of months, there'll probably be no mention of the £250m investment either.

Making money for owners. He's pretty adept at that. Oh, and also pretty good at following orders from superiors as there's little evidence of extensive experience as the top dog or evidence of success at a club that has a requirement to win the biggest trophies. People wonder why he's the number one candidate? Just open your eyes to what we're about to become.

Sack everyone that matters on the footballing side and Richard Arnold. Have a caretaker see the season out while overhauling the structure above the manager. Then hire De Zerbi or Ancelotti in the summer and dispense with the dross infesting the squad.

Doing that will go a long way, but I doubt it's going to happen.

Well…the job we are set to hire him for? Running the football operations at Manchester United.
He's decisive, good at structuring the workflow of the various parts of recruitment into a viable and sensible overall strategy, and is reportedly good at identifying systemic issues. How that translates to Man Utd and how quickly he gets to grips with it is anyone's guess.

Replacing Murtough will come with teething problems, that is inevitable, but I think Ratcliffe just wants his own people in the door to avoid any contamination of old ideas and decision making processes.

I think the gist of the two bids is INEOS were willing to potentially pay more if the value of the club rose at a certain point in time, as well as the possibility on the INEOS side that it may not be as much as the Glazers think it will be. Hypothetically INEOS will either pay something like the £5bn or £7.5bn for the entire club, depending on share performance over a period of time.

Meanwhile the Qatari bid was something like £5-5.5bn for everything right now and since they weren’t looking to go above that highest possible price that INEOS might have been paying, then they were an inferior bid I guess. I think using my hypothetical example, if the Qatari bid exceeded £7.5bn then they’d have favoured them.

I was hoping for SJ but will now get behind the SJR mini takeover and hope, hope it can turn the tide for this great club that is sinking

Why not?
We’ve consistently topped the table of wages and transfer spend. The issue has never been spending money, its been decision making.

For the fortune spend on Antony we could have gotten a proper winger, instead of Mount a decent box to box. We didn’t penny pinch, the money dropped on them is quite generous, enough to buy good players.

Get a proper modern structure with the know how of running a football club, we might stand a chance who knows.

All of our football “structure” likely being tossed out is music to my ears.

I can’t say with any certainty what they do individually and how good they are at their jobs, but our transfers are poor and the on field performances are poor, so that’s enough for me to think that they aren’t up to scratch.

Yeah fully except a lot of the other "good vibes" type of noise to also disappear gradually. But then we're used to this as United fans.

I reckon it's mildly good news that Ratcliffe comes in. Damn sight better than the parasites running the show on their own or Jassi the invisible man bathing in the blood of migrant slaves.

Let's hope at the very least we can get a proper sporting structure in place and stop the scattergun transfer policy of the past few years.

Hopefully we will see a stop to overpaying for other teams castoffs or indulging the manager of the time too much.

A football structure where the manager isn’t king of transfers is great. That’s been our problem. A lot of it still seems to revolve around a system where Ferguson was here.

If we spend hundreds of millions based on a head coach’s opinion, it’s extremely risky long term since the average shelf life of a head coach is like three years and it’s no guarantee those players are all going to be good enough and then we’re stuck with them for a while. The replacement head coach then has to work with what he’s got and then he gets his hundreds of millions to spend. As a result we’re left with a Frankensteins monster of a team.

At least with two or three directors heading up the operations who dictate policies, it’s a lot more manageable and we’re not putting our eggs in one basket. Those directors are the key players to success now. The old school managers like Ferguson and Wenger in modern times could easily be football directors these days, as opposed to being the head coach.

I'll be interested to see if there is a bit of an instant uplift in atmosphere and mood behind the scenes once this is completed, like Newcastle. From what I've heard things are very fractious and borderline toxic behind the scenes. The Muppetiers suggested the other day that a disgruntled Richard Arnold has allegedly been leaking things to the media and there is not a lot of communication going on between key people behind the scenes. You have to think that has a massive effect on the general mood of the club and hopefully, once there is a resolution we can see this disappear.

I think the situation is basically:

Jim is a minority investor. 25% ownership. In return he’s going to take the heat off the Glazers by being the face of the club and being in charge of running the footballing side of things. In the outside he will have complete control but behind closed doors Joel and Avram will provide checks and balance and sign off on major decisions.

What Jim gets in return for that is basically everything he wants. He’s for all intents and purposes going to be the front man for the club and his INEOS brand is going to be heavily involved. So he pays 25% and gets what he wants and the Glazers get to cash out a bit and still keep their Pie so they can cash out at an ever high premium in years to come.

Don't think so.

The fact that the Glazers reached out to Nasser Al-Khelaifi at a certain point to help increase the bid makes me think they definitely had an asking price in mind that the Qataris refused to entertain.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Every single one of them plus Fletcher must be shoved out the door.
Why Fletcher? His main role is just helping with the pipeline between the academy and the first team, helping the players themselves and also helping the management decide which ones are ready to step up. He's also the main one staying in communication with the kids we loan out.

The combination of his job title (the rather grandiose sounding 'Technical Director') and the fact he had to step into more of a coaching/advisory role when Rangnick took over seems to make people think he's got more influence than he does. He only did that since both Carrick and McKenna also left and Rangnick couldn't get all his preferred backroom staff in, so Fletcher stepped in to help out. Honestly, they should probably just change his job title so there's less confusion about what he's doing.

I think there's a fair chance that he's got an eye on a bigger role in the future, but as long as he proves that he deserves it that'll be a good thing. Other top clubs all over Europe have ex-players in important roles. Alternatively maybe he'll just stay where he is, focusing more on the kids in the academy.

When Wenger came to Arsenal he brought with him "knowledge" of the French market that other managers at the time couldn't match. The concept of a manager doing that today in the age of analytics is absurd.

On a YouTube show, I forget which, Wenger basically says that his job has been split into 4 roles. Sporting Director, Technical Director, Head Coach/Manager and a bunch of assistants in charge of match management, motivation, coaching schedules , etc ,etc.

The job is so much bigger now - and we seem to be the only club that hasn't quite realised it yet.

I guess the positive is that we'll finally have some clarity.

Taking off the selfish, rose tinted glasses from a fan perspective, I'm glad we won't have middle-eastern ownership.

The sport is already heading in the wrong way in my eyes, and I fear that state ownership of an institution like Manchester United would have been the final nail in the coffin.
