Probably because Antony has an unlikeable personality, Weghorst was a "recruit" and was way worse than Antony, but he was a likeable bloke. I also think the fact that he's Brazilian has something to do with it, an assumption that a winger from Brazil should be someone in the style of one of Brazil's greats
Does Sancho not after all this? Also at the very least Antony works his socks off every game. I have much more disdain for players who don't even put in the effort for us.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder, think how Fred was a much better player for us now he's gone!

As for the disdain, I'm with you 100% on that

100%. Sancho may be moody at times, but Antony is genuinely a cnut. He's just motivated now because the manager likes him.
Sancho may have never had a good game for us and phoned it in from day one but Antony is a cnut because... reasons?

Antony may not be worth £80m but you can't fault his effort. What's with the anger?

Moody at times

He's lost 6 months of his career due to stropping because the manager said he didn't train well enough to make a matchday squad.

He's also sprinted back like twice in his entire Utd career.

If we don't go full out for Edwards I have no trust in our new football structure. Dream scenario is him as DOF and Mitchell as Head of Recruitment.
Doesn't appear to be any interest in Edwards full stop, also wish we had got plans for both a DOF and Head of Recruitment

You're projecting now. We all knew Antony was a cnut from the day he refused to train with Ajax in order to force a move. We just hoped we could become our cnut.

Weirdly exciting prospect to have a CEO with some actual football background prior to joining United. Should have been the basic thing all along

Who knows. We might replace Arnold and Murtough with 2 people with top level successful football experience in similar roles and we’re actually going to start being a top team again

let’s hope

I see what you mean.

Yeah, it'll be like Txiki and Doku. The Sporting Director will make a judgement on who suits the coach, on the understanding that the coach suits the idea of how Manchester United wants to play.
Yeah hopefully that's exactly what happens

So Antony is a cnut, but our cnut.
Sancho is a cnut, but not our cnut.

Yeah, for me it's a definite positive and I'm very optimistic about the future. My axe to grind with the club even more than the Glazer ownership was the competence of the people in charge. They've proven over and over and over again for 10 years that they are absolute dogshit at everything except juicing commercial revenues. I was briefly hopeful about the future after Murtough was promoted thanks to Adnan and co brainwashing me but I'm convinced that the rot runs deeper now.

I wanted Ten Hag out too because he seems to be totally incapable of judging player quality (he managed Antony directly at Ajax and thought he was good enough for United and got us to pay 90m for him!)

But I'm willing to reserve judgement for a little while to see if the new sporting director + CEO can knock some sense into him and let him focus on coaching.

Antony has been shit this season, but last season he was comfortably better than Sancho has ever been for us. That's not to say that he was good enough, but Sancho has been consistently worse throughout his time here.

Stone latest tweet suggests Ratcliffe can't appoint anyone for next 6-8 weeks until he has passed Premier League tests

Are we expecting there to be a path/transition to full ownership set out when there is an announcement? If not, hard to be excited by any of this.

Yeah exactly, and I didn't think he would ever be beaten but Sancho and Antony have absolutely jumped ahead of him.
I'm not sure about Antony. The only thing that might put Antony ahead is the transfer fee. Otherwise Sanchez' performances were worse, his wage was higher, and he had a worse knock-on effect throughout the rest of the team.

Sancho is probably worse though, yeah.

If you think Antony is the worst recruit ever by the club then you haven't been watching United for very long
I quite like Antony. I can see him become a really good player one day in the right environment..

So Blanc as CEO replaces Arnold and Mitchell as Sporting Director, is the latter a new role or is he replacing Murtough?
