But you realise thats like throwing 50 pence into the ocean? the stadium and training ground need a redevelopment or a brand new build 300m in getting us nowhere

Madrid's just done a redevelopment and it cost 1.4 billion
it says will enable “future” development

$300M is just the start

I've not been following the ins and outs but isn't this at least a fairly good step towards getting the Glaziers out?

Well not really theres no road to a full takeover. The debt is still there. The stadium needs doing in which 300m will give it a lick of paint

Shit deal. The only shining light is the Glazers no longer have sporting control but he's not exactly set the world alight at his other clubs and with only 25% he wont be pumping millions in i think

& so the moaning begins
And rightly so

Look at the deal its awful

Sir Jim/ Qatar whoever takes control I couldn't care less but at 25% its awful for the club

300m dollars will get us a new roof at OT and a new coat of paint

Glazers were on their knees and Jim has given them a lifeline.

Things happen so quickly in football, lads. One day the Glazers announce they are exploring strategic alternatives and then just 13 short months later - as if out of nowhere - Jimothy Ratcliffe swoops in and snags a cool 25% of the club in a moment no one could have anticipated.

Merry feckin’ Christmas.

Surely to feck theyve been able to start assessing in some capacity long before today :nervous:
You think they’d allow to asses the clubs inner workings before purchasing the club? Heck allow him to look at the whole inner workings of the club and then pull out the deal.

Make no mistake the £2bn or so purchase of the shares is NOT investment. Which is what I am saying. The 300m dollars is positive but in the great scheme of things chicken feed. As I say, this is no revolution.
When you buy a financial asset, like shares in a football club, that is called an investment.

Get in. Fecking get in. Irrespective of how it works, how long it takes, it's better than no shot at making things better under the Glazers which seemed the only real alternative. Happy Xmas all and may 2024 finally be the year we start to resurrect our club.

The future of football director John Murtough is unclear. The indications are Brailsford is aiming to appoint a sporting director to oversee operations as well as a transfer specialist to refine recruitment. This has been interpreted by some as terminal for Murtough, and some people at the club anticipate his departure eventually, but sources insist no decision has yet been made.

Sources close to the INEOS bid, speaking on condition of anonymity when relaying private conversations, have told The Athletic that Ratcliffe sees the improvement of infrastructure at Old Trafford and the club’s Carrington training ground as essential. His proposal also included a statement of intent to invest in the women’s team at United.

Fair comment. I do think it wouldn’t take too much effort to figure out what’s going wrong from the outside though!

Who says it's going towards Old Trafford. I grant you this, $300m wont touch the surface at Old Trafford, however thats a pretty big amount of money when you look at renovating Carrington for first team, womens and juniors

No path to full ownership is insane. Jim is desperate for going through with this, it's a bad deal. Glazers mugged everyone off big time

Yes it's absolutely a good thing. If it hadn't come with sporting control then it would have been pointless.

There are no guarantees, but these guys coming in have experience running football operations and that's a million percent more than the Glazers will ever have

Haha - great write up of how drawn out such an underwhelming "strategic alternative" this has been.

I wanted the qataris and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I'm not disappointed with this appointment but I'm not buzzing and don't share the optimism as some others do. I don't think it's necessarily more of the same as I once did, I think Ratcliffe wants to make a good go of it which is more than the glazers, but I don't know if he's the right man for the job. Still, the names linked with DOF and all the structure of the club are a good sign.

Finally some good news for the club.

Long way back but no one can possibly do worse than the Glazers at running the football side of the club.

I think part of the $300m will be bailing us out of the FFP hole we're in.

People need to look at Chelsea as the ghost of Christmas future to see what can happen with a fast and total change of regime!
I know. It’s always a risk however it happens.

I’m happy enough with this though, especially with the fact there’s clear investment and a clear removal of the Glazers from sporting operations (which is what we need).

They haven’t been bad in growing the company really so perhaps them finally recognising they don’t have a clue about football and letting go of control in that area is all we need to get things going again on pitch.
